They don't have to be all up, figured all up would be louder, but if it comes down to it I can do two up two forward.

3 reasons basically: I've always wanted to try a moderate sized sealed setup Out of all my setups in this truck I've enjoyed my two sealed se15's the most. (I've had two dd1508's ported, an hdc318 ported, an rlp18 ported, and a FI q15 ported in this truck, the sealed se15's were the most fun, if I can get that sound only louder I'll be happy) I can always go ported later if I decide to. Unfortunately to do so I'd have to go above the window line and since this is my daily driver I'm just not ready to do that yet.

Luckily I have plenty of space, its just the surface area firing up thats limiting me. That said I won't have to resort to glassing, which is good because I would fail I'm leaning towards option 1 as that would only be two planes the woofers would be firing from...option 2 puts the woofers on 3 different planes. Not sure that matters for cancellation, and not even sure if I'll ever know unless I build/test.

Yes sir, they all showed up with no issues. Always happy when I get woofers without shipping companies molesting them. Thanks again

UPS just showed up and dropped off 4 of these beauties Picked these up for a decent sized sealed setup. There is a bassrace show coming up on the 19th so hopefully I'll have some numbers on them soon. Will be running them off of an american bass 500.1 at .5 Really can't wait to watch some movies in the truck with these guys

15's, thought about 3 18's instead but I'll save a little room with these.

Thanks SSA and IA, just showed up a bit ago. In person these things are rediculously large. Will make a nice showpiece in my truck. Here it is with a dayton ref 8 for comparison:

My 2000 s10 had the roof rattle from the roof skin hitting the brace/support in the middle. A little bit of minimal expanding foam between the brace and roof skin along the whole brace then deadening it made a huge difference. Can't wait to play with my 21...should be a fun setup

What size box and tuning? Also do you have that 20.1 at 1 or .5ohm? My 21 shows up next week and its goin in my ext cab f150...trying to figure out wheres a good place to start for box/power.

Just got my tracking number and looks like mine will be here Monday Too bad I go on vacation for a week starting next Friday so won't be tryin it out till I get back. If I was takin my truck with I'd probably be building on vacation

ShiZZZoN's AQ2200D story
duece212 replied to shizzzon's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well hopefully DJ gets you taken care of, he's a great guy to deal with. And I know how it goes having a setup ready to rock and having one component of it fail, sucks when you get everything done and have to wait to fire it up -
ShiZZZoN's AQ2200D story

No idea what the problem is, but hopefully it gets worked out for you. I think this is the first I've heard of an aq2200 letting the magic smoke out. I ran an aq2200 for a short bit with no problems and the dood I sold it too isn't having any issues. I know after repairs, amps are usually bench tested, maybe they should be bench testing this one in a strapped config before shipping it out so they know that in your scenario it should work. If a torroid was shorted out before shipping though, you'd think a bench test woulda caught that. Oh well, hopefully it works for you this time around man. -
Its all about budget, if you have the money to go new Sundown, you will probably get a better product. If your on a budget the AQ will still get you there. I dug my AQ2200. With Db-r's refurbs in the picture though its pretty much a no brainer if your on a budget. You can get a quality amp at a great price with a 1-yr warranty from the guy that fixes them. Its not like your working through a 3rd party to get an amp fixed like other refurb dealers. That said I'm stuck between the AQ3500 and a sundown 3000 db-r refurb, hopefully the 3000's come back in stock soon at db-r.

Mac n' Cheese and some btl's.....thatsa good birthday!

Yup, things happen when your in too much of a hurry. I was a little pissed when I was taking a smoke break and noticed my HO alt layin on the garage floor. While speeding around doing stuff my dumbass reinstalled my stock alt instead of the new one, that pretty much set the tone for the day. Wish I coulda made it though...that was a loud setup
-
Things got thrown in the truck at 6am the day of a show so stuff just got slapped together as fast as possible. Unfortunately I still missed the show by a few hours
-
Should be something bigger coming soon, carpeted this time, itsa gonna be nice
-
I've toyed with the idea of a sundown 3000, which I'll most likely do. Box I'm thinking middle of the road, 8.5 cubes at 34hz. Will be for daily, but lookin to do the best I can for the occasional bassrace comp here.

Going to get a box goin before they ship, I'd assume the the cutout, overall diameter, and depth of the sub are set in stone since there wouldn't be any changes to the basket?

Lookin for info on the q18, you guys recommend 4 to 8 cubes for the 18 sealed. With ~1kw each would 5 cubes each be acceptable? I'm looking for them to carry into the upper range a little more so I'm thinking a smaller box would fit that. Toying with the idea of doing 3 of them sealed in my ext cab truck on a saz3000 for a bassrace/daily ground pounding application. I'm currently running an hdc318 on 2200w and it gets downright loud and I like the upper end response as well as the lows it gets, just looking to try something different. Always wanted to try a large sealed application that got loud both bottom and top end, just not sure if the q18 will do it, which is why I was thinking of trying a smaller box as even in a small box cone area should get me the lows. Any thoughts/suggestions? Also is there anything in the ascendant line that would be close to the power range and fit the bill as more of a "loud" woofer and less of a bottom end woofer in a sealed config?
-
You guys have treated me right in the past so I'm back for more Now its time to decide on enclosure and how much power...hrmm
-
Right on, I like to try different stuff and while this is pricey, its definately different and will hopefully be fun
-
Do we order these through SSA or directly through you? Noticed in the SSA store it didn't have coil options, I'm assuming dual 2's will be available on the 4th?

crappy pics, but they're pics:
