Sorry hardly been on for a bit. But thanks for the information and tips. I need to get a laptop to use all those software I see people use. I just find the volume of a box for the location, use the 12volt to determine the length needed my port to be proper tuning, and I try to keep the port area within manufacture recommendations. Or 16- 18 I believe is a rule of thumb I seen somewhere. But I know with the softwares, I guess you can measure the output at different frequency and what not

Niiice. Before picking these up I was considering two zcons but the price was too much. So I'm glad you're enjoying these and not regretting getting rid of the zcons. This little review was exactly what I was looking for.

That song got some bass =)

Very excited to see the outcome and hear how you like it. I got my ethos coming in on Tuesday. What amp you using to push em, and what's the volume of your encloser
-
Nice work... Looks great

Ya I used the 12volt. Com to tell me my port length. So you're saying you build the port, then work around that??? Cuz I'd just measure the box size I can fit. Minus 1.5 from h, w, d, to get the total net. Then use that number in the 12volt calculator. Then if it's too large lessen some of the dimensions, then I re adjust the length to keep that tuning in the new net cubic ft
-
He said you gotta use the net volume. So, minus the volume of the port first to get that number. But how would you minutes the port if you don't know the length? Because to get the length, doesn't that depend on the volume of the box? A 40square inch port 25inches long may be 32hz in a 3cubic ft box but in 5cubic foot box it won't be the same frequency.

Your just a book of car audio... What's up bro you running the ethos?
-
"The way he worded it was confusing and I believe wrong. When you calculate your port length, You need to use your net internal volume, so you have to subtract out the space your port takes up to get that number." But yea m5 I know that's how you find the met volume of the box with the port being displaced
-
The length is affected by the volume, how am I suppose to know the length and subtract it from the net volume first?
-
Yes there is. Gorilla glue. I used 12volt it says enter my width and height and the net volume and it calculates the length

What's up everyone. I've never had an American made subwoofer before and I'm interested in these two. I was locked set on the ssa zcons. Because of the tons of great reviews people give ssa, everyone races about the icons. I have a pair of re sxxv2 and the rms is similar to them, so I'm looking to upgrade so I was looking at the xcon's. But then I figured I might as well pay the extra $90 and get a zcon lol. Then after researching, ready to go through a it it, I notice the aa mayhem. The mayhem is $10 cheaper and 250watts more. And it looks crazy beefy. So I was thinking what's the deal with that. I got a taramps 5k to go on either or. And I'm trying to get Loud, king of the block house shaking etc etc. Lol not gonna compete just daily I guess. Oh and I'm looking at getting either or in a single 15 set up. Thanks yall for your feed back and help

This clarified a lot to me. Thanks, I'm glad you put what people says, and debunked it. Lol it answers a lot
-
Could you explain what they mean when they talk like that about making box smaller or larger
-
Well I didn't know that but the reason why I was asking is because I know their both top brands. I was just wondering why the ssa was $10 more expensive but the aa was rated more in the rms. And it looked way beefier than the zcon. Was wondering if there was something I didn't know about because I know aa isn't the bottom of the top brands, do I was curious why the ssa is more expensive. That's all.

Ok. What about making the box on the larger size to Co pensive not having a lot of power? Say a 2k sub but you only have 1k? I read it increases the efficiency. And I emailed Quentin and he said don't lower the box smaller than 1.5 in I have the room lol
-
Ok so keep it at 1.5 and watch the gain? Sorry for that suggestion, I've seen a lot of that option online. They say bigger box is more efficient if you don't have a lot of power and then I've seen if you have a lot of power, shrink the box down so it can handle it

Wow didn't know there was so much negativity surrounding these subs and the company. I've seen big jons review and also sencheezy and it seemed very positive. Of course it's hard to find recent reviews on em, but it was cheaper to go this route with a dual setup then it was to go dual set up with a ssa sub. Just gotta wait and see. And Quentin responds to all my messages within a few days, so he seems pretty cool to me. I didn't get no feeling of him not caring bout the product or the customer. But we shall see how they do. I have a 5k taramps I'm gonna use on em. So I asked him on box size, it says 1.5 for 1800watts, so idk maybe I need to shrink it?

I've heard good things about dss as well as bad. The sale he has now on ethos $325 shipped is hard to pass up.. I got 2 12s coming as well should be 2 or 3 weeks. What kind of bad things have you heard?Bad glue on spiders.. Someone inverted 15s and cracked the baskets. Other problems from way too much power that is irrelevant. No complaints from rated normal use.. What day did u order? I placed the order on the 9th of this month.

For me it was about 3 weeks to build then another 1.5 shipping. What did you end up getting?
-
No I have not. I been talking with him and he said one of my two subs had coil rub so he has to re do it, and the parts will come in on Monday. So that's cool that throughly checked em out to catch that. But it just delays it a bit. So I'm still eagerly waiting lol Have you received your subs yet? Curiousto hear what you think.
-
Ya that's what he said the lead time was. I'm excited to get it, seen lots of great stuff about em. Hopefully he sends it out tomorrow
-
Thanks yall! I appreciate all the info you guys are sharing and how these are built to order. That's really cool, not like a warehouse full of Em. Just goes to show these are on another level. But update right quick. My mom is apparently careless right now so If it looks like a long term thing I might offer her my altima. Which has 2 12's I was planning on upgrading em so I went ahead and bought some dss ethos! Seeing the good reviews and how their still an up and coming brand I wanted to see what it was about. Well long story short if my mom needs a car, I'll give her my altima remove the subs to give her trunk space, and I might throw the 2 12's into my challenger instead of the single zcon 15. So me getting the zcon shall be post poned

Ok. And it still takes a long time to arrive?
