With the 10", and all but the kickpanel drivers turned off it'd have a good chance at not sounding like ass...but something tells me he wasn't demo'ing it this way
-
I'd bet money that more power than that was involved...

Careful planning of where you position speakers...and lots of time spent in fine-tuning crossover points and EQ curves to get to the final sound. The whole idea is to present a clear and coherent image in front of you, just like you'd get if you were at a live concert. Not just having something that's "loud and clear", having lots of undistorted output is great but without the spatial part it's useless... All in what he's looking to get out of it. If he's just looking to impress people that don't care about having a good stereo image, then he's certainly spent a lot of money to do something that could be done for cheaper. But SQ in no way takes a lot of money to do well.

wuss One day I'll show up to Dave's with something in the back of the van that resembles what they had in 'Ocean's Eleven'... "What's that?" "Eh, the midbass amp"

500V of B+ with the SV811's was one thing, 2500V-3000V for those is something different...
-
Everybody needs a crazy project though...like someday I want to build a pair of 833A amps, but I have a feeling I'd cause a fire or kill myself first

Well, get off your ass, Halloween's almost here...

Pretty damn far... I haven't been to that site in a couple years, Google "Delaware Pumpkin' Chunkin'" or something of that nature and I bet you'll find it... The anything-goes classes use big breechloading air cannons that shoot specially grown pumpkins, they're round and white...
-
Bah, make one that you can transport on flatbed(s) and take it to Delaware for the Pumpkin Chunkin' next year

I've had Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway stuck in my head all morning. Guess it could be worse, not a bad album.

Nice H/U...if they work

Of course, could turn out like the stats class last semester, go into the test knowing jack shit and get the highest grade in the class...for damn near both exams. Dumb luck can't strike twice though...
-
I've got to put 5 hours in for the product/ops test tomorrow...tried to study last night, got to the point where it's not looking quite as alien as it was before I started It's conceptually really easy stuff, but trying to figure out how it's going to be done on a multiple-choice test is annoying. And the grade is just three exams.

That much work and he's got passive crossovers in the doors was a flag for me Heck, why not run a carputer in that massive console...there's certainly the budget for it.

I don't have an RL-s...my comment was just that I have an amp (PG Tantrum 1200.1) that doesn't care whether it's at 2 ohms or 4 ohms, so an SVC 3-ohm driver isn't as much of a problem as long as you know what amps to look at. JL Slash series amps are the same way, along with the newer PG Xenons though I can't comment about the quality of those.

...Where are the Hooters girls?
-
I run 4 ohms in the vehicle, no problem if you have an amp that does full power over a wide range of impedances, or have a big enough amp to take the drop
-
The first time hearing it was interesting, having to listen to that all day at Finals got annoying fast, though...
-
I'm not a fan of either of those options, personally...

For multi amp setup, do I need a relay?
JimJ replied to blue fury's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Parts Express sells both Bosch relays and pre-wired sockets to plug them into... -
Good enough? IMO, that's too much... Personally, I'd be under 3kW...

linear programming & aggregate production planning shoot me now

what is are BIB's? bigger is better, loads of output, huge box, not so much power is needed. Basically I have some of the biggest BIB's made (to my knowledge), the box is huge, but they go down under 20hz, with a single 12" driver per side. very nice and thanks for enlightening me Ryan's are bigger than mine But mine are for single 6.5's... http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1308917

Well, there's something about saving an asston of money and being independent from the mainstream for not a lot of money put into it that's very appealing
