Johnathan Price Demo of DSS Ethos
dharris2488 replied to Sencheezy's topic in Direct Sound Solutions
How you liking the 12's? I got a pair on order. getting anxious... Building enclosure as we speak. I'm having a hell of a time getting my tuning down to 32, so I settled at 33hz. Hope it doesn't affect the sound too much... I'd imagine these subs will still shine... I'm amazed at every video i've seen with these subs. Quentin has something good going on with this line. I'm sure it won't be too long before Ethos is a very common name... I'm also sure I just bought a set of "pure pleasure!" drivers. My Camry is going to BANG! What's nice is they seem fairly musical as well. Come on and get here... I've got 4K waiting for them! -

In the process of sealing off trunk of 2013 Camry. Need advise, as the trunk is shaped all kinds of funky. Building a frame to get a "wall of sorts" to eventually bolt my enclosure on to. I'm not finished with the sound dampening either. I have 40sq/ft on the way and should be able to finish up the trunk. I used some cheaper stuff at first, but that was a waste, as now i'm going back over it with Stinger RoadKill and QMat.

From the album: My Trunk Build
Width of the opening about 40.5", depth is around 8", and the height is around 16.5, but slopes downward to the edge. Frickin' Toyota!© David Harris

From the album: My Trunk Build
Starting new trunk build. Need advise on how to seal this off properly. I want my new DSS Ethos to shine! Subs/Port forward firing into cabin. My port will be on the driver side, opposed to being in the center.© David Harris

Will do... I will snap some pics now and post. I will start working on my enclosure for now and run some wire, until I get a good understanding of what it takes to seal off a trunk. This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway. If "properly sealed off," with same power and subs, should I notice a DB increase? Basically, is this the "best" way to face an enclosure for SPL and SQ in a sedan? I know variables exist that can come into play, but going from rear fired to sealed (trunk, not enclosure) forward, theoretically I should notice an increase in SPL? It should also reduce trunk rattle almost completely as well?- 106 replies

Nice area.. we thought about moving out there, but decided here. Any shows in our area coming up? Like I mentioned, I'm just getting back in the swing of things and don't really know where the local or regional shows are. Can you steer me in the right direction to find this info out? Maybe we meet up one day and show each others stuff off over a few brewski's... -

Thanks guys. Finally got everything pulled from my trunk. Why do I do this in the summer? It's only 94 out! Thanks for the welcome...
