I couldn't get that damn music out of my head for weeks after...

Sounds like they're re-drywalling the apartment under me. Oh joy.

So do a lot of things

Not very, 400hz is tough even. The Aura 10 or 12 for barely more dough however can play to 1200hz pretty nicely. The ones listed on Madisound for $180ish? That's good to know, out of my price range right now but that's a heck of a driver if it goes up that high Oh, and I figured you'd like this: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.p...182#post4165182

Ever since hearing High Voltage on the 811's that album hasn't been quite the same on anything else...

There's a place for everything... Bi-amped Altecs just do the sonic kill/maim/destroy thing a lot better than Fostex's

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ele/555020239.html That looks promising, maybe we can work it down if all I want is the Altecs, I couldn't care less about the Bozaks...

You aren't going to get the "low lows" with a box tuned to 30Hz...

I'm going to be getting some money in shortly, and I figured I'd put it towards my music computer to finally get it where I'd want... As it stands, I've got a Dell Poweredge 600SC running XP. 2.4GHz P4, 512MB cache, 256MB RAM. Hard drive right now is a Western Digital 250GB IDE, 8MB cache. Obviously, that's nowhere near enough storage for me. I was thinking about taking advantage of that guy that's selling WD 250GB drives over on CA.com for pretty good prices, Sean's mentioned before that the 2MB cache of those shouldn't cause a problem when searching/during playback...I have three open bays, what would be the easiest way to combine three drives so it looks like one ~750GB volume? I assume some kind of RAID controller, any opinions of what RAID config. and what brand of controller? The RAM on this machine is upgradeable to 4GB. I take it I should max it out? Or somewhere in between...RAM for it is dirt cheap as it's not commonly used in "consumer" desktops. Also planning on going to a 20-22" LCD monitor, any suggestions on brands to look for? Thanks in advance

http://cgi.ebay.com/Altec-Set-of-Drivers-4...1QQcmdZViewItem Wonder what his reserve price is...I'm damn sure going to put a bid in

I think we need to implement a "no posting about the Super Bowl" rule in here, at least for a couple months...

I wonder how high a Peerless SLS 10 or 12 can go...without totally sounding like ass... Because the B&C choices are way up there in price

http://www.madisound.com/new.html#F8 Sean, noticed you mentioned that...I'm not a big fan of whizzered drivers, but it might be a great candidate for a whizzer-ectomy and a phase plug put there instead. (Basically what's done to the Fostex 206E to make it listenable on the top end) That motor reminds me a lot of Goodmans stuff...

They actually built the damn thing? They've been talking about it for five years, back to when I bought my "v.1" A Series

"Idle" current of 6.2 amps, Guess it's not Class A then...

One of those multichannel a/d/s plates takes up next to no room...no onboard anything, just power/input pigtails and a heatsink.

Welcome, Hillsborough here when I'm down there...

Was this the one that was a horrible shot?

I used to have a Rane AC22, never a hint of a noise issue. Thinking about buying one again soon...

Best thing I've seen all night. I don't think I've ever looked forward to a Monday, but I'm damn sure looking forward to this one. G'night.

Out of the ones you listed, I've heard good things with the DriveRack and Marchand units.
