Yeah, I saw those in the CA&E aswell. And Ryan's thoughts were exactly my own..."That is one crappy-ass site for such a potentially interesting driver". I too am very skeptikal. But would be very interested in listening to one.

Wondering if any of you bright young gents have any good suggestions on what to do for my daughter's science fair project. Mind you she's in first grade, so something like (and yes, this was my first thought) "The Compliance Effects of an Acoustic Suspension Enclosure On An Electrodynamic Transducer" just doesn't seem like it would fly.... So, got any suggestions? Looking for something some-what off the wall and unique, yet something a 7yr old could handle. And frankly, I want to make it interesting enough that even I am intrigued by the results. And it sort of has to follow the scientific method; I.E. the goal is to ask a question, form a hypothesis, create and demonstrate an experiement, come to a conclusion.

Spanks for some input guys. I'm going to flip through that all-science-fair webpage and geek out some of their other experiments aswell.

That's too bad. Those were some very interesting amplifiers.

You'd be surprised Behringer EP2500 will do 2400w @ 4ohm bridged and goes for $300 on partsexpress. QSC RMX2450 goes for around $600 new, but can be found used for $300-$400 and will also do 2400w @ 4ohm, and is a little higher quality and better designed than the Behringer unit.

900w isn't nearly enough for it. I had 800w on the demo Rl-s and, while it had "adequate" output if you were solely into sound quality and output was of absolutely no concern...yeah, 800w might work. But it wasn't nearly reaching it's potential. Off of that same power, my 12" Rl-p had noticeably more output. 1500w - 2kw is really more of a lower-limit in necessary power.

PE > Me Gave in and bought a pair of the Dayton 15" DVC subwoofers that are on sale........ Denim, hope everything with Amanda works out alright. Pregnancy is always kind of a scary time for that exact reason....so many sicknesses out there that can make the woman & baby sick, but they can't take many of the meds because of the pregnancy.

Well, I just placed a $100 order with PE.......and all I ordered was cables

http://adireaudio.com/Home/TheMuse.htm Look very interesting. I will never have $6k to blow on them....but interesting none-the-less.

I'm no expert here....but this is my take on it; It has a lot to do with how the amp was designed to make it's power; high voltage (into a high impedance) or high current (into a low impedance) Take two amps; one makes 1000w @ 1ohm, the other makes 1000w @ 4ohm. sqrt(1000*1) = 31.6V 1000/22.3 = 31.6A So, the 1000w amp at 1ohm needs to make 31.6V, and 31.6A. sqrt(1000*4) = 63.2V 1000/63.2 = 15.8A The 1000w @ 4ohm amp needs 63.2V, but only 15.8A of current. Since toroids are (IIRC) used to ramp up the voltage, you could see that even though they make the same power, and could even be the same class, they would use two totally different toroid sizes since amp B needs twice as much voltage.

PG Xenon amplifer future?
Impious replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I know PG has a new line-up coming out....the Radial series: http://phoenixgold.com/2004/rsdamps.html (super butt ugly, eh?) But AFAIK that series isn't replacing the Xenon series. -
Though I'm not much into SPL, I'd say Scott Owens being the first to break 180db legal in competition.

LOL......WOAH! I was a little worried about where that sentence was heading. Glad to see that last word wasn't what I thought it would be How's that DX-28 treatin' ya?

It's better than that Pioneer stuff your brother had

Well....I'm not really sure, to be honest. I truly want this subwoofer built. But, we are well below our order quantity....and some new, interesting information has come to my attention that makes me want to hold off on actually setting this in motion for ~ 1 month.
