Imperial Horns

The one problem I see with PA-type designs is that they're big. Hoffman's Iron Law, sure, but we're like a Mongolian horde that descends on a town and packs up just as quickly. If it was me, a loud set of three-way bookshelf monitors would be the perfect dorm speakers, as well as being apartment party 'peekas. Maybe something along the lines of a Klipsch Heresy with better crossovers and without the squeaky Tractrix midrange horn. But the Heresy does what every college student wants...

In a perfect world, coaxials/triaxials are ideal, in home audio there's many very expensive coaxial designs out there that sound amazing, it's the ultimate point source. But in a vehicle, you don't usually have the luxury of controlling everything in the environment like you do in a room...so having the ability to separate tweeter from midbass could make a huge difference. Even then, prebuilt passives aren't really great...

At this rate I'm pretty sure I'm never going to graduate.

Logic and religion aren't very compatible As much as it seems to be a cop-out, I'm agnostic...

Mac.com is owned by Apple, not sure where you're looking at these...but they sound like fancy names for older ideas... Neither is really a "system" anyway. i really hope ur kidding when u said that...... its just making u look stupid and what do u mean its not a "system" thats not making any sense Why, am I supposed to know all the people selling 80-year old ideas and marketing them as something "new" to people that don't know any better? You used an acronym I didn't know, I still don't know what URL you're talking about. If I wanted to know about 1/4-wave, horns, or any other esoteric design, I'd go to DIYAudio or Martin King's site because those people don't make any pretenses about what they've "invented" or not, and are willing to show you the way... A "system" involves more than a sub, box and an amp. That's just part of the system...

The audio went out on my cable...fuck. It's like these people are trying to come up with ways to be unreliable.

Skipping my 5:30, getting up at 5am is catching up with me now
-
Agreed. You are being too nice, 80hz and below they are a bit blah. True.
-
Better, I'd rather skip the passives and go active, though...

Ah, OK. You might want to check the rules though, I remember a rule about discographies there, might have to upload everything separately.
-
thanks again for the invite haven't downloaded anything yet uploaded : 931.55MB, with a 350MB bonus and the Mercedes mixed tapes and ATB discography in FLAC torrents aren't yet uploaded You found the Mercedes tapes in a non-compressed format? Sweet!

re 35.1 / what do you think
JimJ replied to dadydolas's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I've heard a direct swap with a Revolution 1500 (which is the same amp) to a Sundown SAZ-1500D...let's just say, the Sundown is still getting used while the Revo collects dust It's not bad, if you can get it cheap enough. -
They need subs, though 40Hz and below is just blah.
-
Pffft, maggies are actually fairly cheap. You strike me as a guy who would want more midbass out of them though Kent. I think a pair of BIB's with some 6" or 8" drivers would better suit you. i don't even know what a BIB is, lol. but the wife is wanting to change up the living room and get rid of teh rack system. and they might be fairly cheap, but i have quite a few "irons in the fire" at the moment, one of which is that colt python. more money going at then coming in. not too mention 6 birthdays and christmas this month and three more birthdays in january. can you say broke? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Mine cost $150, but that's really the only reason I bought them now...because that deal wasn't going to come along again.
-
Sounds very cool...
-
My vote's for the Q...what's the rest of the system?
-
It's not the subs that are clipping, it's the amp(s). Also, just because a sub is rated for a certain amount of power, doesn't mean you need to give it that amount of power. I think too many people here fall into a trap of thinking that they need to run at or above the RMS rating...

After seeing WVU fans in person I have no desire to even watch them on TV.

I do, just because my ex gave me shit about how Tech fell asleep and UGA kicked our ass in last year's bowl game... And in her sport (swimming), there's no contest, we're just bad. But so is the rest of the ACC...maybe excepting NCSU.
