Is it safe to make the blanket claim that with no speaker does aiming matter? Hmm....I dunno. After reading this I decided to go out and play around in my car some (since I have digital time alignment available in .1ms steps). Mids and tweets mounted in doors. I must say....the difference between 0 delay and 2.0ms delay, imaging and tonality wise, was huge. With 0 time delay the sound was diffused, no real center image to speak of at all, and you could clearly tell that you were sitting directly next to the speakers on the driver's side. With 2ms time delay the sound was much more coherent, tonality improved greatly as it didn't sound like a mumbled up mess, and the image was fairly well centered now. Tried this with both music and the 7 drum beat track. Experienced the same affects on both. And as you turned the knob to increase or decrease delay, you could clearly hear the image and diffusion (or coherentness) increase and decrease....almost like it was sliding along a scale. Psychoacoustics? I guess I can't write it off completely, since I have no way of doing an ABX test. Or maybe the deck's "2ms delay" isn't a true 2ms? I dunno.......

Don't even concern yourself with the THD figures. Any quality amp will have distortion that is within the inaudible range. You'll hear no difference between .05% and .002%, and you'll hear no difference between .9% and .002%.

Careful with those mids. One of mine started scrapping. I yanked both the mids today and tossed my Coustic DR's back in with the Next passives and tweets. I disassembled the mid that was scrapping and there was all kinds of chit up in the gap....... So, just be sure to use a very fine grill cloth with them, and keep them away from any metal shavings/etc that could get in the gap prior to installation (from like a workbench or what-have-you). PS: Whenever I get bored enough and get a camera, I plan on having the other mid meet it's demise with a 2hz sine wave @ [up to] 800w RMS

Maybe have a "guest section", where one week each month we have an industry "heavy hitter" come in and basically members can ask questions directly at this person. It wouldn't be bad. You'd only have to come up with 12 people a year. Big name competitors. People in the industry. Big name shop owners. Etc etc. Heavily moderated to curtail any BS in that section. I dunno....I'm just grabbing at thin air here......

I can get on that, and I can try to get others to post up. But how if someone posts the end all - be all of "how to crimp wire", then that doesnt create alot of discussion here. Hits, yes... traffic, no. Yeah...but the more people that "hit" the site, the more likely they'll see something else that peaks their interest.
