    Welcome to the IHoP

I used to have a pair of big African clawed frogs, the kind that are almost entirely underwater, one day one of them got out and hopped into the living room while I was watching TV. Put it back in the tank and it lived for another four years or so. I had those things for a long time.

Ryan, how much are you looking for the Maggies? I've decided to pass on the MG1.5's locally...could bi-amp them, but too many iffy things with the crossover...and if I'm going to bi-amp, I have another insane project that might happen

Nap time... Be up in a couple hours to head over to Dave's...
  4. I think you should get some Velcro or duct tape and start experimenting with what position sounds best for your install. That might be down low, high up, somewhere in between, on the dash...who knows

    It's on NOW...

    Indeed.
  6. I don't agree with the "upstage" idea - if mounting tweets on the pillar raises the stage height, just put the tweets there No need for two sets, and it ruins any chance of having a clearly-defined image when you have the same frequency coming from two distinct points at the same time. It's a good way for them to sell more tweeters, that's for sure.

    4 or 1/0 gauge???

I would run 1/0 from the battery until you get near the amp, running into a distribution block where you can go down to 4awg.

    First car audio system.

Just because a Type R has a low Fs, does not mean it's a driver meant for sound quality.

    Greetings from Va

There's a bunch of us out in the western part of VA for school or otherwise
  10. Indeed. Those boards do pretty well.

You don't want to know how much I've spent there Sometimes I've been able to meet up with the seller in person...which is always cool, and very safe from a shipping/payment perspective.
  13. If it's a decent DMM, it should be relatively linear at that frequency.

    Welcome to the IHoP

The day that stupidity becomes addicting, well... I don't even know what you are supposed to do there. Complete waste of internet space if you ask me. I don't think it is a complete waste. Some people do take it to the extreme. But for me its a good way of keeping in touch with friends from other colleges, etc. which is why I hace Facebook as well. I do like facebook more because it is a little more business than myspace. You also have the option to do "Where I've been" application or a courses that displays all your courses and yadda yadda. Facebook is also a good way to introduce parties! W00T! lol None of my friends go there so it won't help squat. Then you shall be a PIONEER!!! Frankly, people over 30 with Myspace pages are a little...suspect. I use Facebook from time to time, when I first joined it was useful because it got me in touch with people I hadn't talked to in years...but I don't want the pucking page flashing and annoying music playing and all the other trappings of Myspace.

    Electrical System Integrity.

Should be fine, and extra battery power is never wasted

If you're OK with used stuff, I would lurk on the solid state and multichannel amp sections of Audiogon...really good selection of stuff there, without quite the idiot factor of Ebay...

I'm not really a fan of the Behringer processor/crossover they're recommending, but that's what they stock, so that's what they're going to recommend. I'd rather use something like a Rane or dbx if I was doing it. One of those receivers could be used as a preamp if it has a line-level full range output...you'll need power amplifiers to run active, Rotel, Parasound, Acurus, Marantz, Adcom, even pro audio gear like Crown or QSC would work for that...you're looking at six channels, ideally. Two for the planars, two for the midbasses, and two for the subs. I don't think that design needs additional subbass, but you could always go IB if you want to stick with the over-the-top theme

    I need new headphones.

Since when did you become an SQueer? Nice work. Next you should do solid wooden cups

10 Inch Alum Woofer Good for IB

Well, if I were you I'd get rid of the 15" and if you're running 10's in the doors to use them as both midbass and subbass...the Germs would have to be on-axis.
  24. The BLs, for example, have a listed Xmax of 21mm...which is right in line with other 12-spokes out there.
