Well, it would be in the box pounding away right now if it wasn't freaking raining outside!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
LOL....no, I've had an Rl-p for about 9 months now
-
Which is why I'm glad I picked up the D2 version back when I got mine
-
Well, told my g/f, who told her mom. We'll see what comes of it.....
-
Was pretty fun though.....LOL. At one point I tried convincing the other kid that he was gay and just didn't know it yet
-
Okay guys.........My g/f's little sister (13 years old) came over here the other day and signed into Yahoo Messenger under her boyfriend's username, and for whatever reason set it so that at startup it logs us into yahoo messenger under her boyfriend's name. Now, today I'm sitting at my computer, and one of her boyfriend's little butt-buddies IM me. So, being the jakcalope that I am....I play along acting as if I am this Brandon kid. I tell this kid that I'm sitting here looking at porn on the 'net (not just regular porn..."granny" porn...LOL ), and HE brings up the fact that *I* (seeing as how he think's I'm this Brandon) has had "live porn" before, and in paranthesis after that sentence he puts in my g/f's sister's name. So, seeing as how the conversation was struck up, I figured I might as well play along and see just what all is going on. Now, apparently they've done more than simply kiss. It isn't wrong for me to tell my g/f, and let her decide whether or not to tell her mom, is it? I don't really like the little sister...at all (little freaking brat!), and think it would be pretty comical to get her in trouble. But I'd hate to be *that* kinda guy, if you know what I mean?

Seas G18RNX/P: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/shop/product...&products_id=32 - All the rage in the DIY community right now Seas CA18RNX: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...4.6470&pid=1043 Seas L18RNX/P: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...4.6470&pid=1037 Dayton RS: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=295-364 - Very highly regarded as a great mid. Not "for the price". But simply a great mid. Power hungry though. 75w is probably just barely enough to get it excited. These are the mids used in the infamous "Ology Audio" comp sets. Max Fidelity MF-170-75L/4 http://www.meniscusaudio.com/products/maxfidelity.cfm - Supposed to sound very, very similar to the Dynaudio mids. Be sure to get the High Qts version though for IB installs. Peerless HDS: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...04.6470&pid=871 - Great mid. Very highly regarded by most. Peerless Exclusive 7": http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...4.6470&pid=1949 - Look very, very interesting. Npdang did a review of the 4" I believe. Did very well.

The Rl-s, unfortunately, is not very practical for most people in-car it seems. Large enclosures, big power at high impedances, etc etc. The Rl-p will definitely give you good low bass. If output is a primary concern, ported would be the way to go with one. Sealed, they are no slouch either though. Give it a good ~800w RMS and you'll be happy.

Oh, I've got another one :D Add an input to the amp so that they can also be ran from a wall socket I'm not electronic enough to know if this is even feasible.........but if you could figure out a way to do it....think of the possibilities No more of those annoying "I want to put my car amp in my house, how do I do it" threads.......
-
And I want to see some "old school" cheater amps again. Something like the Orion 2100 HCCA: 100W X2 @ 4 OHM 200W X 2 @ 2 OHM 400W X 2 @ 1 OHM 800W x 2 @ 0.5 OHM 400W X 1 @ 4 OHM 800W X 1 @ 2 OHM 1600W X 1 @ 1 OHM .5ohm/channel stable....YUMMY!! Oh, that's one thing I forgot to mention. Make the 2 and 4 channel amps 1ohm/channel, 2ohm/bridged stable!!!
-
Pure gain blocks. No internal crossover/boost/etc. (a la Linear Power, Coustic DR, etc) Accept balanced inputs; either via dual RCA's or mini-Din connections. Independent gain controls for each channel. Unregulated PS. 200-400w x 2 @ 4ohm 200w x 4 @ 4ohm And a solid subwoofer amp.....whatever size doesn't matter. I'm not a bass head anymore Then a 25w x 2 @ 4ohm amp for those high efficiency users (horns, ribbons, etc). Maybe a nice 3-channel for comps and a sub.....200w x 2 @ 4ohm of A/B power, then 1000w x 1 @ 1ohm of class D power all in one chassis with separate inputs for the front and sub channels. Physical size? Something on the order of the Helix amps would be cool. Thin. Smaller sized. Able to put anywhere. Class A/B for comps, Class D for sub.....then make that baby amp a pure class A Who needs efficiency anyways?!? I'll try anything once Well, not anything....but you get the idea.

