Oxygen audio amps
Impious replied to SacredTanakh's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Why spend the money on a new amp? If the power is going to be reasonably close to the same you still are not going to hear any difference. Seems like a waste of money to buy something that does exactly the same thing as what you have now. Where did you hear it comes "over spec"? Even IF it is somewhat underrated, it won't be enough to matter. People put way too much emphasis on an amplifier being "underrated".....you aren't getting a bargain or a deal, and you aren't going to hear a difference. They intentionally designed the amplifier to do everything it does and have accounted for all of the parts and design in the price. It does exactly what they wanted it to do, and you are being charged for everything that it does. They just chose to print a different power rating on the box. That's it. -
Set it by ear, then check with measurements after if you feel the need. The only time I ever pulled out a DMM to set my gains is level matching left & right

Well, I didn't see any other videos that this could be an installment from. As such......he's not "wrong", but all of the necessary information isn't presented to allow the novice this was presumably targeted at to completely understand the information. As I said in my prior post......having differential inputs on the amplifier doesn't mean you are running the type of system he is talking about in that video. That said I agree with his premise.....unless you are running balanced, you are better off with shielded cables.
-
Are there other installments to this series? It appears his description is incomplete. This first problem with his description is that in order for the signal to be balanced, which is what he's describing for the differential input with the phase inverted signal, is that the source must output a balanced signal with a phase inverted signal. And that is extremely rare these days. I can only imagine the number of kids watching that video who are going to automatically assume because they see "differential input" as a feature of their amplifier that their system is operating as he's describing. Doesn't work that way. You need a source that transmits a balance signal and an amplifier that accepts that balanced signal, such as one with differential balanced inputs. Unless you are actually using a balanced signal transfer (source outputs a balanced signal), then standard shielded cables are what you need. Just because your amplifier has differential inputs does not mean you are using a balanced system. Even if your amplifier has differential inputs, if your source does not output a balanced signal then you still want shielded cables. If you by chance are running a balanced system with the method described in the video then yes, twisted cables are what you want.

Alpine "Tune It" App...Thoughts?
Impious replied to handman84's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the day we can tune via phone...will be a good damn day. Meh. I don't have a smart phone, don't want one, and the times I've used them I end up getting really annoyed. -
Renaissance Audio was formerly known as Morel USA. They were finally forced to change their name probably 7-8 years ago. It's not the same Morel that you find at places like Parts Express. That is Morel Israel. The two split many years ago and had a long battle over use of the name & products.

Alpine "Tune It" App...Thoughts?
Impious replied to handman84's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I couldn't verify from the information I could find that it actually has "active" tuning.....it says it has HPF/LPF but I saw no mention of bandpass. If it doesn't do bandpass, it doesn't do a true active for front stage purposes. -
Alpine "Tune It" App...Thoughts?

Quick google search, couldn't find any real information about the actual tuning capabilities/functionality. I think the database of other user's settings and share-ability isn't very useful or wise. Settings are all going to be different for each user's preference, system design & equipment, as well as vehicle. What works for Joe Blow in facebook world doesn't mean dick to my system. And downloading his settings thinking it's going to be "great" for my system simply because he was the most active and obtained the level of "Master Golden Ear" is simply going to fuck people up. I also found this little blurb interesting; So it doesn't sound like adjustments are real time? Can they be real time or do you have to make all of the adjustments then download them to the receiver for them to actually take effect? If it's the later, then that would be a major PITA to use. -
I would much rather bridge the 4 channel for more power than worry about bi-amping. If you were active I could see an advantage, but with passives the tweeter adjustment will get the balance close enough in most instances and the higher power by bridging (or a higher powered 2-channel) will allow for greater headroom....I'm a fan of mo' powa

Not really the way it works.....

15+ years ago. Not anymore.

There's more to a surround than simply the material it's made of.

JL also just released the 10TW3 which is pretty reasonably priced. Alpine's Type R shallows appear to be pretty well designed as well.

This. Second cars don't save you money. It is for emotional reasons or convince of not having to drive your truck. Or for back up reasons...I've found it extremely helpful to have a spare vehicle around to drive when one of them takes a shit....such as situations like Lantz has right now. Won't save money, sure....but saves having to coordinate the bumming of a vehicle from a relative. Then again I don't drive very nice vehicles so one of them goes down pretty frequently....
-
Haters gonna hate. I guess lol... Here in AZ we don't need them often, today I was driving and tried to clean my windshield with the wipers and they weren't there haha. I seriously didn't know what to think, who does that shit? I don't know but that's pretty funny......going to keep that one in my back pocket for the next time I'm really drunk.

Thanks for reminding me I wanted to catch it, see if it was interesting.

Hopefully your insurance will take of you.

Thanks. Aside from paying 5 times the actual cost of the ticket my 2nd concern is that they would end up being fake tickets. But I spent some time reading reviews and really didn't run across that issue in customer complaints as often as I would have thought. The only one I really found SH actually got ahold of the buyer before the event to advise him the tickets were invalid and had other seats arranged for him instead.
-
10 years ago, yes. They had a blowout sale through sounddomain and highdesertaudio on ebay (at the time it was RF's online outlet) about 5 years ago. Now they are for sale pretty frequently on the forums and ebay for reasonable prices.
-
Anyone ever purchased tickets from StubHub ? I realize they are a horribly overpriced scalping website, but from the reviews I've seen it doesn't really appear most people are actually "scammed" aside from paying 4x+ face value for the tickets. But for a sold out event, what else can you do ?

Almost everyone who posted on my BTL VS ZCON VS MAYHEM topic were vendors and people who work for SSA... All you need to do is read their profiles to see that... They are trying spread misinformation to protect their product and make it sound better then it is. I would post pictures of all profiles but that would take a while... Here are a few examples...LMAO....how did I miss this.....I work for SSA now ?? Why didn't anyone tell me ? Aaron where's my damn paycheck !!!

Don't know anything about your particular unit but if it's on it's way to you anyways...might as well hook it up and see if it leaves you satisfied.
-
What we can take away from that is you are just as biased for Skar as others are against him, so your opinion shouldn't count for anything either.

Pretty sure my girl at work has AT&T (they bought out centennial, correct?). She broke her phone and same issue, wasn't paying $600+ for the phone. She went and bought a Tracfone from Walmart for $50 and dropped her sim card in. Apparently AT&T owns Tracfone so the network and everything else works fine. So far no issues that I'm aware of, and it's been 9 months or so.
