i must say, after a couple days of nonstop pounding, these drivers have really grown on me. they don't have the peaky response that my solos had, very flat across the range. and, i decided to throw all the fast double bass beats i had at them, and the rl-p's reproduced them as well as i could have asked. thumbs up to mike and SS. these subs make my old solo setup look like a fartbox

i may go carpet i'm not even sure.. it looks loud, cuz it is loud lol. honestly i dont even know what i got myself into. sometimes i feel like taking a 12 and putting it in my room at home for HT usage and just use the other for the car. i know they get loud as hell as is but i feel like the big box and the ultra-rattling trunk really compromised the results i was looking for. in any case, i'm at least glad i can pump my amp like i never had before. with the solos it was set at less than 1/3 gain and all my h/u settings were set to zero in terms of bass. now the gains are set at 1/2 and the bass settings tweaked slightly, and the rlp's don't sweat a bit. my kickers were on the verge of distortion at the lower settings...i just wish my alt could handle all the amperage draw with the higher settings and draw. i have dimmage like no other!

I've been in the market for some new boom for a long time now. For the last couple years I had two ten inch L5's doing the duty for me. I'm about to purchase three id 10v3's but it doesn't seem like many people on any boards these days are running ID. I do stupid things with my money, and I want to make sure these are worth the 120/ea or whatever I'm gonna pay. I was going to go with two RL-P 12's but that'll cost an extra hundred dollars....anyone think it's worth the wait/saving? I know both setups should get louder and deeper AND sound better than what I've got...but does anyone think the RL-P's aren't worth the extra money? In theory the 3 id10v3's and two rl-p's should be quite comparable. I'm trying my best not to turn this into a vs thread....but now it sounds almost inevitable lol. Either way My box will be ROUGHLY 3.5ft^3 net, plenty for both setups. CHIME IN PLEASE!

i actually already have a design laid out. it's only going to yield me 1.5 ft^3 each (1.499 to be exact but close enough right?), tuned to 34hz...49.5 ft^2 port

Eclipse Amp
joebangaa replied to joebangaa's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ok problem solved. who woulda thought that a fuse could go bad w/o even blowing??? now i'm kind of irritated though because this probably means my old amp is working fine...BUT i can tell you this much, this eclipse amp pumps my speakers about 2x as loud, no joke. -
Well, my Avionixx 4ch died on me, so while I'm having it refurbed, I think I'm going to go ahead and upgrade. Right now I'm looking at an Eclipse E4000, it's rated at 100w x4 @ 4 ohm but the guy at a local shop says he thinks it does more like 85w...I believe him too. Anyway, does anyone have any opinions on their amps? I want this to last me a LONG time, not just a year like the Avionixx... http://www.smartcart.com/alneds/cgi/displa...item_num=EA4000 The shop is charging 320~325 out the door or I could get it 225 shipped off egay. Anyhow, opinions please! I want to purchase soon (like today)... I WAS gonna go with a PG Xenon 100x4 but it's too big.

ok now i really don't know what to do. got the new one, and it too doesn't light up. wtf happened here??? before i go back to the store and embarass myself, everyone please list the possible things that could've gone wrong....i mean shoot, the old amp still lights up, what is the deal here??? -
PORTED!!!! already anticipating doing a 3.0net ~ 34hz enclosure. more than likely i'll build it with supa_c. anyone else think i should go bigger or tune lower?
-
yea i even personally know someone who uses a kx600.1 and he loves it, but the guys at this shop seem to know the background of a lot of companies. oh well
-
dr denim, someone at a local shop told me the kx series amps are made in china and that theyre garbage. what do you think?

UPDATE: the bastard authorized eclipse retailer sold me a bad amp. i installed it in about 20 min today and the f*cker doesn't even turn on!!! all i wanted to see was the eclipse light up dammit! and yes, i know how to tie my own shoes, the wiring is fine, i rechecked about ten times, then reinstalled my old amp which lit up fine. right after i wolf my lunch down i'm gonna go hit up the store, exchange it, and install it in the damn parking lot to be sure. -
is that your final decision? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yep, two rl-p's for me. planning on having everything done before school starts (in a month)
-
so you never tried porting the w6v2's?? you should do a side by side....

bought one today for 300 actually...325 with tax. I'm gonna try it out and get the egay one anyway to save money, but the way it looked in the showroom was too sexy i couldn't leave without it. the way the "eclipse" lights up is VERY VERY unique, never seen anything like it. will post pics/clips when i install it, but i won't get around to it till monday -
90 supra turbo here: You prefer speed and originality over anything else and have a good rep on the streets. Sounds about right...though an 03 max would fit the bill a little better lol jp

chances are i'm going to put two 12" rl-p's two 1kW, i don't expect them to be underpowered either
-
well the type r's have an attractive price... argh the decisions... if the rl-p's will get louder and lower than the id's daily i guess we have a winner, but i'm poor....
-
ok well i really have to throw this out there too since less people will interrupt in here... spkrman and tommyk90 from CA.com have been ranting and raving about their 05 type r's...what do you guys think. i'm 99.999% sure i wont buy them, but what do you guys think. any truth to their claims?
-
what about spl dr denim?
-
Alright, I can see where this is going... I know the two require slightly different power, but I'm sure my RAA1000 can step up to the plate for either duty. I figured the RL-P's would have the slight edge...argh! You guys are gonna make me waste more money (and make Mike a richer man)

i highly doubt it

the cone on my friend's type r broke from a cooler sliding into it, those cones aren't that strong

uh, why would underpowering damage a speaker
