    Sundown Home Audio Amplifiers?

That's a market that could use some shaking up. Maybe a Mag-loaded one to go after SVS and REL, and a BM one to take on Hsu's offerings...

    Sundown Home Audio Amplifiers?

I'd love to see more amps in the vein of Adcom or Parasound - no preamps, no fancy processing onboard, just a straight gain block. Maybe a matching preamp could be made. A complete Sundown two-channel seperates system for under $1200 or so? Hells yes
  3. Sounds like you're going to be attracting a bunch of attention to it anyway...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Got all the wood cut for the BIB's today. Hopefully I can find some time this week to get them glued up.
  5. You make it sound like things are better now

    BM 10's and a Kx 2500.1

Just because your amp can do that power, doesn't mean it has to...that's a misunderstanding I've seen a lot around here and elsewhere...followed by the myth that everybody needs to send a driver its maximum RMS power rating, no questions asked...

I need help with an idea

Check out zaphaudio.com...he takes the standard MT design and really runs with it
  8. *shrugs* I'm not sure even sure what an OmniFi is, so I can't help you...every time I've formatted a drive it was NTFS. Do you have to mess with the master/slave configurations?
  9. I know exactly how that is - I've been a moderator on Caraudio now for 2+ years. That's also why I don't go there anymore, I'd rather spend my online time in a place where the majority of the users are smarter than I am. That's how I like to learn things...I appreciate a lot what Shon did in support of the 12 Challenge, between the drivers and the web space he gave, he didn't have to do any of that. That was really nice. But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun?
  10. Yikes, I thought we were merging...don't scare me like that Shon seems to be a good guy, but as for me I don't have an account there and don't plan on making one. Just not my kind of place.

I'm using 3/4" material on my main speakers... ...with 8 watts
  12. Honestly, I don't think it really matters between them. If they're free, you can afford to answer all of your questions through trial and error.

    i need a few more posts :)

You need at least 25 posts to be able to post a classified ad here.
  14. Nah, you're supposed to set them by ear. Go stand in front of a big ass waveguide with the amps turned on, that's all you need to do if you just want to enjoy your radar

    Sub Options

The pole chamfer is to aid cooling of the coil, if you're going to be using it daily at or above its rated power I'd opt for it. Flatwound coils increase power handling and enclosure size compared to the copper coils, but if I were buying the subs for a musical application I'd use copper. Just my opinion, you might not be as picky. High Xmax coils and a 3rd magnet are useful if you play a lot of low frequency material, more mechanical travel is your friend when you're trying to reproduce things at 30Hz or below.
  16. Optimum enclosure as recommended by Kicker or optimum enclosure found by trying many different enclosures and a Termlab?

    Supertweet in JimJ's gallery....

Because I heard them in person?
  18. *cringes* Well, at least we know where you stand on the SQ/SPL thing. That's totally box dependent. I've seen both Mags and SX's do well in pure SPL installs, one may work better for your specific situation but that's something you'll have to see for yourself.

It's on a Pioneer HPM-150 speaker. They're nothing amazing, but IMO it was an OK speaker for just enjoying the music. Did Pink Floyd well
  20. Yeah, O-scopes have no other uses in electronics other than setting gains on amps You make it sound like there's a fundamental difference between setting up a car for SQ competition or everyday listening. Where there isn't, beyond tailoring the response curve to one a judge might like to one you like. And that's the job of the EQ, not the amps. Clipping is undesirable in either situation. Personally, I don't like setting gains with a DMM because they mislead you. You can't argue with that, if you're just using a multimeter alone you're not getting the whole story. Unless you have a clamp meter to measure current you really don't know how much power is being sent to the speaker.
  21. Loud SQ has very, very little to do with the substage...because it's a lot harder to get your front stage up to the level where it needs to be. It sounds like you're talking about SPL for rap, which is different (especially considering you made no mention of anything other than subwoofers). If you're working with the box you already have...I wouldn't bother. The enclosure is where I'd start to make changes.

http://search.ebay.com/pc1600-DDR_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40 That's the kind of RAM it takes...maxing it out to 4GB isn't going to cost a lot

    Welcome to the IHoP

Pretty sure it's a 120...there's a 90mm by the hard drive rack in front. I'll probably get more RAM for it, as 1gig sticks for this thing are really cheap. But for $120 picked up I'm not complaining.
