what amp exactly are you using?
-
i would set the amp gain at .2v or just BARELY, BARELY ABOVE that, i mean BARELY to be safe
-
Look up your head unit's specs on the internet, and find out what the rca pre out voltage is rated at it should be I looked it up for you it is 2.5Volts : )
-
If your amp gain is set to match your H/U's output voltage then using any bass boost on the deck or on the amp is just adding distortion/clipping and stress to the system.
-
thank you for correcting/detailing what I meant by "full gain", I did not mean to run it all the way : ) but in fact just to the H/U's output voltage. I would hate for someone to have misread that and clip their sub to death in minutes!!!
-
a good practice is to not ever use the bass boost knob on the amp. Yes it is safe to run 1ohm right away, and also is even safe to run full gain(meaning matching it to your H/U's output voltage!) if you pay mind to temperatures and smells, you dont want any frequencies above 120hz max running through your sub woofer so on these hifonics amps you want to run the low pass between 11-12 oclock positions.

ok first off tbe price doesnt match the quality.. the n3 slammed on burps but nothing else.. but thats what it was designed for so no complaints from it really... the team fi... supposed to be some kind of god send.. not so much.. it was loud but sounded like shit while doing so.. reminded me so much of a orion hcca I bout puked.. im sure fi isna decent product but im just not buyin it So far the sound quality of my BL is amazing and I have no problems or issues with it's performance, it gets loud, it is accurate and tight both up high and way down low and moves a ton of air. I am a happy owner so far for sure!

no offense taken...I simply decided to order one from them : ) they are close to me, I know they do good work and wanted to try them out! A return question from me would be: Why would you never ever own another Fi sub?

1600watts rms to the sub the mids are hooked up to a 1k by 4 amp...I will take vids but I am breaking this thing in so when I do it is showing it's full potential!

I would get the Hifonics Brutus series if I were you..the BRX2000.1D is only $239 at sonicelectronix. The Brutus series is what I have and it will never fail me!

lol, Patience is a tough virtue to obtain, but much peace comes when one does in fact obtain it! It is SOOO worth the wait.
-
I got my Fi BL before I ever got my shipping info, lol...so it truly was a big surprise!! got it in under a month by nearly a week!
-
LMFAO...
-
I personally opted for Non sandwiched leads on purpose with my Fi BL 12".

Two 4ohm DVC subs have to be wired TOGETHER in parallel and then to the amp in parallel to get a 1ohm load out of each sub. Unless your bridging which you wouldn't be with that Hifonics amp, because it is bridged internally.

in your case you want the left speaker on the left positive and negative and the right speaker on the right positive and negative untill you get an amp with one set of terminals or actually most mono's are set up with 2+'s and 2-'s meaning they are internally bridged.
-
that being well said, here is the most popular and easy to decipher sub woofer diagram link: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2-DVC-4-ohm-mono-low-imp.jpg

what is a fair price too you? If you can't find what your looking for here on SSA... I picked up a very nice brand new set of components for 99.00 on ebay: Kenwood Excellon XR1800P's. Couldn't be more happy with my purchase (they sell locally for over 300 dollars!)and people do buy them at that price it's nuts...
