Need help with my single cab ranger console box

Yeah the ranger is getting a x8 in a 1 cubic ft box , it will be done next week.Box builder was moving ,so box will take til next week. bass out of my head
  2. Hi guys new to the forum ,not new to car audio .I need help with my truck ,I want it to have slamming bass. The problem is not much room so I changed to buckets to allow for a console box. I have a t line with a sundown 6.5 and it is ok.I'm giving it 300rms but it's not doing what I want.I'm going to build a new box and have measurements of space for the new box. I'm planning on using a c.t sounds 900.1 amp for the new setup. The measurements are 10=h 32=l 9=w inches. Which box builder said 1.09 cubic feet ? I was thinking 2 8 soundqubed hs08, 2 D.C. 8s,sundown x-8 or ? Any help would be appreciated I planned on ported enclosure.

I know this isn't about the ranger , which is having the box made, I went with a sundown x8. With everything considered it was based on cash and amp I had. I bought a super clean e21 Bmw with 5 speed all original. It's a 320is with lsd. Needs nothing I'm looking for rims and tires. It's console holding the radio (it houses the 4x6 speakers too) is broke. Darn it, I guess I will have to upgrade.Ranger will be on daily duty while I am swapping out a motor ,or turbocharging the one that's in there. It had a rebuild recently and has 8.8 comp so if I keep boost down around 8psi, it will be ok.I can't wait to pick it up, and paint it black with 15x7 bronze colored wheels, and ls1

Yeah , w140 , thanks again been working with Ryan .yes he remembers you and you were right.Hes very very good at building boxes, I can tell you he is the only place,I will take my truck too . He took the time to explain box rise, cabin gain, how to tune it in( and get some clean bass), how ohms work. He didn't get mad, he explained it , made sure I understood. He doesn't know it yet but when I pay for the box, I'm going to tip rather large. Thanks again for the recommendation Sean (w140) I'm looking at a super clean e21 bmw with lsd and 5speed , no rust. I know I can put something big in there.

The line by 17" measurement isn't a division ,I just wanted to give the measurement at that part of the box .Also the front of the box is flat BUT a bigger woofer would fit(12) if it's on a slant. I found a new little sub amp, MA audio hk-10ka at the pawn shop for 300.00 ,what do you think?
  7. I tried to do what you did, just go off others measurements, don't work. Besides when you do it you will see how wrong those measurements are. Like m5 told me make a template, you may find more room or maybe something that others didn't find.

ok this is what I have, i hope this will work . I also remeasured after playing with the seats and I have a foot between the seats! The back comes above the back window a bit but thats ok. The front notch is 5 inches as i said before.

I am going to pull out my sub box , and make a template today. I got a bunch of cardboard and I will do my best. Then should I show you guys from the cardboard? Or just measurements?

On the second pic with the type r it shows the box behind the seats with the sub inverted. Now if I made a box in the center and behind the seats. So the box would look like a T.Would that help ? I can pop out the seats in 5 min ,to install. It may decrease airflow which would help, right? Slow down sound waves is a good thing right? Like polyfil?

Ok, I understand, I really didn't expect to have people even answer anything, really . I have went on other forums and get no response.I was looking for a quick answer to a long process ,which was stupid.I think I want for something that can't happen ,I don't have the space. So I have to make what I can . With the 24" height will be fine I can rest arm perfect at this height, the shifter goes in to second ,forth and reverse if I bring it back 3 inches but I gave 5 to be sure. I found a bunch of consoles and a couple are for my truck.

The line driver is because my stereo pre-amps are weak and it will kick it up to 8v. The box rises to 20" after 5" to clear my shifter so like the line driver it makes perfect sense. I'm trying to fill in all the check marks good signal voltage(which will be 8v instead of 2-4 maybe) and I'm trying to get all the space I can so after 5 " back height rises to 20-24 all variable for exact volume once a woofer is chosen ,

Ok I'm looking at Image Dynamics Idq10 and the massive audio hippos. I like the image dynamics all the specs look good especially x max and fs, this looks pretty good to me , I'm pretty sure I could work with its space requirements as well.

