Hey all... After a few months of running my ID comps off of a bridged 4CH amp (150wRMS) dialed down to about 100wRMS, I got a wild hair up my ass and decided to run them off of one channel each. The output was about the same but the clarity is so much better! My Q's are still drowning out the highs though so I'm looking into multiple speakers... I have my 6.5"s in custom door pods, and the tweets in the sail panels. I was going to put two Kenwood 5.25"s that I have in the rear sails (run off HU), maybe purchase a set of 4" speakers for the upper front doors(run off HU), which would leave me with an extra two channels on the Infinity to slap onto another set of co-ax speakers but I'm debating on where to put them... The dash is out of the question because of the airbag, I have some real estate on the knee bolsters but that would leave the speakers downfiring... and I spent quite a bit of time on the door pods so I wouldn't want to re-do them to accomodate another set of speakers... any of you guys running multiple speakers have any ideas? Thanks!

Yes I've seen that ugly bastard at a car show last summer, the paint job was horrible. You can see runs and sags all around the window seams, it's like a 6 year old got ahold of mommy's nail polish and went ape$hit on the truck

No I haven't Well the tonal quality of my components is excellent, but I need basically the entire frequency range to be louder. I need more volume. I don't necessarily care about closing my eyes and visualizing where such-and-such is playing a guitar on my dashboard, but I do care about clarity and tonal quality and faithfulness of reproduction, and right now my bass tends to drown out most of the mid-range frequencies on the louder songs.

Oh BTW Jon I was thinking of cutting the back of my box and bonding in a Lexan window with some light inside... whattdya think?
-
I might buy a set and then experiment with different locations on the A-pillar... unless you beat me to it
-
That might be a little harder to pull off in a sedan though, the roof being a little closer to the driver/passenger. Maybe if they were crossfired?
-
Nice, that's custom right?
-
Like high up in the pillar?
-
Kicks were my first option for the components, but my footwells don't really accomodate any sort of speakers down there... BTW I stared at your avatar for a good long while lol

Jon we are so on the same wavelength I had though about glassing some custom pods in the A-Pillars as well... I'm not too sure how loud 4" speakers can get though, and if it might be too harsh blasting you right in the face you know? Unless you attenuated the volume Oh and *correction above* my tweets are in the sails and not the a-pillars

I have 2 15" Q's ported at 32Hz in 7cuft off of 2200wRMS... they get loud and low like a mother! If you want the deep bass ported is really the way to go bud. And my electrical is stock as well, I am even running a 300wRMS amp for my highs. the only electrical mod I have is an Optima RedTop/Big 3... have slight dimming at FULL TILT and I have a '95 Deville not too different from your sedan so you really shouldn't see a problem. You can check out the video below, I'm playing "Mr. Jones" chopped and screwed and I'm sure the bass hits around 20-25Hz... look about halfway through the video it's ridiculously low... Hope that helps!

Couldn't tell ya right off hand man but yeah I'm pretty sure they're 35 series. -
Well, as Jon knows, about a month ago I had curb jump right out in front of my car and demolish two of my wheels on the left side... I managed to turn around and head back to my buddies house on two flats (it was about 5 minutes away). Here is the aftermath... So I recently sold the 70 Chevy I had been holding on to for $1000 to some guy in Corpus and I purchased a new set of wheels (Velocity 780's) which I like better than the old ones anyhow... after I bought them I discovered I could've just bought two new wheels for about $300 online and these new wheels cost $800 (with my old wheels as a trade) but ah well... I also ordered me three sets of CC Tubes from Oznium.com for my footwells, seats, and grille but only two survived my install (my oafish ass leaned up against two of the tubes shattering them). These things are really great! I plan to mount the switched in the overhead light assembly when I have time. Oh, and the chrome swan on the front . I plan to add another set of speakers in the front doors, and two in the rear sail panel (I keep blowing tweeters for some reason, the power is fine, I have no idea what's going on. I need the treble to keep up with the bass. Tell me what yall think. Oh and Jon I called you that morning of the car show and you didn't pick up dude!!!

And that is why I would never run low pros one little rock in the road can cost you ALOT of $$$$$.. Ouch It was more than a little rock though, I hit that curb dead on at about 40MPH lol -

Well I have the Infinity 475a (75wx4), (150x2) RMS The speakers are rated for 100wRMS so I adjusted the gains to right around that range, and set the amp on FULL pass (which is what I think blew one of my 6.5"s and two of my tweets). I installed two more tweets, and changed the cutoff to HIGH pass on the amp and one of the new tweets died in one day which leads me to believe it was faulty... the other one is still working fine. But my driver's side 6.5" is blown, it still plays but everything is garbled and distorted. I think it was getting too much bass because before they had mad excursion, now it's much more subtle and clearer sounding. -
Because you don't half ass chit man you go all the way head first lol Don't worry that's a good thing chit when are you off next man I want to see that ish in person

You can't just ditch the emblem man! Besides, I think it looks much better with the emblem in front than with the bird just hanging off the hood Haha, it's been a while.... I need to get out there with my Dove soap and take care of the leather, and throw a coat of wax or two on what's left of her good paint -
Dang Jon you are crazy I love it Those wheels are badass, that car should really be on airbags...

Met up with Edgar today at the Gigante flea market, and I got a chance to make a vid with the new phone finally. It really doesn't do justice but it's better than the last video I had!
