Stetsom 7ke or Sundown NS1?
Sencheezy replied to mjmarovi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
good info, exactly what I wanted to know, I think the NS-1 will actually be too big for what I'm looking for. I'm thinking cause of my electrical, I may have to downgrade my amp selection to something down around the 6k level rather than the 7-8k level...unfortunately for now.... where have you seen sales on that amp for that price range? they are on the SSA store for 1215.00 If I could pick one up in that price range, they may end the dispute. I think I can handle doing what I would need to to insure good voltage. There out there bro, just gotta I'm assuming your search tactics aren't the best Also, to your post above, wattage isn't a determining factor when it comes to keeping your voltage afloat. It is the consumption of the amplifier. For example, if you have a Class A/B 2000 watt amp from factory X, It may draw 500 amps, then you go buy a Class A/B 2000 watt amp from factory Y, and it only draws 200 amps, and for this example, we'll assume the amps are built from different regions I.E. China and Korea. The point is, you also may want to look at how efficient the amp is as well, also, keeping in mind you won't never run the amp at 100% for daily as well. -
Will do!! Will let you know ASAP!, Gotta cut them damn holes lol Me too!! Me Three!! I'm glad you guys are interested in my little build, makes me feel all gushy inside haha yeah, just a little bit. Stetsom 7ke or Sundown NS1?

Well, unless you monitor your voltage constant, and have a sufficient elect, I wouldn't pick up the stetsom, as they are touchy in that area. I believe the NS-1 would be more suitable as it may take more abuse before failing. There have been clamp test for both of these amps if that means anything to you. And the stetsoms go on sale all the time, you can pay 500-800$ for those, and the NS-1 just came out, so street prices on those will be minimum. -
Down here I 'guess" it was bad, ppl down here are just a bunch of va ja jas, not to be mean or harsh. But it was just some rain lol, I would hate for this city to see the weather I see while living up in the north. But for those ppl that got hit my the tornados, now thats different, and I hope they make a speedy recovery.

And also measure how much space you are will to sacrifice as well. So thats a total of TWO sets of measurements I would like for you to provide, one set for your current enclosure, and/or the space you would like to build a new one.
-
Can you please go and measure it yourself and post back.

Ok, small update, I didn't finsish the enclosure today Simply because we don't have anything at the house to cut perfect circles, but I believe my roomate is going to be kind enough to buy some adapter for the router, so I'm hopeing I can finish up tomorrow But I was able to put 4 walls up and 4 bracing in. Check out the pics Icon - Zcon Icon - Zcon Icon - Zcon Painted daily port Box from angle 1 Box from angle 2 I've also notice, replying since board update doesn't place nice with the latest version of FF But thats where I'm at right, just gonna let all that dry, then tomorrow, Place the double baffle and flush.

ok, last update for the night, I've been at this for 15hours today, and I'm beat, will conitnue tommorrow. Not really much of a progress since going to get food, I cut my daily port to length, will pain the outside tommorrow, but I layed gorilla ducktape in the inside walls, to help with the flow of the air. Maybe it will increase .002 dbs?

I believe these were the best value by far, sears and Lowes was about 24$ for 24", where these 20" were only 4.xx$ a piece! I will use them in the morning, I'm tired as balls right now to began putting the panels together, plus I need another set of hands. Thanks choo! Yea, progress is always good Stop slacking!! lol

Small update, I have finished my bracing dowels finally! Omg, that took forever, I got to go and get more screws now tho, and food, I'm starvin like marvin right now! Curse fast matabalizm Bracing Plates pre-cuts Don't mind the mess ups above^^ My excellent carpentre at its best Here they are stacked up, I smooved the edges, will it make it louder? I doubt it, but it looks nice lol And heres the final product And thats where I stand ATM, once I get back, I suppose I'm going to try and place some panels together, *nervous* Wish me luck!!
-
Thanks tim! It is fun, I'm actually enjoying this lol, but, dreading on cutting the panels is the pain I feel! Wow, and lets not start to talk about straight lines or sanding!! FML!!! I can't wait either, I hope I make some noise

I am feeling very good about this box build so far! The Zcon showed up in great condition, thank you very much Edoub. I am taking a small break right now as I've been working at this since I woke up (12ish). I'm making great progess, and I usually don't stop till I'm finish. Also, with the help of a friend, we have taken out the third row seating, and the stock subwoofer. After this update, I'm going to go back and finish up So for now, enjoy some pics! Gutted out third row Stock woofer location Stock Woofer My friend Dj installing the legs to keep the false floor level. Draw out of 4x4 displacement plate Another Third Row Zcon Shipping Zcon 8 Cut Outs, Double Baffle, Flush Clamps, Dowels, 10" Concrete Foam Tube New Tube vs Old 10" vs 8" And after 10hrs of updating with the board update Thats all I have atm, will now go back to work!! Also, for the dowels, I'm doing 2 Vertical, 2 Horizontal, and 2 Depth. I hope this works! Can't say enough thanks to Stefan, great guy
-
Thanks nem! My goal would to be louder than last MECA, which was a flat 140, the first place winner was 141.4, so I am also looking to beat that. I am not using a single dowel, instead, I will be using 6 with a 4"x4" plate to displace more bracing. this is who i was going to refer you too...sorry for the delay Its all good, thanks anyways, I know your a busy man. Time for an update!!

To answer your question, the lows are beneath the highs. If you know your not giving a lot of details, why post? Seriously, You need to provide a little bit more to help you. 1. How big is your current enclosure? 2. What is your current enclosure tuned to? 3. What vehicle is this in? If sedan, is it in trunk, is it sealed off? Also, you do know that you can't really "hear" the lows right? The "lows" only creates sound waves that will "flex" panels in your vehicle for lesser terms of ways to describe it. If you would like more of the lower end, then yes, I would suggest you tuner lower.

Another box build coming soon. I am going to attempt another box build, depending on the results, I may decide to build another box in the future exterior dimensions: 46" width x 17" height x 19" depth 6.985ft^3 displacement from second baffle (46"x17"x0.75"=586.5in^3 divide by 1728 = 0.3394ft^3) 0.3394ft^3 zcon displacement: 0.22ft^3 one 1" dowel vertical (15.5" height X pi*r^2, 15.5"*3.14*1^2 = 48.6946in^3 / 1728 = 0.0281ft^3): 0.0281ft^3 one 1" dowel horizontal (44.5" width * pi = 139.8in^ / 1728 = 0.08ft^3): 0.08ft^3 net volume ~6.31ft^3 Using one exterior mounted 10" sonotube / concrete form tube: Daily Port Tuning: 34hz Port Length: 21.7in Port Area: 78.54in^2 Vent Mach: 16.237 m/sec Comp Port Tuning: 45hz Port Length: 9.25in Port Area: 78.54in^2 Vent Mach: 12.268 m/sec

Go to hear chicken, got any pictures or vids to share?

Im assuming the ICONs ? Well the ICON is an amazing sq driver. Yes, but again, I would recommend any of them vs the ones you mentioned. If you can wait, sure, you can pick up the Gcon as it will be release shortly. OR, you could grab the icon, which would leave room to grow. Whats your opinion on the Skars My opinion on the skars is that it may be a step in the wrong direction, your first few option are a better choice.
