With that kind of a budget? Audio Technology C-Quenze 6.5's Seas Nextels in a 2-way, or Excels in a 3-way, as well...

That would be my choice And if you happen to browse across it, stay far, far away from AudioWeb. That place is nothing but scam artists posting fake classifieds.

sub blowing my 4000 watt amp with two 40 amp fuses.
JimJ replied to tweak_09's topic in Fi Technical
In that case, if the amp goes into clipping, it's no longer "underpowering" anything and the sub still dies from thermal failure Sending a driver power that's below its thermal rating will never hurt it...unless the manufacturer lied, made a defective product, or you installed the sub in a situation like IB where you run into mechanical limits first. I ran 8 watts with lots of 2nd-order distortion to a pair of 100W-rated Klipsch towers for a year, and guess what? They didn't die -
You do the same you do for the rest of the trunk...seal it up, deaden it, make sure there are no ways for air to escape to the cabin.

Just not as flexible as you could have with an external unit, or an advanced head unit.

I wouldn't use the onboard crossovers with speakers of that range...

...and coaxials? If you're spending that much on the front stage, I wouldn't want anything to spoil it...

Who would have thought Tyson coming up with a quote like that...

What does this have to do with Fi?

Madisound stocks a lot of their products...

Sounds like something that I could build a hell of an amp with

Shallow mounting depth does nothing for me, but lowered inductance does Might be time to put the Shiva in the 2nd system and run stereo subs with the BIB's...

Those guys piss me off, every damn time I've been to NYC they're closed...

Now that's just harsh

But unless you're fixing a damaged cable, there's really no need to "cut it to length". Audio isn't like RF, if there's resonance in the cables something is seriously wrong

Pretty easy, the solder lugs on the connectors Knu uses are huge. It helps if you have a 100 or 200W gun instead of a small pencil iron...it's going to be tough to get the connector hot enough to avoid cold joints if you're just using 30W or so...

thinking about switching amps
JimJ replied to boalova13's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I like the JL because of the impedance flexibility, but that might not matter for you. -
Are these the '03 O series?

I'm trying to find the Dr. Ebbetts mono remaster of Dylan's first album, I had it once and it was *so* much better than the regular album one. How can you cut out that many verses of "House of the Rising Sun", just doesn't sound anywhere near as good
