Looking good. So I guess I am behind....are u using a single sub application in this build? Is that 3/4" material.or thicker? R u still going to.Sean's this weekend....will u be there Sunday? Do u have bad hair days? ........ that's all the questions I have at this time, thanks. are u using a single sub application in this build? For the Event on the 26th I will be using a single sub applicationIs that 3/4" material.or thicker? In which material are you referring too? The mdf on the floor of cab is 1/2" and the mdf for the enclosure is 3/4"R u still going to.Sean's this weekend? I am going to sean's in a few hours from the time I post thiswill u be there Sunday? Where is there? I will be at his place for the entirety of today. The event is on the 26th, a Sunday, so yes, I will be there.Do u have bad hair days? Depends on what you reference to as "bad"

Lol I'm sure they wouldn't notice until our power generator went out I bet they could get you a discount on C&D batteries. haha, I doubt it, thoze are some big bitches tho many lol, like 110lbs each Hmmmm, thanks for the insight, I guess I will steer away from this idea. Again, I was just curious is all. And I was thinking the thicker the copper than more current can be traveled but, thanks for informing me. we're all here to learn

Hello, I have a simple question and was wondering if anybody has tried or seen this done before and thoughts on it. Its been on my mind ever since seeing it at my last job. This kind of cable is not nearly has flexible, I understand that part, but instead of smaller strands of threaded copper this kind of cableing is like, really think copper which is why I even ask. Since it is made up of thicker copper, then I would assume that it would be able to carry more current than normal cableing we see in most car audio applications. While upgrading my electrical, I was just wondering if this would be a logical move or should there be any reasons to steer away from it. My initials plans was to order 50ft of 4/0 from weldingsupply.com which comes out to be $272.84. If I order from ebay though I can get 60ft of this commercial cable for $252.00 I also have the option to order by the foot, which would be most likely what I would do since I doubt I could make a run from under the hood to the battery bank limited by the flexiblity of this material. But for the connection from battery A to battery B and C, I believe this would be a great idea. Here at my current work place, inside the UPS room, they have this setup and is exactly what I would like to try to do. Here are some pictures and links for people to get a better understanding of the brainstorming I have been doing. I can also get a set of 20pk of those terminals as well. Below you will find links that I would purchase from. 4/0 XHHW That I would order by the foot 60' 4/0 AWG THHN Drawn Bare Copper Wire THWN Cable THHN # 4/0 awg Copper electrical wire CUT TO LENGTH 20 New BURNDY YA28 Hylug 4/0 awg LUGs LONG 1/2" STUD thhn xhhw copper wire crimp Thoughts?

power but no sound

I'm not completely sure on what to try next. Maybe, try elementing some of the possiblitys, for example, try to connecty the amps bypassing the fuse blocks, maybe that could be the issue. But for both to bad, idk, find than unlikely. Ummm, How do you have your amps grounded? May want to check that. Try to make sure there isn't any corrosion on you cables. -

Which one would you take given the choice
Sencheezy replied to slidestarr's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
So your saying it is absolutely fine to play hard clipped music at full tilt with no worries of destroying your subs? Clipping is the number one cause of speaker failures and to suggest that clipping can not cause it on it's own is a lie. Clipping leads to the overheating of the coil at a higher rate than you'll see from sending 2 to 3 times the power cause the coil can make use of the full piston travel of a clean sine wave VS. a clipped signal that prevents the speaker from full travel and leads to overheating and finally a failure of the coil. I'm no expert on the matter but clipping and distortion are the bane of all audio and we all strive to have as little of it as possible. Distortion and the shape of the signal aren't what causes damage, it's the fact that a heavily clipped signal contains significantly more average power over time than an unclipped signal. If we were to compare a sinewave to a squarewave, the average power of the squarewave would be twice that of the sinewave. This is because for a sinewave, Vrms = Vpeak * .707 whereas for a squarewave Vrms = Vpeak. It's perfectly possible to send a heavily clipped signal to a driver and cause no damage as long as the level of power does not exceed the driver's thermal or mechanical limits. It's also perfectly possible to send a heavily clipped signal to a driver and damage the driver, but it was damaged because the level of power exceeded the driver's thermal or mechanical limits and not because the shape of the waveform was non-sinusoidal. Yes, the clipping is what caused the power to increase to a level that caused damage. But it was the average power over time that did the damage, not the shape of the waveform. -

Haha thanks, IAK FTW, Sure do wish I could rep Team SSA at freeze fest..

Thanks Chop! On with some real progress. Here is the wood flooring to brace everything down for the Freeze Fest on the 21st. Here is a photo of my new box being built by the mad scientist Shizzzon Heres a video that I've taken a few weeks ago, never uploaded/posted it for some reason. Pretty nice footage.

Thank you very much for the insight. Yeah I kind of already rulled out using it for anything outside of connecting the multiple batteries I will be running. I will look into your suggestions for sure.

Alright, so I know you guys have been wondering, "hey, what does sencheezy look like?". So I decided to upload a video via Youtube. You can see me at the link below: I'm after 15 seconds in

power but no sound
Sencheezy replied to shadowm891's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ok, DON'T PANIC!! hehe Lets just try some trouble shooting steps and see where we go from there. This is probably do to something very small. Ok, we may need some additional information from you, such as: Was your door speakers working prior to subwoofer installation. Have you checked your fuses, ALL fuses. I'm assuming 2 amps? Have you checked ALL RCAs, how many are you using? What are the make/model amps your using? Power with sound sounds to me like an wiring issue, plain and simple. I think there maybe a few loose RCA connection, or wiring isn't connected properly. What HU do you have? Some H/U's have the option to turn on/off the outpputs of those RCAs. Like a sub on/off. Also, prior to connecting your new subwoofer enclosure, was this high/mid amps connected and working properly? Have you disconnected the speaker wires from the cd player's harness? Also, on those amplifiers, check to see the status of the Master/Slave option if available. I think I've covered a lot of areas for you to check, if none of these get you going, then you might want to consider replacing your HU has you may have a unit with malfunctioning RCAs. Let us know what happens. -
