Which amp is best for my xcon.
Kanaworm$ replied to gadgeteer123's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just to add to what jay-cee said a stronger electrical will yield more output from your amp. Also I have found from past experience that a trunk loaded subwoofer system plays lower as the seat can act like a filter. A hatch or suv will play low as well but seems to sound louder to the ear due to less restrictions. -
Yup! PPI and Orion before ADST and Directed. Hi-Fonics and Crunch before Maxxsonics. Phoenix Gold before Rodin and AAMP. Soundstream before Epislon Electronics and Rockford Fosgate Punch and HD series. All old school amps I run Sundown now because I wanted to try something other than mainstream and glad that I did!

Why 3 different post on the same subject?

I would take an Incriminator Sub or any other sub from the SSA store over a Type R. I did an a-b comparison with my DCON 10" versus the local Alpine/Rockford dealer's Type-R in my truck. The DCON had more "sq" and while not as loud to the ear, it wasn't lacking by much when comparing to the Type R. IMO I feel you would be more satisfied with the Incriminator over the Alpine in "SQ" and output.

Good luck! Very impressive!

Good choice on the Incriminator DR. I love my LI's and you should be more than happy with the DR! Not to bash any product but RD is one shady company and I would never deal with them or recommend them. Just do a quick google search and you will see what I mean! Good Luck!

does that increase or decrease the tuning of the box? Shouldn't do anything to tuning as long as you keep the same overall length. Same with 45 degree corners, just account for them in your design.

I run a pair of LI series 15" and they are a great subwoofer. Loud, sound good and should be no problem hitting your goals. But if your looking for more of an SPL goal, I would look to move up to the DR series.

Which amp is best for my xcon.

Unless your looking for 10ths of a db on a TL meter for comps you will not audibly be able to tell the difference. Even though the Sundown is my choice. Also no such thing as "under powering" a subwoofer. -
Double up the front baffle as those woofers are huge! Try firing up! Have the port on the drivers side as far over as it can go. 45 corners would help with air flow. Round all sharp corners around port and box.

Sundown FTW! But as Duran stated i'm very biased as well....

Great set up! I swapped out my 100.4 and 1500D to the 50.4 and 1000D and they do a great job together. Plenty of power without taxing a factory electrical. Jump on the 1000D great little underrated powerhouse!
-
They are great sounding drivers that get plenty loud off very little power. 3 12" is going to be a little hard to fit in whatever car your putting them in. I would look at doing a pair of 10" or 12" and put them in the recommended ported enclosure. 1000 watts would be perfect on a pair, just be careful with your gain and other settings.
