audio control 3.1
JimJ replied to jmenace's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'd say dropping one set of components would provide more quality than a processor ever could. -
Rest of the system > wheels and tint

You never truly know someone until you've met them. They could have some major personality quirk that just doesn't come through with text only, even in a phone call...but that's obvious as soon as you lay eyes on them. I mean hell, I come across as normal on here....? That's saying something

They're a good deal if you can get them cheap enough...they could really use some reworking of the crossover though. The Klipsch boards and Audiokarma have a lot of info about rebuilding the Xovers for different results. Stock, I think the midrange horn is way, way too bright and unlistenable if you don't have an EQ handy. Now that I've heard La Scalas, everything else Klipsch just doesn't match up Well, except K-horns and Jubilee's...

With a ported enclosure tuned to 32Hz, you won't be able to tell the difference anyway because 1) that's over an octave under tuning, there's going to be next to no output that low and 2) unless you're a fan of Baroque or the 1812 Overture, there really isn't a lot of music that goes that deep. Reproducing 10Hz with any kind of authority takes very large enclosures or infinite baffle arrangements...and usually more than one Q

I think they could use a test of their crisis-handling skills, wouldn't you say? And I know just where to start....
-
Just search for "tube sockets" on there. They have 8-pin, 9-pin, 4-pin...pretty much all the common ones. Got me curious though, what are you building/replacing?
-
Who, me? I think for the most part I agree with the choices made. I think. Not re-electing Steve should be a crime, though. It'll stay a cesspool regardless of good or bad moderation, because it's lacking an admin that gives a shit. Nothing will change unless that does...
-
Oh, you mean the sockets? http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?&WebPage_ID=3 PE sells a bunch...
-
I really, really don't mean to come off harsh to you, but if we're over here, don't you think there's a reason why we might not give a shit about what happens over there? Not sure what you mean by that...

Same amps I have now...single ended Svetlana SV811 monoblocks.

He didn't say "high tuned fart box", fart boxes can occur anywhere in the spectrum Maybe they sound acceptable to some people...that's a question left up to the end user. They don't for me, and I'm not "trying to win any SQ awards".

24 pounds for 100 watts? Lightweight If building a crossover scares you, don't use a crossover then

class, pfft Think today I'm going to sand/router the ugly BIB's in hopes of cleaning them up a little...get a coat or two of sanding sealer on them...today was supposed to be nicer outside, I wanted to prime them today at least... I wonder what a pair of MLI's would do in BIB's, too bad the upper octaves weren't nicer or I'd give it a try...

You seem like you're mature enough to know when to get liberal with the volume, and when to just be respectful of the surroundings. 95% of the idiots I see on here asking about walling off their daily-driven vehicle don't seem like they know this. Something like an HLCD setup would still provide a lot of volume...with less speakers. Lack of rear visibility, for one. I've seen enough bad drivers out there that are barely aware of what's going on behind them when they have a rear window...
-
I still think a wall in a daily-driven vehicle is an unsafe waste of time. For a dedicated competition vehicle that gets driven only to shows, fine. I think "music" should be in quotes here
-
It's pretty easy for something like this, there's a few build logs here that show exactly what you're trying to do
-
If you don't have SQ, how can you have a loud version of it? 8 speakers? Unless you're doing 5.1 surround, why?
-
I think a sealed box for those subs would be perfect...
-
In few words, they sound like ass. I wasn't impressed with the ones I've heard, not musical to me.

Looks like some excellent craftsmanship

Sucks for those kids Actually good for Texas. Six dropped courses? Is that after an add/drop period or any time during the semester? We have about a two-week add/drop time in which you can add or drop as many as you want, but after that closes you only get 6 credits you can withdraw from, so that's basically two classes over four years. 6 seems way too high.

It's the correct way to get a starting point. TL's require that you build, test, rebuild, test, as needed until you get the desired results. They don't just happen unless you get very lucky or are copying a design from someone that already did the time consuming part. I still think 3 cF is too small.
