    Broke 150 barely

Well guys I finally did it. I broke 150db. I got a 150.7db @ 36Hz in the passenger kick with a TL and drivers door open. USACI Modified 1001-2000W Vehicle: 2002 GMC Envoy Subs: (4) Phoenix Gold Ti12d Elite Box: 11 cu ft @ 28Hz behind "C" Pillar Amps: (2) Sundown SAZ-3000d stapped using a Maxxlink @ 2ohms HU: Pioneer DEH-P940MP

    Prototype Big Boy SPL Motor

This was done on a 16V system correct? 9k on a pair of 3000ds strapped is insane. Makes me wanna switch over to 16v setup but I already got (3) D3100s and a 300amp alt. edit: what kinda meter do you have? I've never seen a handheld KW meter

boykroy what part of the country do you live in?
  8. I got 2nd place in the Modified 1001 - 2000W class last night with a score of 147.0db @ 48Hz in the kick panel of my '02 GMC Envoy. This score to me seems really odd though. A month ago with my stock 150Amp Alt I did a 147.9db @ 38Hz sealed on the dash but this time sealed in the kick I was only able to achieve 147.0db @ 48Hz with a 300Amp alt. Can anyone comment as to why you think that is so? Also looks like I have an issue somewhere with my wiring. I can play music all day long at full tilt with no problems, but once I put on the USACI Shootout CD and play a test tone the slave amp goes into protect once I hit 12V. Forget to mention before above. System consists of (2) Sundown 3000d strapped @ 2ohms, (4) Phoenix Gold Ti12d Elite subs, (3) Powermaster D3100 batteries, (1) Optima Yellowtop, 1/0AWG wire throughout, 8AWG Speakerwire Thinking I need to unstrap and run seperate. Thanks for the input guys.

Took 2nd Place at the local comp last night

where can i find a maxx-link? Can't find one anywhere on the net.

Took 2nd Place at the local comp last night

I was able to do the 1001-2000 class because they were only concerned about the 4ohm rating of the amplifier.

    Low Frequency Extension

I see you still have the PG Ti12d Elite. That thing is a low end monster if box parameters are designed properly. Personally I have 4 in a common chamber tuned at 28Hz. Check out phoenixphorum.com and search for the 12d Elite. Here are a couple links of a guy that put one in a lexus tuned to 25Hz: http://phoenixphorum.com/my-car-at-the-las...html?highlight= http://phoenixphorum.com/updates-on-my-box...html?highlight=

yea it was an odd difference; but what i can't figure out is why the slave amp is going into protect on sine waves but not music

how did you not drop below 14.7? I got a 300amp alt, yellowtop under hood and 3 Powermaster D3100s in the back by the amps and at full tilt i still drop to around 12V

yea its up and running i love the way it sounds i just need to work on my front stage still as far as numbers go i hit a 147.9db@38Hz on the dash sealed up I know there is a little more left because the two sundown amps shut down due to low voltage. Hope to go to another comp soon with my new 300Amp alternator see what i do now

glad to see there is another PG fan here. here are a few pics from my install of (4) PG Ti12d Elites I used 1 1/8" MDF all around with a double baffle. So the top is 2.25" MDF

    First Comp

Went to a USACi comp in Marrerro, LA last night. Took 1st place with a 147.9db @38Hz Legal all sealed up on the dash. No camera with me so i'll post pics of the plaque when I get back home later tonight. I feel as if I could've gotten really close to the 150 mark but the amps kept going into protection. I got two SAZ-3000d strapped together on (4) Phoenix Gold Ti12d Elite subs. When I put a meter on my terminals I get a DC Resistance of 1.7 ~ 2.0 ohms which doesn't make any sence because the subs are dual 4ohms. Not sure why I sometimes get a resistance less than 2ohms. Each sub is series for an 8ohm load then all paralleled to one set of terminals which should be a 2ohm load. But at the comp last night as soon as I would get to 37~38Hz the system would just stop playing. Once I turned off the amps for about 30 seconds then turn back on they went back to playing fine with no problems. Do you think its possible that at 37Hz my impedance is dropping to low? Should I add a second set of terminals, unstrap the amps and run a 1ohm load per amp? Thanks for all the help guys.

    First Comp

well i got an Iraggi 300Amp Alternator installed yesterday. Did a quick test of the system. Idle voltage at rear batteries is now 14.2 vs 13.8. At close to full tilt and around 1200rpm the lowest voltage drop seen was 12V. Looks like I am going to replace my stock battery with a Powermaster D3100 if it will fit. And if I can find room for another one in the back I will as well.

I got an optima yellowtop under the hood, (3) powermaster D3100s in the back, 1/0 power and ground from under hood to rear batteries. Still need to do the big 3

I knew they had the undervoltage protection; It's just I didn't think I was getting that low of voltage.

    First Comp

I was wondering if it went into protect with low voltage. I got a 300amp alt showing up on tuesday. So I'll hopefully find out soon if that was the problem.

    Big Sundown Build

If my math is correct. With 16 SAZ-3000d if he's only running a 12V system then that is gonna be in the range of 48Kw continuos probably in the range of 70-80kw for burps.

SAZ 2000d to come after 5k?

If you're worried about an extra 500 watts. Why not just get the 3000d and have extra headroom? I've always learned its better to have too much power than not enough.
