The joys of SPL is test, test and more test. And lot's of beer!

Titebond II Wood glue is what I like to use and clamps. I glue and brad nail all of my boxes and never have had one come apart. But I don't run a bazillion watts either. Just a reference in my truck (extended cab) I used (2) 4" aeros side firing on each side of my enclosure for my IA Deathrow 18" and achieved a respectable 146.3-146.5 on the SPL Labs LCD Meter at 42hz. All powered off a Sundown SAX-1200D amplifier.

Test with a DB Meter and move the box around until you find the sweet spot for your vehicle.

Budget for subs? Budget for electrical upgrades ie. Batts, alternator, wire etc? -

40hz tone is what I have used when using an O-Scope. -
Stinger Volt Meter & Remote Turn On Wire

You can split it and use 1 section for +12 and the other section for +12 remote. -
I have done plenty of truck installs and side firing in a single cab has produced the best results. I have a full size GMC extended cab and ran a single IA DR 18" off 1 Sundown SAX-1200D and before I sold it, it consistently hit 146.3-146.5 on the SPL-Labs LCD Meter at 42HZ.

I tend to tune around 35hz for my tuning as that seems to sound best for my listening tastes. Your looking at roughly 2.5-3.0 cubic feet for a pair of SA-10". I would look to do 2 4" Aeros side firing into the cab corners of your truck.

Very nice! Can I trade in my 10" DCON in for a new 10" ICON .... Seriously I think it's time for an upgrade in 2012 for my Civic.

MDF is just fine to use. Birch Plywood is lighter, more expensive but very good acoustical properties. But plain plywood is not recommended for sub enclosures. A link to the enclosure your referring to would be helpful.

Not at all familiar with Axiom but these sure look like a winner.

I noticed that. But i prefer to get all the wire in the ring terminal with the welding cable, rather than having to trim some down with the CA cable. Seemed pointless. If I want 2/0 I will get 2/0. Welding cable still meets the standards for 1/0, IIRC. Getting pure copper, be it a tad smaller than leading CA cable, cheaper than CCA I'm all over that But you can get pure copper car audio wire for same as welding wire. And if you use the correct ring terminals, you don't have to trim. But if you use 1/0 welding ring terminals, you will. But why would you think its pointless if you have to trim? Do you think just cause the wire isn't actually in the terminal, that its not getting used? I meant it's pointless to have a wire that's so large you have to trim it to use it with crimpable ring terminals. I don't solder my terminals, I prefer pure copper terminals I can crimp. So I guess I don't use the "correct" ones for CA wire. Oh well, those are too expensive anyways. This is a much better ring terminal than this imo!

Congrats to the winner!

I believe the new IA 40.1 is an all new circuit design and of course smaller footprint. But just like the old version it will do more than rated and be stable to .5 ohm. You won't hear an audible difference between old and new.

Got some new rims and tires. *Pics

Driver selection for a 3-way active front stage
Kanaworm$ replied to edouble101's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Just a thought here but take a look at this 3" full range from Aura. This could make for a a really nice 2 way active setup with your Exodus drivers. Possible mounting options could be down in the kicks or up in the A-pillars. -
I think SSA sells Skar subs not sales them. I blame my Engrish teacher. . I blame your teacher too ...

i vouch for this guy on getting your skar subs I wouldn't vouch shit for somebody like this!

To bad it takes a few bad apples to ruin a good thing going. One reason I won't support or recommend SKAR to anyone is the undercutting!

I love creating Shitbrix moments! Best is when last years MWSPL top dog champ did a burst and it made my friend about jump through the roof due to him having his back turned and not ready for it.