Awesome new logo Great to see you bring back the D2's aswell!
-
Congrats on the move guys! It would be great to see SS gain more exposure in the HA/HT world, especially with the release of the new Rl-s (which should be at my house in a few days :D )

Maybe I'm just getting old and bitter. Maybe I'm maturing. Or maybe it's just my depression talking. But I'm almost tired of car audio anymore. Everything is a hassle. Any setup I'd actually want to have in my car would require a major modifications and about two months of installation. Running wire is a pain in the ass. Sound deadening can kiss my ass. Cramming yourself into positions and spaces you never thought possible to install anything is getting old. And you do all this work just to shove some overpriced audio equipment into an acoustic hell hole that will sound worse than even a mediocre bookshelf setup. My god...what the hell have I been thinking the past 7 years I'm half tempted to ditch most of my car equipment and switch my focus on home audio. I don't spend nearly as much time in my car as I used to (like, went from hours/day to minutes/day). The setup is never freaking finished anyways....always a constant work in progress (read: constant headache). Home audio just seems so much...nicer. Acoustically better enviornment. No major modifications to anything. If you want to change the location of your speakers....just slide the damned things across the carpet to a new spot. Want to switch speakers? No door panel removal, etc etc. Pop off a grill, grab a screwdriver and your work is done. No spending hours cramped into a blazing hot vehicle in 100* heat, parked directly in sun light.....spend a majority of your time in my nice, air conditioned house. And the DIY selection is almost limitless. Having no space restrictions (within reason) would be a blessing for once. And the more I think about it....the more I talk myself into the idea of ditching car audio in pursuit of home audio/theater. But I know as soon as I make the "transition", the car audio bug will bite again and I'll kick my self in the ass.......so it seems almost not even worth it to try. And I surely don't have the funds to do them both. I don't know....I just felt like ranting and thinking out loud. Thanks for listening.

I may. We'll have to see. If nothing else I could pick up a Behringer EP2500 (2400w @ 4ohm) just for the review, then send it back to PE for full refund after I ship the sub off Only thing is I wouldn't be able to drive around with that amp...given it runs on 120V AC rather than 12V DC
-
I dunno....I think I'm going to make the transition. 7yrs+ of dabbling in car audio, time to try something new. See how long it takes me to get bored there. I think I have most of my HT setup planned.... Dayton 8" MTM for my front mains: http://www.objext.com/Dayton8.htm Dayton D3 for my rear surrounds and center (assuming they work well for a center): http://www.speakerbuilder.net/web_files/Pr.../D3/dayton3.htm Rl-p in a low tuned PR enclosure mated to a Behringer EP2500 (heh...nothing like having 2500w available ) Just need to find a good integrated receiver/amplifier. Use my 5-disc DVD player as my CD player aswell. I'll think I'm going to still keep a decent stereo in my car though. Probably still pick up those Memphis Sync8's. Nice low end extension, so I could get away without any subs (for the time being atleast....maybe throw some Rl-i 8's or Crystal CMP8's in my doors if I miss my subbass still). Probably keep the SS Rubi 702 and run those on the comps. Might switch back to my factory deck and sell the Eclipse....still haven't decided there. Sell everything else....and I mean everything.

SQueers? There's nothing wrong with enjoying high fidelity sound.......played at a level that will wake the neighbors a block away

Really depends on what you are after. LPG and Peerless are some of the best on the market in terms of price to performance. Really hard to beat. But, Seas and Morel are some of the best on the market. However, their gear is generally more expensive than the former aswell. If you are after great products on a budget, Peerless and LPG all the way. If you want upper end gear, Seas and Morel is the way to go.
-
Not really. Pick up a nice Nad receiver/amp for ~$300 and a pair of $200-$300 DIY towers. Add my Rl-p and a nice plate amp for the low end, and use my 5 disc DVD player as my CD player.......and overall I'd have approximately the same $$ into a pretty killer home audio/theater setup than I do into my half-assed sounds-like-chit car stereo. If you wanna go nuts and spend $7500/m on your speaker wire and snatch up a $300,000 dual monoblock amp....yeah, it'd be expensive. But on the whole, I'd say expensive wise it's pretty even.
-
Think I found my next home theater fronts: http://www.objext.com/Dayton8.htm For the cost of the parts, really a hard deal to beat even if they only sound half decent. Maybe toss my Rl-p into HT duty with them Nice sized ported box tuned loooowwwww

I give up........
-
Funny. I was just coming here to say the same thing....LOL

anybody got a gun I can borrow?
