OK checked the box and went to another shop out of town had it checked out and its 34hz... The ssf is on point now .. Haven't messed with it much in a while. Just still wondering what the best crossover point. It was all set at 80hz last but sounded a bit slopy.. What do most you guys crossover 12's at ? -

Wow this really got off topic... The box is 34hz tunning end of subject. How, when, where, who its 34hz.. Hate that you guys doubt that... Most likely you have been fu*ked over from a shop or know some one who has... A local shop got me once.. I done research and found one of the best dude's around to do my boxes and they always turn out amazing. I have delt with shady shops its terrible.- 22 replies

best crossover frequency for 12's and slope?
audiohz replied to audiohz's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
that was actually a mistake its 34hz.. The box was professionally built by a very reputable shop. That still doesn't garuntee it's tuned to 34 Hz. If you have a way to measure the tuning I would suggest you do so. its 34hz i can garuntee that! -

On the subsonic I have seen so many different ways on that from half octave to 5hz below and 1 or 2 hz below, so I'm not really sure is the best . the box is tuned at 35hz subs are sundown sa12. -
Ok so I got a set of SA 12's a few months back had originally had two e12's on my old amp but replaced the amp with a saz-1200d and my e12's was dual 2ohm so I ordered two of the new v2 dual 4ohm but find out a few days later they are out of stock.. so thinking I asked if I could just pay the difference for two new Sa12's I was told sure. . So now after having them and meeting a few other people's that have sa's looking at mine it almost looks like I was sent B stock . Im not pointing blame would just like to know because I paid for grade A.. I cant post pictures right now but the gule around the dust cap one one is kinda sloppy and on the other one it looks like a drop of glue is on the cone.. I dont know if this is normal for this sub because I haven't seen anyone else's in person like this. Im sure sundown will make it right if I was sent the wrong ones but its the weekend and just curious if anyone on here might know...

yeah man SERIOUSLY! !!

From everyone ive personally spoke with sundown is really good about customer care and will most likely take care of it I hope.. I really dont want to buy two more just to try to have a flawless matching pair...
-
I cant really understand this as A stock though ... when I read the description of what they sell as B stock well this is what I have.

I ran old school rockford hx and hx power back in the day and replaced a few here and there and they always looked perfect. Maybe my standards are to high .

IDk maybe im wrong for feeling this way but I believe paying $200 for a 12 inch sub when get one two years later being its the same model I should have an identical twin! When I order two at the same time should be identical. I wouldn't say you were wrong per-say, but I have a feeling that sundown might tell you the same. hope not I got these subs for the look also . The look not is not A quality. .. if this is A stock I hate to see B stock lol... I spent a lot on a custom enclosure an would like my subs to not only sound but look flawless.

setting gain with dmm car on or off?
audiohz posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Ok so with a sundown saz1200d its 12 volt ratting is 1200+ watts an something like 1400+ at 14 volt .. so when setting the gain to be some where safe would it be better to set it with the car running? I have the big 3 done an a hc1400 up front an a hc800 in the back... -
I've seen a lot on the net about how the smd dd1 can damage sundown amps... Why? How? An why is this only sundown amps. Is it all user error or what?

setting gain with dmm car on or off?
audiohz replied to audiohz's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I've set it both ways an sounds good but the amps Clip light when at high volume stays red showing clipping so how accurate is that? -
so if the smd dd1 is used properly by the user manual it won't hurt a sundown amp correct?
-
lots of post online of repair work from db-r.com sayin the damage was from people who used the smd dd1 on the amp... Sundown
-
ok but still yet how could it damage the amp? Sundown in question.

audiohz replied to audiohz's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The ddx370 has a subwoofer level control that goes to -50 an +10 .. my older kenwood didn't have this . So I emailed kenwood to ask if that wouy effect my sub RCA voltage an they said no not at all. It's 4 volts at max clean signal. But I know I've heard you have to max that output on some decks to get proper voltage. My gain is set very high with a dmm to reach 34.6 volt with the sub level at 0.
