Oh yeah, I know there's nothing wrong with a classic style box that is built well. Just kinda window shopping @ different styles to get the most out of a box that is specified for the sub. When I see designs like the one you showed, it makes me wonder though why do they go through all that trouble, if it has no additional benefit then a traditional L shape design

Sad Face Welcome to the club man, hopefully updates will come sooner or later. Were really dying to see how those PSI subs get down he has. So whats the hold up? I thought it was the aero ports, then you said the box itself/carpet, errrrrrr lol -

Any upd8???? -
If you read that thread, it says 5 months multiple times

Yeah, I just :google:6th order bandpass, and I have seen those before, but from my understanding, they are very difficult to build and require persise measurement, so I don't ever see myself building one.... I understand what your saying about space as a limitation, but I have an explorer, never planning on doing a wall, but I do have 10-12 cu ft that i would be willing to sacrifice for a 18 or two like I had before. I like the design that Alton showed me @ http://forum.mwcaraudio.net/showthread.php?t=2662&highlight=horn I didn't think that would take up that much space, of course unless this is not a true horn setup.

There will be no fun to be had reading!!! lmao

Thanks Alton Can anybody else chime in on this one? M5/ Impious/Handcrafted Car audio, PTS, Fisher Customs/SSA

Alright, so your the man, thanx a lot bro. I understand better now, with the first link you showed, but the autoba lol, I don't think I would ever use, just don't understand it But I have seen the folded horn before, and always wonderd about it. So, I'm getting the picture that every box has its own strength and weakness and are a base to base decision depending on the owner's prefrence and space availible. I'm not gonna sit here and ask you to list every box design and ask whats the benefit of each one kuz thaz dum and . But in this case, relateing to my first question, would a Folded horn enclosure... how do I say this.... present a greater impact on the meter/owner then a normal L (Don't know the correct term)box if space permits?
-
Hmmmmmmmm, not to misinterpret what your saying. But with what your talking about, is this why I see some builds that put up very high numbers are useing thoz big long ass aeroports?? Is that the concept behind what your talking about? Or is that just a differnt ball park? And thanks for your .02
-
Thanks for all the responses, yeah, after getting all the information from you guys, I feel pretty dum, but educated at the same time lol. Now I don't even know why I thought that in the first place, I guess I was just thinking you could some how "push" the soundwaves to make a louder output which I now know is completely wrong. Which is why I started the whole question hypothetically. Again, thanx for the input, I gr8ly appreciate it.

You can call it whatever the hell you want, but it will only mean something to you and nothing to anyone else. There is no "halfway" point. One is subjective and generally thought of as accurate, the other peaky as hell. Sort of like picking a halfway point between Love and Loud...no real half. And the actual problem with the term is its misuse. 99.99999999% of people that throw out that term have absolutely no desire to be anywhere near half. They want loud as hell, but don't want it to sound like shit. Perhaps a more specific analogy. You have flat and peaky. Where is half? Considering that you do not know where the peak is in frequency nor in amplitude good luck with that. And here is the other problem. I've never seen anyone who asks for "SQL" actually have any understanding what SQ is and if they sat in an SQ car they wouldn't be impressed. The amusing part is if they actually did understand they would never ask for "SQL" but instead describe exactly what about the SPL setup they want to avoid or how they'd like to alter the SQ frequency response to achieve their goals. This is a compromise, easy to answer, and actually helpful to other people reading the forum where "SQL" is a misapplied joke and as a term it shouldn't ever be used. x2

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine

Any updates?? -
First of all, neither MLV or deadener bounce any waves by design, the MLV will absorb them though. Second, IF the waves were some how sped up it would cause the frequency to rise which would be VERY bad in any situation and screw everything up in the response. It's still not a stupid question, or theory. Nothing wrong with trying to think outside the box, and if you don't ask you'll never learn anything. Thanks for the response Alton, I appreciate it. And I do see your point. Your a good man
-
Hmmmm, interesting. See, the way I was looking at it is. If you have a material that bounces sound waves back in, then if you were to put that in a box, then maybe it would push the sound waves out the ported box even faster and produce more sound:ughdunno: lol thats why I said it was a stupid question, cuz if that was the case then everybody would be doing it lol. Thanx for the input tho, I was just always wonderd about what if lol.
-
Yeah, they might be there. Its starting to seem like there is always something though. Everytime DC didn't reply for a while, either someone was sick, or someone was waiting on someone else, or they are moving from this place to that place, its just always something that is preventing them to get this man a date or a product.

curious.. What does it take to "become" a member?
Sencheezy replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Team SSA
So do you get invited? Or do you ask? Can you join just by slaping a SSA sticker on ur windshield, and then show a member as proof? Do you have to be competetive and run all SSA products? Submit videos, pictures? etc etc etc... lol I've always wonderd what it took to become part of a team, because I see them all over the site. Team DC, Team SSA, Team IAK, etc etc etc. -
Stupid question: If his alts are done and have been forever, and you're just waiting to complete the brackets......why not ship the guy his alts (more than likely the most costly part of this transaction), and DC Power contract and pay for someone like tejcurrent, another manufacturer right here on this forum, to build the brackets? It seems like this would go a long way towards completing the transaction on a pretty timely basis. At the very least, this would put the biggest chunk of change back into the OP's hands by having a tangible product in his possession. Then the only thing left is the bracket, which if another manufacturer such as tejcurrent can't produce on a timely basis, it's less of a refund that would need to be made by DC. And the OP can be on his merry way finding someone who can build a bracket for him. With all of the machine shops in the US, and another manufacturer right here on this forum whose explicit business is building alt brackets, I can't believe this isn't something that could have been completed at least since the start of this thread.....much less nearly 2 years. I totally agree. Personally if I was a company, I couldn't hold a persons money for two years without product. There are to many other options to for brackets these days, and 2 years, that's crazy. I couldn't wait that long even if I haven't paid upfront. I don't know how in the world you let them dick you around this long. I hope this can get settled. I always thought DC was a good company, but regardless, this isn't right. Wow, I just spent the past hour reading this whole thread. So RHoughton1, do you know anything new yet? like this crazy, this isn't just *shit* It doesn't take 2 years for a *shit* to get resolved. I honestly think you have done the right thing by keeping SSA updated on this whole situation. It seems like DC is trying to keep this from the public as much as possible, which I can't blame them, I would too if I took a customers money and never gave them a product after 2 years.

I'm in Nashville TN, and I wouldn't mind making the trip on a weekend either I'm in the same boat as wagon, being a team member would be amazing, being part of just good people who love Car Audio. -
wow, you really need to calm down sir. You say its all about trial and error, but yet, you rather waste your time failing, insteading of taking in somebody else's advice, that probly already failed at doing what your trying to do now. Learn from somebody else's mistake, thats why your on here right? To get other opinions to try and help YOU out. I don't see how you can have the balls to try and shoot other ppl down, when their doing you a favor. If you don't like the responses, then why do you keep asking, over, and over, and over again. M5 tried helping you multiple times because he knew what works, and how to atleast get you a step closer to solving your issue the right way the first time. And nobody cares about what you are or who you know that has w/e. So how about you get off your uncle's balls, and try to build your own reputuation, which it seems like your have already failed at
