Hello, and thanks in advance for your answers or comments! . ok. i have an older style fi btl 18 fully loaded. i blew it. i have it taken apart and the ring where the foam lip is located is completely clean. 1st question. 1. what is the best method to remove the leftovers from where the spiders were. ( about 1/4 inch of spider and alot of glue) i tried to use a dremel tool but it made bad odors that i didnt think would be good to breath in. i also tried a metal brush in my drill "was going VERY slow" and a knife didnt work well either 2. what type of glue do you use when you recone and is it something i can pick up at any hardware store? 3. is this something not to hard that i can do myself or should i send it in to be done. i think im pretty good with most everything i do. Thank you again!

i have the 08 model. i was happy with it until i got a big system. this unit doesnt have a good anti skip. if you going to be making alot of vibrations invest in an ipod or a better deck. alot of features on this unit though. not bad for the money. Eddie G -
Hey everyone, hows it goin. ok, so today i started my first ever fiberglass project in my little brothers SUV, it's a mitsubishi montero. im putting a single 10" mtx 5500 single 4 ohm woofer in it. he listens to rock so i figured a 10 would be perfect in a sealed enclosure. today i went to the store got all the resin, hardener, mat, brushes, aluminum foil, making tape, ect ect. ive never done this before but i have read alot of forums on it and thought i would try it out. ( not in my vehicle of course ) so far tonight i got the foil layed in the area i want the enclosure. after i got that how i wanted it i put a quick thin layer of resin down then put the mat down. i learned fiberglass dries VERY fast and you need to prep a small area that you plan on doing RIGHT AWAY! and be prepared to go through a few brushes . and i also had to dispose of two mixes i made that i put to much hardener in, i can eyeball it out now to where it suites me! anyways; after i figured out how fast it dried i started prepping the area right before i layed the mat down and pressed it down with the brush and then brushed it out. seemed to work very well. i got two layers of the bottom down. i do have pics< i will put them up tomarrow!!!! if you guys have any input or suggestions that would be GREAT!!!!! thanks in advance. Eddie G

thanks for the tips. ya the stuff sometimes jells up if i use to much hardener. im using the bondo brand. what is a good brand to use? and the heat. on one batch that i had to dump i dumped it in aluminum foil and covered it. about 20 minutes later not thinking i picked the foil up to throw it away. WOW was i in for a surprise. that was HOTTT!!!!! i will get the pics posted today after work. thanks! Eddie G

im getting an alarm sometime soon. my truck got broken into 3 times within 2 months. wooo the ghetto sucks. lol. i have a factory alarm. they were ripping my stuff out with the factory alarm going off. i dont like the alpine type R's because the s's and the z's are pretty distorted. im going to look into the other speakers you guys have been telling me about. keep the idea's coming please :D thanks. im looking for some good 6.5 mids for my 2005 durango. my factory radio is amplified. i will be adding an aftermarket amp for my aftermarket HU for mids. ( i tend to take out all my aftermarket stuff alot(crooks) ) i have a pioneer 6000 deck "new style", 18'' loaded btl; amp got stolen but getting a sundown 3000, but im going to switch between that and my kicker L7 of a us amps 1600.4 bridged at 4 ohms to put 1100 rms to the L7. so there will be plenty of bass. i have tried the alpine type R mids and they did not work for me. i was thinking focal. but ide like to get a few idea's from you guys. and what amp would you recomend on them. thanks. Hi everyone, I have a JL Audio 500/1 that is blown. the green power light will come on, thats it; no safety light or anything. when it powers up the green light will come on but there is no output. Ive taken the boards out and looked them over. i have not noticed any visual problems but i could have missed something. does anyone know anything about these amps or how i can trouble shoot the problem! i live in Indianapolis, Indiana; if anyone lives close you can take a look. Thanks in advance. Eddie Gossett

i introduced a load to the amp before i powered it. i hooked up a single 4 ohm voice coil to the amp before i powered it. so it should have been there.... im hoping i can save this amp without spending to much money -

mine is apart right now, im using the duster in it and not seeing a spec move. i really hope i get as lucky as you did. the guy from dbr said sometimes the boards need to be disconnected then reconnected well and it'll work. but i did that last time to try. i have my fingers crossed though. i'll let you know here shortly. thanks.
