16v voltage spike?
Bryan Mckendry posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I was just wondering if this is bad for my car. I have two sa 12s and a hifonics BE2500.240a mechman alternator, big 3, zapper d2400 and a xp750. When I was playing Elie Gouldings "High for this" decaf after the bass drop my voltage shot up to 16.4 Is there something I should do to.regulate it? Or will it be.fine if it happens again? -

Final thoughts before I start building this for my sealed trunk wall? I am going to be putting in a Zv4 15" running on a BE.2500. Will it be alright for the total port area to be 12 in^2 more than the recommended? Thank you.

Im going to be building a sealed trunk enclosure. I have a Zv4 15 that will be firing forwards. The amp will be a BE.2500. I need some advice on how big the box should be. My max dimensions are 15.5 tall 42 wide and 36 deep. I would like to use an aero port instead of a slot port. How wide and long should the aero port be if i wanted the tuning frequency to be at 30 hz? Also, if im going with an aero port, does that mean the box size doesnt have to be as big to accommodate the slot port? To get the 68 in^2 port area would i need to have two aero's or could i get away with just one? Any help is appreciated.

Anyone else? -
I have a 2010 malibu with a 250A mechman, D2400 under the hood and 0g all round with a 4 cu box tuned to 35 hz. Hifonics BRE 1700.1, I would be using this amp for which ever sub i decide to get. Which subwoofer would be best for a daily driver? It would be a 15". My choices are as followed: Sundown Zv4 15, Psi Platform 3, X15, or a DC level 4? Im not making this to be a VS thread, i was just asking for some opinions on which would be best for a daily set up?

What size alternator?

I'm going to be upgrading my alternator. I have a 2010 Malibu 2.4l ecotec. I'm running a Hifonics 1700.1 BRE and I have a D2400 under the hood.. I was thinking about going with a Singer alternator and my question is, should I go with the 170A or the 240A? -

0 gauge all around. Yes it's an AGM. Just looking for an opinion if I should get the 170 or the 240 -

I currently don't have an amp for the front stage, plan on adding a 400.4 and I'm trying not to add a second battery. The D2400 is brand new. I have done the big 3 as well -
I was contemplating on which i would rather have. I was wondering if i should go with two Sa12s or a single zv3 15. Currently i have a Fi Bl 15 being powered with a Hifonics BRE 1700.1. My box size is going to have to stay around 3.5 cubes because of my limited trunk space in my 2010 Malibu. So would you guys prefer 2 sa12s or the single 15? P.s. I lean more towards lows, would the Sa's get very low?

Sundown Sa12's or single ZV3 15?

I like the Bl, im just looking to get a little more spl. -
Hi, I had a question on whether I should have 2 FIBl 15s or one single bl15. I would be powering them with a Hifonics Bre1700. If I had a single bl It would get 1700rms. Would it be any louder with two bls but with 850rms each? The box is roughly 4 cubic feet. Any help is welcome.

Would putting the subs in too small of an enclosure result in blown woofers or overall poor performance?
-
So should i get a second BL? I didn't understand what you meant.
-
It is brutal, just wondering if it would hurt to get another?
-
No. I have a 2010 Malibu. It's an okay sized trunk but the height of the trunk is about 14 inches so I have to have the subs firing up
-
I'm going to be building a second enclosure for my Fi Bl 15. For my first enclosure I made it out of Birch Plywood so what I was wondering was if Cherry, walnut or poplar would be good for a box?
-
I'm talking Hardwood. I know poplar isint considered a hardwood though

Battery options help

I currently have a Hifonics BRE1700.1d, I have done the Big 3 to my car which is a 2010 Malibu. My voltage drops crazy fast from 14.6 to 11.6 when certain songs are playing. What I was wondering is if an XS power D1200 would be sufficient enough to use as my battery under the hood? Or should I got for the XS power D2400? I don't want to get a H/O alternator or a second battery for the trunk. Thank you -

I currently have a hifonics 1500.1 and a Fi bl 15. As I was listening to it today, the sub cut out and started to make a crackling noise. When I turned the volume down really low, the bass became normal again, but then I tried to turn the volume up a little it began to make the crackling noise again. Duly think I could have blown the coils? Could it be a rca problem? Could the wires in the box come loose? Any feedback is appreciated, thank you.
