Audiocontrol, Coustic, and a bunch of other manufacturers make suitable 2-way crossovers. I'm not sure if that head unit has active capability or not, you might consider just swapping that for a unit that has the Xovers built in, instead of adding a seperate one. That's just a personal choice, whatever's easier to adjust to you... You'd have to add another amp for the sub, you'd need a four channel and a mono or something bridgeable to mono...if budget's an issue, I'd look for quality used gear.
-
Not a fan of the amp, I'd find a used vintage model from a quality manufacturer well before I went with Crunch... The speakers themselves aren't bad, but I'd skip the passive crossover and go active. There's no way a fixed 3k crossover is going to be optimal for every install, active bi-amping is the only way to go IMO if you're piecing together drivers in a vehicle. What do you have for a head unit?

You won't hear the difference with a "couple hundred" watts more power, it'd be hard to notice even on a sensor.

It had a nice armpit A/C vent, not sure about a sub there...

Off to go to some art gallery thing for a class.

Better midrange potential than the Extremis?

We were telling you...

Alien to me as well. Perhaps we should talk fishing rods instead Sure, mine are longer than yours

Oh, I thought we were just going to leave the factory amp in and just make the MS1000 look like it was hooked up...

15" Sonotube...tiny footprint, lots 'o low end extension Or if you can go tall, go with Nelson Pass' 14-footers http://www.passdiy.com, under Speakers section

I'd run the Q in the vehicle and the XXX at home Judicious use of polyfill will help.

T-linespeakers.org has an 8-foot straight Sonotube TL design, about as simple as I've seen...just a stuffed pipe with the woofer mounted on one end.

if you can't find a major you like, maybe you're shooting too high. go for a captian....or a lieutenant. hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee There are some lieutenants I sure like around here... My tires break loose every time it rains around here There's a hill going up to my apartment, every time there's more than a few hours of rain I'll feel the rear end start to spin out on me.Still got the van eh? What kind of mileage do you get? Same as always...hanging in the double digits
-
Kent, if you get the chance sometime, try running a metal midrange with a very shallow slope on the low pass...metal breakup nodes are pretty easy to hear if you have the crossover set wrong. Paper cones are a lot more tolerant of shallower transitions to the tweeter.

Then it sounds like it's something to do with the crossover... -

From what I've read, it sounds like a marketing word for their bass boost circuit. -
Going to need a very stout front stage to have a chance at sounding decent at higher volumes

Mere words cannot express my joy that Kinkybikes is now on here.
