Personally, for a 2-channel + sub setup, I'd use a vintage integrated amplifier and a plate amp...something like a Marantz 1060, NAD 3020 and a 75-watt or so plate amp will be pretty reasonable in price and probably outlast you, which can't be said for a lot of new production stuff...

Happy birthday! Haven't noticed him around much anymore

Fi Q15... not much excursion, why? (videos and pics)

Comparing output by looking at a video is, in a word, stupid. Don't listen to them, if you're concerned about output go by what you do on a sensor, and nothing else. -

If you want excursion, go with a sealed enclosure... -
The market for pre-built subs, in a word, sucks. If you want something in that budget you mentioned you're pretty much left to that Infinity woofer... Even when I bought my Rava three years ago, $399 was on the very, very, very low end of the preassembled sub market. Hsu Research might have something for $250...

The day that stupidity becomes addicting, well...

How much of a nitpicker is this person? Two Mach5 drivers downfiring running in stereo would be enough for most people...would make room placement easier, and you could find plate amps decently cheap on Apexjr.com or PE.

What exactly makes a beer worthy of a Texan?

If you're looking for an SQ-oriented driver, the BL is not the one out of the Fi lineup you should be looking at...

You'd think universities in general would be more forgiving of open source...

What I can't figure out is they force us to use the latest version, and then say to save everything as a 97-2003 file. I guess I can't complain too much, if I actually had to pay for the software I guess I'd be annoyed.

Why, what have they fucked up there? We're a couple weeks away from covering that, I remember in '03 it wasn't too bad...

You know, I think that's the first picture of dirt on one of your vehicles that I've ever seen, if I didn't see that picture I wouldn't have believed it

And 150dB is no picnic in any trunked vehicle, even for a pure, one-note SPL machine.
-
150dB really doesn't equal "LSQ", in the least...

Office '07 blows. What's with all the cute icons, give me the old menus back dammit. And everything's hidden from where it used to be.

What are the details on them? About five feet tall, 2" deep, don't like to be near walls...planars are just fun

We might need to work something out. Be a year or three, probably a year and a half before I really try to start selling anything. What I'd like to do is keep it as a part time fabrication business on the side, make custom speakers for home audio along with custom entertainment centers and anything like that. I think I have enough skill to make something that is well constructed, last, be aesthetically pleasing, and at a very reasonable price. Then again, I could be completely wrong, who knows. Well you have the shop and the skills, and we have some speaker company. SSA in that kind of market? Now that'd be interesting

Bad idea using two tweets, you want one driver per frequency range... Putting a midrange and a tweet in the kick and a midbass in the door is a fairly common way to set up a 3-way front stage, though you'd want to play around with the aiming to see what actually works best for your install. I've heard kick-mounted tweets that I've liked, and dash tweets that I've liked.

They're just tied together, but they're not "grounded" in the sense you're thinking of.

I love the people getting on me for saying $200 is an infeasible budget for multichannel audio, yet the poster says "Well, I've got a 51" HDTV..." Uh, durr.

There's a place that has Stella on tap in NC that I've been to, haven't been back because canned Guinness is an insult to nature.
