Making a smaller signal larger is about as straightforward and nontechnical as you're going to get. Where I'm confused is because you didn't ask about what do amplifiers do, but channels on amps...and a channel is just one circuit. I'd think about it in terms of a mono amp, where you've only got one channel...and use that as a building block for more complex designs.

If I want to scare the hell out of myself, I'll watch something like 'Nosferatu the Vampyre' with all the lights turned off and the sound turned up...

Other than the doors, I'd say it's incredibly tacky. Bigjon's is infinitely cleaner.

That's the problem I had with later Saws...I liked the premise of the first one, because it was mostly psychological...the later ones completely abandoned that. Well, and the fact the writing and direction sucked. But the idea was good

Waste of time/bandwidth/anything else...

Post a picture of your doors sometime. Maybe there's a way you can fit the SLS's in door pods

Nothing wrong with having tweets far away from the mid, as long as it works in your vehicle. The problem is that midbass is less directional than midrange frequencies, so if you can manage it at all, put the midrange on axis.
-
I've heard it done, it can be amazing, but a concern would be where the midranges are going? If you can't find any place to put them closer on-axis, I'd put them in the kicks and figure something else out for the midbasses. Heck, even with 8's you can trick most people into believing you have subs in there

Make sure you get gas in VA, sure you do anyway because it's 10 cents cheaper but when I went down there last weekend Durham & Chapel Hill still had shortages. Once you got out of downtown it was fine, though.

need some help-alternator quest

Have you gotten a quote from Powermaster, Ohio Generator, Mean Green, etc...? -
Are you more concerned with output or accuracy?

I get about 2 or 3 per week, but it's a VT account. Now, all the automated messages I get sent that have nothing to do with me...probably 20 daily.

Nothing about 3kW is "budget", unless you're talking about a big one I've mentioned it before, but power is really getting cheaper faster than people's common sense is growing. Start small as previously mentioned here...get the basics under your belt, and then go nuts when you've got the technical expertise down. Note that "smaller" doesn't mean sacrificing a thing in terms of quality.

thoughts on the clarion DXZ785USB

I happen to think the DRZ9255 is a lot better looking than the current model Alpines, but that's just me -
2-way, where one of those is the sub preout. For a 2-way + mono sub, what you need is a 3-way crossover in the head unit

Prices have started to flatten a little bit, but the first heating oil and LP bills for the winter haven't come yet, either...

Damn, why does someone offer me a really nice R65 right now...meh, hopefully he's not in a big hurry to sell until November. Probably nowhere close to me anyway.

Work? Sure. Work as well as other designs? That's where testing comes in
-
Actually, that's why I don't reply usually to threads like these To me, a sealed Icon 15" would have plenty of output. But again, in SQ the sub is the easiest part to get there in terms of undistorted volume. How so?

I'm not a big fan of how litigious we've become as a society, no. I could see covering your medical bills fully, making up for wages you might have earned in the time it takes to recover, things like that...but it's not Wal-Mart's responsibility to pay off all your debts Maybe I just have an extreme of that position, though.
