One of the worst live "big name" band I've seen was probably Saliva. He can do the growling thing pretty decently....but when he tries to sing it's just absolutely horrendous. It'd have been more enjoyable and less painful to shove poison-laced toothpicks into my eardrums. Mars Volta (sp?) is was horrible live aswell. Jimi Hendrix wanna be motherpuckers. The tunes were decent I guess, but the lead singer was just freaking retarded acting on stage. And they didn't have any lyrics to their songs. The guy just stood on stage screaming one-syllable words. "Hey. Yeah. Hey. Yeah. Heeeyyyyyyy. Yeeeaaaahhh. Hey yeah. Yeah. Hey." Another bad one was a band called Nashville Pussy. Opened for Marilyn Manson. Worst music I'd ever heard in my life. However, the bassist and the guitarist were both chicks, and they started making out and feeling each other up at the end of the set. That was pretty cool.

I saw Evanescence live a couple years ago and thought they rocked. Amy Lee's voice was unbelievable at that show. Though, I was watching MTV or something a few weeks later and they were on there performing live for whatever reason....and she sounded like chit. I think it's kind of a hit or miss with them. Luckily when I saw them, it was a hit Oh.....and the fact that she looked abso-pucking-lutely hot didn't hurt things either. Me G/F was there with me and was like "So do you think she's hot??" My response "fudge yes!"

Well, thanks guys. You talked me into sticking with the Sync's. I'll let you know when I'm in acoustical bliss

Hmm....after posting this I realized that my topic description sounds like a pirate. But, anyways.....help me decide what to do with my stereo...LOL. I can't decide if I want go with an active 3-way DIY frontstage consisting of Coustic Design Reference & Vifa speakers, or go simple with a pair of Memphis Sync8's On the one hand, I really like the sound of my DR 7's when I was running them with my horns. But, likewise, the Sync8's are responsible for many World Championships in SQ comps, and I do really like the sound of audiolife's Sync 5.25's. Plus the installation and setup with the Sync's would be much easier and simpler and would allow me to use my external dual 31 band EQ for tuning, and it'd be killer to have a true point source comp set (and I can get an awesome deal on a set). But, the idea of a 3-way frontstage is really intriguing aswell as I've never had 3-ways in my car before, and I already have all the drivers so I wouldn't need to buy anything other than little stuff like more speaker wire. But the setup and tuning would be much more difficult and time & space consuming, and I'd be limited to 5 bands of parametric EQ on the tweet and 5 bands on the midrange/midbass. Basically boils down to; Active 3-way; more complicated setup & tuning, limited tuning and more space taken up but great sound and little to no additional money spent (just wires and whatnot). Sync's; much simpler install, more tuning capabilities, great sound aswell, but spending a little bit more money for them. On top of that.....if I went with the Sync's I was debating whether to sell all my amps (8 in total) and pick up a single RF Power T8004 and run a single amp (again, could get a pretty good deal on one) for a very simple yet excellent sounding setup. But, then it would totally eliminate the possibility of going active in the future since I'd be down to only 1 amp in my possession. So....overall, I really have no idea WTF I want to do about anything here....LOL Any thoughts?

I am such a freaking retard. Driving around all day yesterday thinking my sub was blown. Everytime it would hit hard, it'd make this horrible popping sound. So, I shut my subs off mid-morning and didn't turn them back on until I got back home from work. When I get home from work I did a little investigating and saw my amp was loose. So, I tightened it back down thinking it was just the amp rattling. On my way to Walmart later that night, and it's still making that damned popping noise. So I was thinking "Oh great, either the spider or surround came loose". Pulled into Walmart's parking lot to investigate some more........and then I realized that I had left the masking tape covering the 6x9 openings in my rear deck from when I was sound deadening this weekend. They were basically acting like passive radiators...haha. Pulled the tape off and all was well again However, I'm probably one of the few people in the world who have heard masking tape reproduce sound. And man....does it sound bad.....very "papery".

Still planning on sending around a unit for testing??

Actually, that's quite incorrect By switching the phase of the subs, you could theoretically (and in reality) move the subs perceived positioning by around 6 foot since phase adjustments work as sort of a psuedo-time alignment. If you are having problems with perceived "up front bass", switching the polarity of the sub could help integrate it with the rest of the system and bring the bass more "up front" as well as smooth out the sub to midbass integration. Really, as req said, about the only thing you can do is fiddle with it. It would really help you out, IMHO, if you listened to some good sound quality music with definite bass placement and integration and see which way works best.

Thought "sound deadening pics" sounded a little boring.....so, I'll name this project Kill Them All (referring to resonances, vibrations and sound waves). I'm corny. I know, and I don't care. Anyways; part one of my four part sound deadening endeavor is finally complete, with a good amount of assistance from Dave (audiolife). Shot of the rear seats (well, where they should be) and rear floor. Mat used here was SecondSkin Damplifier (thanks Nick!!). Two layers everywhere: Here's a shot of the front floorboard. Mat used here was Raammat 60 v2. Again, 2 layers everywhere. But, since I overlaped like crazy up here there is really more like 3 layers: And, that's where I'm at so far. There is also 1 layer on the rear deck, one layer throughout the entire trunk, and 2-3 layers on the outter doorskin of the front doors. Part II, which I'm hoping will be done by the end of this weekend will consist of spreading 5ga of SecondSkin Spectrum everywhere throughout the entire vehicle; top to bottom and front to back. Started working on that tonight, got most of the rear floor area done. Part III will be installing atleast 100sqft of Ensolite closed cell foam. Plan on 2-3 layers on the floor, 1.5 layers on the roof and 2 or so layers in each door. Part IV will be all 4 door panels, rear doors and various panels as needed. This is the first time I've really went all out on deadening and did the entire car as it should be. So, I'm pretty stoked, excited and dare I say....proud. Unfortuntely, however, none of those emotions can trump my primary trait; procrastination.....otherwise I'd probably by done by now My main goal here is to decrease road noise as absolutely much as possible, and to kill as much panel resonances as possible. So, more pics as more work gets accomplished. We'll see how the end result turns out

I've heard that he's working for SVS now??

Well, the other day my HDD took a crap on me. Here's the story; I was home trying to play some Yahoo! Pool (I'm addicted to it), and then my PC started doing this thing where everytime I tried to access the 'net (via either IE or Mozilla), it would automatically reboot my PC and/or freeze up. Well, I finally got tired of dicking with it one time when it froze up, so I went to shut it off at the power strip. Only, when I went to shut it off, my hand slipped and I shut it off/on/off really fast (turned it back on before it had completely powered down, then shut it off before it completely powered back up). And now when I try to use that harddrive, the PC will physically recognize it's there in the hardware list on the initial boot up screen, but is unable to read from or write to the drive (tells me something like "unable to locate drive C:, or unable to write to disk). So, my only thought is that with the quick power off/on/off, the arms inside the HDD got off track. That sound like a reasonable assumption? Any way to fix that myself, or atleast determine if that is/isn't the problem? I'm not looking to fix it permanently as I went out and bought another HDD to get my PC up and running again. Mainly just want it working long enough that I can transfer the pictures and a program or two to the new HDD. I'm really trying to avoid paying someone else to do it as 1) I'm cheap and don't want to pay them, and 2) there's personal info on it that I prefer someone else not have access to. Thanks!!

Hmmm.....yeah, I'll check that out tonight.