I know there's not single woofer that will do everything perfect. I want to get one that makes as much spl in the space I have. I picked up a pre amp line driver today,so that will help to widen the bass frequency. I don't know how I could put a 12 or 15 in ,but I want to know . I could make the box in front of the seats and drop it on a slant?

I want that big boom that carries for awhile down the road.Sealed drivers are tight and punchy right? That's not really what I want. The sealed box that I'm thinking of getting vs getting the box built. He told me he moved the window ,but I seen a YouTube video and a sd3 getting 500 watts in a sealed box was pathetic. He's building a blow through because the box wasn't enough so ..... That's why I'm questioning the sealed option.

I don't know what else I'm supposed to do to determine the space. I have given measurements of the space I have to work with , I have given a maximum price on woofers(which can vary abit) , I have given how much rms I have to give it, I don't want a sealed box, 10 inches depth ( this can increase to 20" depth after 5"),10 wide, 34 inches long . Final answer , no telephone a friend, no ask the audience, or multiple choice.

That spl box for the x-8 is about the exact measurements of the console I wanted, 10" wide, 10 depth,34" length . the x-8 wants .76 . I really dont want to cough up the money for a x-10. Im hung up on sundown because I see what they do ,I dont care about if it will last ,ill get bored and sell this truck anyway. What 10 or 10s will stand up to or beat the sundown 10 for flexing stuff, and that will be 250 or less. Lemme guess those dang alpine type r. If they are the best for the job ,I will have to get them build in a box where i don't have to see them. So anyone ,give me suggestions and Ill start looking , or if you have used woofers . I don t need new subs if you have something that would work well for me, and give you some cash to get new stuff by all means.

m5 The SD3 are for sealed enclosures only and its for shallow depth, it seems you don't like any of my woofer suggestions. You know what I'm working with ,so what should I do then?

Need help with my single cab ranger console box

Ok guys , I found a guy that built a fiberglass box for behind the seats, it was built for two 10" sd3 sundowns. Its giving them .6 each which is what they like. Its really cheap and this would save me some cash, have to buy the sd3s. My amp would give them little more than rms which is fine with sundowns.

I talked to talked to him on the phone and that's what we had decided on but I was in the area.I stopped in to auto tunz in Flint ,Michigan. The guys name was Ryan also nice guy. He thinks I can get a ten in there and he wants to do a really cool box.One thing , my truck was louder than his now. I even set off his car alarm, but some people don't like that much bass and that's fine.I just want someone that wants to get as much sound pressure as I do. I do want a bigger sub ,but Ryan from advanced told me he could tune the 8s to hit as low as the 10s,12s, I am aware that this is in direct conflict with what I've heard, but I just keep my mouth shut.He said he would tune it low somehow in conjunction with the cabin gain. I am saving for the woofer/woofers, I was going to only spend max 250, so with box 500. I been looking at 8s , with tens I could use those daytons (I hear those are REALLY good). I didn't want to go sealed and I do have 3 cubic ft to work with and it will have 25 inches depth in the back so a lot is possible.I got 11 inches across also the box will be staggered to allow me to shift.now you guys know the airspace and important spaces. I don't use my rearview mirror really so the box can go to the ceiling for all I care.

I live in Bay City on the other side of the state and people were posting it on Facebook. I got gas for 1.43 and filled my stuff up,my apologies if I made it sound like I got gas for .47. ANYWAYS, I am going to use a sundown x-8 in a ported box with curved ports.I seen a ranger on YouTube with that sub and 800rms and it was pushing out the rear window pretty good. I'll be running 1100 rms ,I was thinking about the sa-8 spl version but I didn't see a 2 ohm model.

.47 cents can you believe it!They are having price wars and I was just letting peeps know ,if they didn't(hard enough out there ya know) I don't think there's enough snow, but I could be wrong. I think I understand surface area >x max. I need to get as much air in ,and get rid of it quickly just like an engine. Just like "no replacement for displacement" relates because air volume=boom? Since I only have around 3 cubes ,I have to use it as effectively as possible. Are the aero ports are a way of using the venturi effect? If so that's where I need to be,I think I'm going to study how to improve airflow,to bad I can't stick a Garrett t3/t4 on it!
