05 sable 2 zcon 18s on 10k in b-pillar walll
Billy Jack replied to frogcase2002's topic in Build Logs
I just traded one of these off except mine was a ford but looks just the same. I had my tweeters mounted to the black piece that covers the mirror bolts. Of course mine sucked they where infinity kappa 6.5's and you could barely hear the tweets and that was with them set to +3db being powered by a kicker CX 300x4. The sundowns I got over powered them pretty bad even on half power. -
DOES COMPETITIONS DESTROY THE HOBBY
Billy Jack replied to bluedreamz's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I Agree with this 100%. I have thousands and thousands of dollars worth of equipment in my cars, and all I ever hear online is its junk, or how this speaker or sub is better. But that's ok, cause when I'm out running around I get 10 complements a day on my cars. But that's not why I do it anyways, I work on my cars because I like it. When I get a new car I feel like something is missing until I get a system going. I'm all about that bass! -
What is the difference between frequency and hertz, did a search and found nothing on the subject? Or are they the same thing?

Well I will tell you what it did. It added a little punch to that wave, and brought the gain up to where it should be. For what ever reason, just gain didn't give it that much punch, so I turned the gain down a few clicks, and raised the boost and gave it a nice tight punch. Best $20 dollar system I ever heard. It's a 3000 watt crunch, 2 Memphis slims in a 3.0 cubic foot box ported, with a Sony head unit, and and 2 61/2's in the front doors.

I wish I could make the brown note, that's would be the bees knee's. I would drive straight to a Hilary rally, and make the few people that didn't already have a load in their pants, fill them full!

3 SSA Evil 18s B Pillar wall 2002 Suburban Enclosure opinions wanted
Billy Jack replied to musgofasa's topic in Newbie Sign IN
These huge wall builds are over my head, but I will say 3 18" evils is gonna be rediculously loud in a wall. And I don't know if this is off topic or not, but will this truck be at finals in Louisville? I live in Kentucky myself and would love to hear it. -
And what question would that be? You talking about the slight clipping from the bass boost on dudes junk, who cares it was $20 bucks, we will poor gas on it, light it up and dance around it like wild Indians, and piss on the ashes before we worry this much about a 1500 watt amp running a teany tiny clip. He doesn't give a rats ass if it blows, he just wants it to hit good enough to impress some girls. Ow and M5 when so, so many people have a problem with you, it's usually not that the whole world that is stupid, or scum, it's usually the guy you see in the mirror. I have read so many of your old post where you talk down to people it ain't even funny. Honestly if everybody is so stupid, why don't you just shut this forum down, or just ban everyone who doesn't kiss your ass if it bothers you so. You whine more then a women, cowboy up son not everyone agrees with your methods and that's ok.

You can't go wrong with either, there both nice subs. If it where me I would probably go with the single level 3 and maybe have room to expand later on.

You didn't start a thing man, it's just some of us have different opinions then others, that's all. There old school, they believe in running active, and using raw drivers, and I believe that's almost a thing of the past, as its so hard and pains staking to get it right and maintain. And their right, what I said about mixing up the amps isn't ideal, but I was thinking since you where buying used amp you probably didn't want to invest hundreds, or thousands, in new equipment. If you have the cash, that would definetly be the way to go. And if you want a whole lot more output, try the Soundqubed HDC3,'s those on 1500-2000 watts can get extremely loud in a ported box. My nephew has one 12, and I was impressed with its output, not the best sound, but plenty of wind coming off it.

No sand here bro! Just thinks it's funny you haven't even seen a install I have done (the avenger wasn't a install) and still act like you know anything about what my actual time consuming installs do look like. And I will say one thing I don't destroy a car to install a house stereo in it the way you guys do. Some nice kick panels, or some custom boxes, with amp racks hiding all the wires, and some decent highs, mids, made for a car are just fine by me. These days even off axis in the stock locations can sound damn good. I know you guys like to be hipsters and use raw drivers and run active but it's to damn much trouble you spend more time trying to get it right then you do actually enjoying the music. If that's what you like that's fine but don't hate on me because I take the easy way.

Actually, yes that does help. Thank you. And m5, dude has a $20 dollar system, litterely that's what he gave for the entire thing, so a cheap crunch amp isn't gonna sound to good, no matter how much you adjust. And like I said, I set it up, then just gave it a click or two to help it be a little louder, cause that's what he wanted. I knew if I didn't clip it a little and give him as much output as possible, he would crank the gain up and burn his stuff up, so I gave him about as much as I could without burning anything up. If 2 little clicks of bass boost burns anything up, it wasn't going to make it anyways.

Funny, you have only seen one Install, just threw in a car in 10 minutes, so how is that many? And like I said before, I just sold my old ford and bought a new one. Some of us work for a living and don't have 7 years, and 7k to do every install, especially the one's we barely ever listen to, as in my wife's avenger. And as far as the Amps having that much delay, I don't see it, and I'm sure as long as the subs where in the exact same boxes, tuned the exact same way, it would yield a slightly better db, at least audibly anyways. He could always slide one box a little closer if it was slower to respond if that's possible. And like I said, I done the same thing years ago, and gained 2db, yes it sounded like poo, but who cares when all your trying to do is get louder for free. I have seen m5 tell people with $300 dollar systems, they needed $1000's in equipment to test with, not everybody is that worried about perfection, some just want to be as loud as possible as cheap as possible, now of course that's not everyone here, some do have the funds to do it right, but I'm assuming anyone trying to use used amps, and $100 soundqubed subs, isn't worried as much about perfect response, as much as they just want more output. Have you guys never ran 2 similar amps of different brands just for break in before cause I have and was suprised at the results. For a temporary setup until the man could afford a better bigger amp or matching amps it would be fine. Ow, and it's a online forum, if you don't like someone's opinion, that's fine, but why the hostility and name calling, that serves no one.

I said it wasn't ideal, but could yield more spl. And yes I know what sq is, I have heard world champion cars with $100k setups. But I assume anyone buying $100 subs, and using what they already have is going for more output doesn't care as much about sq. well that and he asked how to get more output. Sometimes I think you care to much about perfect music reproduction, and not enough about how to get loud cheap. You would be amazed what hillbilly's can do with some duct tape, and bailing wire.

I use a iPhone 5c with a USB, sounds surprisingly good. I also have that 3.5 aux cable, and I swear it doesn't sound as good, not a big difference, but just enough I can tell, but that could be the cords, or the head unit it's self.
-
Yea it's not the ideal thing to do but if your on a tight budget and not worried about sound quality it will work. I took a friends sub and amp out of his car and stuck them in mine at a competition and went up 2db. We both had the same size kickers but I was running A US2000X and he was running a big kicker amp. Obviously it didn't sound right but loud it was. Lol

I usually don't either, but with his old cheap setup it just sounded better with it. We turned all his eq's to flat, and turned the loudness off and adjusted gains, eq's, and everything first, then we dialed it in to how he liked it from there. I didn't turn it up much, just a click or two but it sounded a 100% better, he had it all messed up.
