I haven't been impressed with the PBX stuff I've heard...their subwoofers sound like ass and I've heard about reliability problems with their amps, and they don't make anything worth it for front speakers.
-
Used isn't always bad either, you just need to know who you're buying from, whether or not they can be trusted...
-
please help comp soon!

I'm willing to bet that those MTX amps would be fine for a burp at a 1ohm combined nominal load, how much impedance rise are you dealing with? -
Not a great idea, especially for saving money. Do you already have an aftermarket head unit?

come to think of it, i need a sig on ca.com i think i have 3 or 4 posts there. purchased something and then hit the road. That's about all it's good for... Although I wonder who they'll get to replace my moderator spot with...

LOL. excess checks are not for me. just going to do it once in a while if you guys ever see me spell bad tell me i want to learn to spell right You spell better than the majority of native English speakers I've run into on these forums...

Image Dynamics, either the minis or the full bodies...Illusion Audio if you can find them. But there's usually a set of ID's for sale somewhere, either on ECA, DIYMA or CA.com. Parts Express sells new compression drivers if you just find the horns with no drivers attached. As for midbasses, that'll depend on what you have for mounting room and budget...whether in kicks, doors, or what.

Very interesting...I wonder how changing the way the wall's built impacts the final sound, whether it's better to go with closer-spaced studs, double layers of drywall, etc... What ever happened to that line array project, that was something a tube nut could get excited about

Then I guess I have serious hearing issues, because I've heard 5.25's in kicks play that so well that subs weren't necessary The BIB's will do that too, but they don't count I preferred the Q's sealed as well, and they had enough output that the BP option is useless IMO. But others don't feel that way...

Not a fan of those speakers you chose either. I don't remember reading about a head unit mentioned, what do you have for one, or is that something that needs to be bought too... Personally, I'd look into upping your budget for the front stage, perhaps to $200 or so. That gives you some decent options to choose from.

Go horns or go home. If you're looking to "keep up", frankly nothing short of a HLCD and a beefy midbass will do an acceptable job...unless you love listening to lots of distortion.
-
Careful planning of where you position speakers...and lots of time spent in fine-tuning crossover points and EQ curves to get to the final sound. The whole idea is to present a clear and coherent image in front of you, just like you'd get if you were at a live concert. Not just having something that's "loud and clear", having lots of undistorted output is great but without the spatial part it's useless... All in what he's looking to get out of it. If he's just looking to impress people that don't care about having a good stereo image, then he's certainly spent a lot of money to do something that could be done for cheaper. But SQ in no way takes a lot of money to do well.how much does ramos have in his front stage again? $60? Ramos does not count, no one can match his mixture of frugal finds, sharp ear, install experience, and talent. Don't forget storytelling ability

Subs are all well and good, but... What's providing the rest of the sound? All that and no seperate pre/processor & multichannel amps?
-
What are you looking to do with the processor? EQing? Time alignment? Crossovers?
-
Pizza tonight, then see about bullshitting two pages...
-
Because you're not getting any extra useful power, all you're doing is sending the amps into clipping and raising the possibility of toasting drivers.
-
Even in mine
-
You're going to need to run active, it's a heck of a lot easier than trying to attenuate the horns with resistors... Of course they lack midbass, that's not what they do
-
If you're looking for a flat response from your substage, I wouldn't go ported...
-
Just got pwnt badly by that test...very badly. Back to reality I suppose...
-
The ZX's aren't bad, for a new production amp.
-
I'm starting to really not give a shit about this test anymore...
-
I had a chance to try that new Miller Chill, good god that's some horrible-tasting stuff.
-
I'm not a Sam fan...better than Budweiser or Corona but if it's my choice I won't be drinking something domestic anyway...

Does anyone here have experience with Demonoid? I might be getting an invite there in a month or so, just wondering if their selection of FLAC stuff is decent. It'd be nice to have a kind of backup for Oink whenever my ratio needs to rebuild...like it does now...
