High amperage fuse question
Billy Jack replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
We all have those moments, it get even worse as you get older. I forget stuff I have known for years, and later realize, duh I knew that, why couldn't I remember it. But I have had a butt load of concussions, so it's could be either, or both, for me. I had amnesia in the mid 2000's, that's the weirdest shit ever, I knew my name, but had 5 years of my life just gone, I have picked up a few major things, but for the most part that 5 years is gone. Sorry if I'm off topic, but you did bring up durp moments. -
High amperage fuse question
Billy Jack replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The fuse has nothing to do with how hard your alternator runs, that's the job of the voltage regulator in older cars, and the pcm in newer cars. Basically the alt does what the regulator, or pcm, tells it to do. If the pcm see's low voltage, it will demand more out of the alt, and when it see's a resting 14.4volts, it will make it run just enough to keep a steady voltage. All fuses are for, is a safe guard against shorts, or voltage spikes, so nothing catches fire, they don't restrict, or control anything except braking the chain of juice, if to much is traveling through them. -
High amperage fuse question
Billy Jack replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you have a amp that draws 400amps you need a 400amp fuse. 300 may blow at peak if your amp actually draws 400 for any period of time. I doubt it ever would but usually amp manufacturers suggest a 100amp fuse for every 1k watts. I am using a 100amp fuse on a HD1200 and have never blew a fuse but some less efficient amps will blow fuses that are a little small if they draw to much current for to long.- 11 replies

Kind of like when we had a bundle of gratuated steal break free from the chokers, and fall 62 stories onto Cadillac square, in Detroit, and the longer bars went so deep into the pavement the Cranes couldn't even pull them out, so we had to cut the ends off, and nail them on in, and pave over them. Looked like a giant box of tooth pics flying every where.

And your a uppity arseho so what's your point? I say I agree with something you say, and you start a argument as usual. Why SSA puts up with your bs I will never know. Can't nobody say I haven't tried my best to make piece with you or at least find some common ground. But apparently all your looking for is blind followers to kiss your ass and feed your massive ego. I will let you in on a little secret, your nothing special I'm seriously doubting everything you say.

Well comprehension is me understanding your a libtard, and me extrapolating is assuming by how you speak your a libtard. Either way I'm lead to believe your a lib.

Reminds me of my Rodbusting days. You got to be half crazy to do some of these construction jobs, and I'm not talking about you sir or your job I'm talking about what we used to do, hanging from 50 story buildings, or being down in a tube, 100' foot under the river having rebar lowered in over our heads, that type of stuff. But I'm sure working around those high pressures, can get a little Hairy sometimes.

No, I actually listen and extrapolate from what your saying. Like you saying you hope we get back to Regen days, why would a liberal want to live under a Republican presidency? You say you hope we remove terrorist from the map, liberals want to live with terrorist, and bring them to America to live in a safe space, that doesn't really exist. So from what you said in that one paragraph I can only assume your a Republican or a closet republican claiming to be a liberal because he thinks it makes him look hip or PC. So which is it if you don't mind me asking?
-
So you are a liberal and want to coddle the bad guys? How am I wrong here? Your not making much sense you say you hope we get back to the regan days, he was a republican, you say blm movement is nonsense which a liberal would never say, and you speak of killing terrorist which republicans love doing, so are you a republican at heart and a liberal on paper? Or where you not speaking to me?
-
Just when I thought I had you pegged as a liberal, you say something I totally agree with. I'm a redneck from appalachia it's not hard to figure out where we stand!

Well it say's estimated build time 21 days, so that's probably best case scenario, then you gotta figure another week for shipping, so if your lucky you might get them any day, if your not and FI is super busy, you may wait two months. And I'm no insider, so I'm just guessing by what I have read from others who have bought the same subs. Read one review that said guy waited 21/2 months to get his evils, but who knows if that's even true, you know how people like to stretch things like wait times. Look on the bright side, you got plenty of time to get ready for them, and it's just that much longer they will last. But I wouldn't worry about not getting them, I have never read of anyone, any where not getting their order. Now scarbage, yea all kinds of horror stories of people getting bad products, or no product at all.

We know how that is, we own a small towing company that my brother in law is running at the moment, so far we have a Turbo diesel International rollback, and a smaller Ford f350 wrecker. Eventually the plan is for me, my nephew, and my brother to all keep a rollback at our houses and cover 3 separate counties. Getting on the police call list was the hard part, we had to fence in the entire property, and put up cameras, and more stuff, I don't remember what all he had to get, I just know it took a while. But it was worth it, now we are piling cars up every where, and all they costed was the fuel to pull them home.

That's cool, I would love to hit the autobahn, or Nurbergering one time in a high end sports car.

I knew I read something about you and Germany. So are you really from the states?

It will sound good if you can get it set up right. I ran a 2 way active in my S10, off my Alpine 9887 hu, and a 4 channel amp. I don't even remember what highs I used, I just remember they started out as a 61/2 component set, and I removed the passive crossovers, and used the active capable head unit for signal processing.

Cubbies Victory Giveaway From Second Skin

Congrats cubs! -
What are some easy ways you guys have used to gain DB's. Like myself, I found my old camaro did a few tenths better, with the hatch cracked, and the windows cracked, and the glove box open. Just curious what you guys have tried to gain those few tenths.

why amp shows clamped wattage low?
Billy Jack replied to ftj_85's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just measure how your gonna play it at comps then you will know what impedence your seeing in the box. And yes just wire to your speaker wires running into your coil. And definetly don't try it on music because music rises and falls and it's impossible to know where it's gonna be. And I definetly wouldn't try .5ohm on music you will fry your amp or drastically shorten its life. My nephew wired his hifonics collosis to .5ohm and it lasted about a week on strong electrical. -

Billy Jack replied to ftj_85's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yes a stronger electrical is always gonna help on a unregularmted amp. And you just need to play your system, and let it warm up and see what your impedence is rising to while your playing a sign wave. Then when you know, you can wire lower to get the max out of your amp. If your wired to 2ohm and it's rising to 4-6ohm then you could wire it down to .5ohm so when it rises, you will still be pretty low around 1-2ohm and see more power. Just don't do it on music, this only works on burps because you can measure your impedence, so you know your not going lower then mtx's recommendation's. On music it will drop way to low, and possibly burn your amp out. -
Yea you would think we are married as much as we argue! Lol

Really? You brought up sound deadening in a GM not me so don't turn around and act like I done it.
-
No shit Sherlock, I was talking about the engine.
-
I have a cousin who designs proto type engines for Ford I'm gonna ask him about this and see how much time and money they spend on noise reduction.
-
Yes I have made tons. Dear jerky is good to.
-
Cadillac uses foam in wheel wells to deaden tire noise, they have woven materials in their windshields and side glasses to absord noise instead of just tempered glass, they place acoustic shields under the car to absorb exhaust and mechanical noise, and they also have shields on the engine plus some Cadillacs have a systems to measure sound quality and adds bass to help regulate unwanted noises.
