So, I had a little whoopsie the other day when my tweet fell off and hit my brand new ID 6.5" woofer, putting a very fine crack in the dustcap. It's only about an inch long, and it's a clean split... you hardly even notice it's there. What would somebody recommend I put on this to keep it from getting worse? It's not a gaping hole or anything it's hair-thin... thanks!

What kind of coverage do you have on them though? Full coverage on all?

That's cool. I have about 480 songs filed under "Texas Rap", about 100 in "Chopped and Screwed", like 50 or 60 under "Classic Texas Rap" (like Fat Pat, Big Mello, Lil Troy etc. etc.) and a playlist of about 100 of straight bass songs, not to mention my repertoire of slow jams and hundreds of "party music" songs not filed under any other category... yeah I'm nearing 2000 pretty quick

no educated boo hoo... you come out of the wood work for a 2 word zigger huh. i guess the fact that i listen to rap make me uneducated right? your right about the educated part... i lost my home at the age of 14.. i got a full time job for a month untill i had enough money for a bus ticket out of florida i traveled all over the us.. staying at shelters working a month at a time.. until my bosses told me they MUST have a copy of my ID and SSN.. then i would quit and get back on a bus.. head to another state... do the same thing all over. see school was not an option for me. i had to work.. i allways looked older then i am growing up and even to this day. thank god otherwise i would have never gotten these jobs. so while working and move around the US looking for a new home, i had NO one to turn to, NO ONE to cry, soab sulk to... no one to give me advice no one to trust. all i had were rap cd's the only people who were talking about the struggles i faced everyday.. being poor homeless uneducated and parentless the only push i got was from these rap cd's so if your saying im uneducated because dont sit in the SUV my mommy gave me listing to john mayor and fall out boys singing and dreaming about how lovly it is to be carried in life.. yeah i guess your right.. im stupid. but if your saying im uneducated because i listen to rap... well thats just plain stupid. im not a writer, im not a spelling bee champion, but while you were crawling in bed with your mom and dad because you have a scary dream i was living life... when you were 10 years old i had bills, problems,and a broken heart. so tell me how it feels 22 at college still sucking that family tit! im 26 i own everything i need..and i have most of what i want.... i came from nothing... just like thise rapers you hate. at the age of 26 i am the bread winner for my family... i moved them from florida. to texas... my mom and family lives with ME in MY house. I pay the bills this is MY roof over their heads. i play the role your daddy does huh. so the next time you think your cool because your smart... just know your not better then me. and when you get out of college and you or your mom and dad are 80k in debt ... keep inmind im already ahead and ill still make more money then you. and i still have that life advatage. but dont worry... you can allways call people names on the internet to make your self feel better! No but really I have about 1000 songs in constant rotation on my iPod out of 1800, but the artists that see the most play are Jeezy, Gorilla Zoe, Chamillionaire, hmm... I can't really pick out any one song. Anything with a nitty beat is good.

I too came over here after being banned from CA.com randomly for being an "08er" along with about 30 other people. The mods were just bored I guess so we all got banned for a month. I have learned a lot in the past 6 months about car audio and have done my best to help anybody I can, internet or real life, with all aspects of my knowledge (of which I still have a lot to learn) and didn't do anything to deserve a ban but I guess that's what you get when a bunch of immature kiddies run the site.

Thanks man. The crack is so small at first glance it looks like a hair on the dustcap. You think a thin coat of clear silicone caulking over the crack would be OK?

Still truckin' Got the pods sanded down, the holes trimmed to size, and started some bodywork (will have to finish on Monday @ work with a DA, because the Bondo's too thick to sand by hand ) I discovered that one of my woofers has a small crack on the dust cap when the tweeter fell on it a few days ago... it's pretty small and not opened up or anything so I don't know how that will affect anything.

Haven't tried the Q's sealed but they still sound great in my ported box.

CA glue (aka super glue ) I had my buddy hold the baffle where I wanted it and took some measurements, cut the dowels and glued them in place. I'm tellin' you man those 8's would probably fit in your doors with some custom mods Being how heavy they are they would need 2/3 times the about of glass I'm using but it could work

It's all good man... Back with some progress here. I ground the baffles down to rings and got them properly imaged today, mounted them with dowels, wrapped them in fleece and proceeded to slather them with resin They look great so far... tomorrow I will grind off the excess fleece at work and proceed to bodyworking these bad boys... I also still need to cut the hole in my door panel. So here's what I got so far... The pods set up for wrapping... Looks a little strange now but stay tuned All wrapped up Wetted with resin Don't look at the backside... needs a lot of bodywork

I was just browsing the website and noticed you guys added an option to choose dustcap colors... cool stuff! It's nice to see little things like that added every once in a while. Keep up the great work guys

Yeah that's the same advice I heard when doing research on them... but they sounded like crap anywhere below the dash. The other half of that assumption though is that every vehicle is different. If I had a truck the kickpanel thing would've been a for sure thing. And the way my doors are it's near impossible to create a line-of-sight between the tweets and the ear. I will probably end up attenuating the tweeters -3dB to make up for the distance thing... that is until I can afford an active-capable HU and a 4 channel amp I will let you know how it goes man I should have everything finished by the end of the week. And I'll drive up there (or vice versa) when I get it done... So the CDTs are replacing the comps you have in there now? And you're going to put the 6.5"s in your door? What are you gonna do with those sexy 8's you have ?

Feh. I hooked the speakers up today to work on the imaging... and the tweeter is going bye-bye from the door pod. Sounded like ish and it's blocked by passenger's leg. I even tried placing it down in the kick panel, but it just sounded like I had a pair of speakers on the floor I kept the woofer in the door and moved the tweet up in the A-pillar... BIG difference! Looks like I have a little bit more work to do before everything's done. Will keep you all updated.

Made a little progress on the door pods today. I trimmed/ported/test fit the glass backplate, bored out the speaker holes in the baffles, and rounded the edges. The woofer and tweeter are flush mounted, although the tweet hole needs a little bit more diameter on it which I will do tomorrow.
