As much as I hate to recommend CarAudio.com for anything, I believe in the Subwoofers section there's a tutorial with pictures on how to recone a subwoofer.

32Hz is way, way too high to be used in a room, IMO...

I like the idea of building something new, that way when you decide to upgrade the rest from an HTIB it'll be easy to integrate.
