    Mmm, Stella Artois.

    Record Player needs cartridge

That one doesn't have a phono input, so you need an external phono preamp in between the Adcom and the TT. http://hagtech.com/bugle.html That's a very-well reviewed phono pre...

    Thinking Q + 1500D

I'd rather buy the sub first based on listening preferences, then the amp... But that's just me.

    Record Player needs cartridge

http://www.needledoctor.com They've always been quick ordering cartridges from. They have a decent selection of budget cartridges, but just be careful, you'll probably be spending $50-$100 for a good hi-fi cart. $25 cartridges aren't useful for much other than scratching. Do you have a phono preamp built into whatever amp you're going to be using, or do you need to buy an external one?

dust cover is warm... how hot is too hot?

"Halfway up" is meaningless. Set your gains with an o'scope to make sure that it's not clipping.

dust cover is warm... how hot is too hot?

Slightly warm isn't bad, as long as you know exactly how much unclipped power you're sending to them and that isn't a problem for them.

    RE SR subs question

I thought it was...average. Not an amazing driver, not bad either.

dust cover is warm... how hot is too hot?

If you're melting voice coils, then it's too hot. I've never gotten a dustcap warm...

    Which would be louder?

Like it was said before, mutually exclusive goals.

Depends on the mood I'm in. Hendrix doing "Machine Gun" on Live at the Fillmore is a pretty damn moving piece of work, but it's a lot...rougher than something like "Europa".

    Pro's and Con's

Then those people are wrong/aren't listening to properly-installed setups... Pretty much useless for subs, as ideally you'd be crossing over at 60Hz or thereabouts anyway... From who? If anything, for subwoofers I'd say the opposite...but it depends on what kind of linear travel is needed to get the desired output...
  15. Aren't most drives rated to something like 65G's in operation and 350G's when idle?

  18. I'd look into mostly used things, but let's face it, 4kW is not really "budget" territory.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Decent starter cartridge for that will go from anywhere from $50 to $100... Shure makes one that's under $100 that's pretty highly recommended, I think it's the Mx97e but I can't remember their numbering system.

Impossible for a 10 to hit the lows

You're being too generous with equipment 90%+ install...5% equipment, 5% beer, to quote Ramos

  24. OK, but most of the things that I'd be interested in listening to won't be too impressive in a video. Unless you like seeing tweeters move, I don't know
  25. Through-hole, Mahattan-style, dead bug, SMD...all useful for various things. Although when you're fixing things, having resistors you can actually read color codes off of kicks ass compared to surface mount.
