Using MAW-10's For a three way tower speaker
JimJ replied to BiNarY's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
There are plenty of other woofers that will go up to 1K or so...but the MAW-10 isn't what you're looking for. Something like a B&C, Eminence Alpha or Dayton cast frame would do that, as well as be a lot easier to mate with a horn. Given the right (read: big) enclosure, you'd have plenty of midbass reaching down to the subbass depths with ease. I'd also advise against a horn tweet and compression midrange, might as well get a horn for everything 1K and above. -
The everlasting fame and glory? Speaking about engineering, there was a pretty good film on IFC today with Tom Dowd & his influence on how multitrack recording came around...didn't realize how many seminal recordings he was a part of. IFC's good for more than just gratuitous boobies, I guess IFC? Independent Film Channel.

If you're going for "LSQ", I'd go with the SSDs, but not because of any output differences...

Out of all the receptions I've seen, that's one of the most original ideas I've seen in a while I wonder how well 8" baskets would work as table centerpieces....
-
What drivers are you using with those? I'd love to go with horns sometime, but the apartment is really too small to make them work right

This week's going to be bad, I have no motivation to study for either Wednesday's or Thursday's exams...have to go back today though, if I stay here Tuesday I'll get absolutely nothing done.

We are always working on somebody's car as well . We could always use extra hands mmhmm, fresh meat

Totally apples and oranges. Though the Q and SSD, in the right enclosure, would mop the floor with the DD in terms of accuracy...

Maybe the two big yards outside of C'burg might have something like that, I know the place where I go to get Econoline parts doesn't have anything remotely near a Volvo...
-
Ramos... Do you know any junkyards in the 'noke that might have newer vehicles? I'm looking for a whole door off an '01 Volvo V70...and maybe a pair of headlight assemblies.

Digital Designs Z1/Z2
JimJ replied to Pioneer~Saturn's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
After seeing an original Z1 blow up in front of my eyes at the '06 Drag finals, I'd stay away from them unless you have some steaks that need grilling. No experience with the newer '1a so I can't comment on those. -
"Clarity" is going to be enclosure dependent, but getting loud and having clarity aren't inclusive...
-
Doing fine up until you posted the amp choice...I'd really go with something else.
-
Does it say they want 80W or that they're rated for 80W?
-
*goes to call Dave* although if Ramos is in here, I guess my question's answered...
-
I don't see a reason why it wouldn't.

"Business" Myspaces are a joke, anyway... It's a bit like running a business and having an email address from Yahoo.
-
I know of speakers that have less than that, that cost more than that, that are worth every penny Number of drivers has nothing to do with how good a value it is...
-
I preferred it in a sealed enclosure, when I listened to it.
-
Nope...I'd build something or buy something vintage before I bought anything new for that price.

Budget is a huge thing. I could recommend Brax and Mac all day...
