Well, my wedding is on 7/7/07 Tool is going to be about 2hrs away in Michigan on 7/5/07 and about 7hrs away on 7/9/07 What do you think my chances are that I could talk them into coming to play at my reception pro bono since they'll be in the relative area ?? It would only be a 4hr detour on their way from MI to Canada.

Do you absolutely need a receiver? Could you live without a tuner? Part of your problem is looking at stuff that's sold in Best Buy, you're not going to find deals that way, on BPC (Black Plastic Crap) <-------- But yeah, it does need a tuner. All of my CD's reside in my vehicle...so most of the time when we're listening to music in the house it's the radio. I'm not looking for audiophile quality home audio....just something to breath a little life into movies and better quality audio than what I have now (10yr old Magnavox bookshelf system). Looking at the Pioneer VSX-816. Good internal power @ 100wpc, full preamp outputs should I get a hair up my butt and want to up the ante to external amplificators, has all of the AV I/O that I need and it's under $300 even at retail.

Anybody know where to get HT receivers/etc for on teh cheap other than egay ? So far every site I've found has been asking as much or more for the receiver I am looking at than what I could walk into Best Buy and get it for new w/ warranty. Where are all of the HT whore websites like we have for car audio ?

Well I need to find some screws and I'm not having any luck. They are allen head machine-type screws for the chassis of an amplifier. I've searched high and low locally....from big box stores to mom-&-pop hardware stores to RC Hobby shops. Everything I've found is either too large or doesn't have the right thread pattern. Anybody have an idea of a good store or website to look on to find somewhat obscure screws ?

I think .5" might be a little too long though. But seems to be the same general type of screw that I need.

Coustic Design Reference. Stupid thing is about 2 months ago I sold some blown DR's I had....if I was smart I would have pulled the screws from one of those amps before I sold them Also thanks for helping kbkid....let me know what you find.

Well....I handed Fastenal the screw that I need more of and they basically laughed and said "good luck with that"....... The head looks essentially like this; (only it's gloss black) The guy at Fastenal said it's a #4 screw. It's about 1/4" to 5/16" long. It appears to be self-tapping (but not self-drilling/piercing, it's flat on the end) The problem is the threads....it's extremely course. Apparently having this course of thread on such a small screw is pretty "rare". Can't take a good pic....but looking at it from the side it only has 5 "peaks" down it's entire length.

Good call! I work in Kendalltucky so I'll just swing by there on my way in. If that doesn't work I'll try some of the other places you guys have recommended. Thanks !
-
Their "screw" category doesn't have anything close to what I need.....
-
Well, if my measurements are correct the threads are 3/16" in diameter with a pitch of .0625"

I'm about half way thru The God Delusion. Been thinking about getting another one of his books when I'm finished.

Sounds like you need to read Stephen Hawkins A Brief History of Time. Has one chapter dedicated to the discussion of time and another dedicated to the discussion of wormholes and time travel.

How funny would it be to be randomly looking at a website and see your wife's scantily clad photo in one of those adult friendfinder ads....

SQ for subs
Impious replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Any amp worth owning will be capable of operating in the range of inaudible distortion. -
The formula Neil was talking about; Fc = Re/(2pi*Le) But I agree....tell your friend that he needs better mids if he is planning to rely upon the subwoofer to cover up to 80-100hz.

DB Drag World Finals Annoucement
Impious replied to KickinAudio's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
:word: I think it'll take away from the "feel" of being at and competing in World Finals. :word: I know a lot of competitors sandbag and only push their equipment hard enough to win the round. How is the information going to displayed/relayed between the different locations? -
Nope. I was looking something up on Wikipedia about the fourth dimension and found the animation and thought it looked cool And thanks Steve

Spanks guys I'll expect the presents to start showing up on my doorstep here in the next 3-4 days Did you have this avatar before Neil ?

I may have been sleeping, but I don't recall seeing them before. http://rcamobile.com/ Appears RCA has come out with a line of 12V mobile products. I'm kind of intrigued. Their other products are geared more towards the affordable end of the price spectrum and are of reasonable build quality. If these follow suit, I would expect atleast the electronics to be a decent alternative for the budget minded individual.
-
Can't be all too difficult. There's a wholesaler about an hour from me that carries them. http://www.twhouse.com/ Fusion is all over the place here since TWH is so close. All of the budget dealers in the area just purchase most of their inventory from TWH. And I actually just noticed that they supposedly carry RCA Mobile aswell....LOL So Denim if you were interested in them, you could always just get ahold of TWH.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one interested !
