If I'm seeing what I think..... that design=bad idea...... two round ports on top and 4 slot ports in front with one square port in the rear??? is that what your box builder is suggesting....? **Looks like they may not have a clue.... or.....????
-
thummper I hope you have plenty of batts for those amps.. they are some power hungry beast..
-
Just strap them...... don't really understand your concern... You have the same power either way... two 1500's at 1 ohm is 3k and 2 strapped 1500's is 3 k at 2 ohm... same result either way.... ?

cool, thanks...now ill just have the people who are making my box carve the same size rectangle on the back of my sub box making it Parallel to the arm rest, and cutting taht part of the seat out don't cut an extra hole in the box if that's what you were implying by that post. The open armrest just promotes the flow into the interior... in this case not gonna make a huge difference

My New Amp For Testing
rushnrun replied to rushnrun's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
forgot .8 ohm @25 hz ohms rise from there.. roughly .8 - 1 ohm from 25 to 40hz 1.5 ohm @45hz 2.7 ohm @50hz 3.2 ohm @55hz 1.9ohm @60hz so basically capable of 2700watts at two ohm... with a better power supply the rest of the readings should/could be much higher... -
My New Amp For Testing
rushnrun replied to rushnrun's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
here's my last set of numbers for this amp: swapped batts to a set that floats @ 12.3volt both test were done with a cheap clarion cd player with a .8volt output. On Both test the amp clipped out on low voltage from 25-55 hz.. 60 hz was the only freq that didn't clip. first run the subsonic filter was set 20hz, run two it was set at 50 hz (the subsonic is not defeatable) run 1 run 2 25hz 2520 30hz 2860 35hz 2209 35hz 2736 40hz 2408 40hz 2562 45hz 2356 45hz 2376 50hz 2208 50hz 2130 55hz 1960 55hz 1716 60hz 2666 60hz 2709 again, higher voltages show much better results -
hmmmm... maybe I need the AVIC-F90BT for the GTI..... Free wiring harness too right?
-
my buddies shop stopped carrying treo because of the terrible customer service. Good woofers though. :/
-
x2 looks like one side of your port is the "passenger" side of your box but the cutout doesn't make it over there.... even looks like that in the video...
-
what's up with your port? looks like you don't have the opening cut as big as the port?...
-
I believe with adaptors you can run 5.25" speakers in the front... the 4x6 plate components give very little output but some sound ok.. I liked my boston pro's and the infinity's I had weren't bad either. I think you should be able to find an adaptor plate online to mount the 5.25's (or just make one).. a single 12 and 500-1000 watts should be plenty in that car.
-
^^^ Don't use them as firewood in your fireplace.... Wow that makes a hot fire... Lookin' good so far...
-
X2... that's a nightmare in there...

ma802sx vs saz-3000d
rushnrun replied to gtaforever00's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My 802SX did fine other than it shut down just from turning the gain up...(it'd reach like 3/4 gain and go into protect with no load present.) I never tested the power output but it didn't come close to the strapped pair of soundstream EGA1700d's that I ran during that same time period. * I just tested out clif's big amp and was fairly impressed... *you'll have to talk to the sundown fella's on that amp.. I've haven't been lucky enough to play with a 3000d yet. -
^^^^ I do need to point out that my solo X 10's were in a small box with a Low tuning... roughly 2.25 each @30 hz.... I've only heard fi woofers once... not shure what they were.. the guy that had them was over-driving them something fierce. I'd like to hear some that are set up right and not an over-driven SPL attempt...

^^^^^ All my personal stuff I just free hand in the garage so I make plenty of mistakes.. I only make plans if it's: A. going to be semi-permanent B. someone else's car so you can imagine the stupid little mistakes like cutting the angle the wrong direction on the edge of the board.. ect.... **I swap stuff every couple of weeks or so.. so nothing is ever really permanent BTW.. I love playing with fiberglass....
-
I'd rather glass than cut angle's..... Looks like fun.... hope you don't have my temper when it come to fudgin' up a piece and having to recut...

Well I gotta interupt the kicker bashin'... My solo X 10 took 5k+ daily (2 zx2500.1's running at 1 ohm) for music... not bad for a single 10 doing 149's sealed on the dash t/l in a mid-sized 4-door car also my pair of x's did just fine off the 5k as well....and I beat the heck outta um... as for the 18's.... way to heavy/huge for my application... that's why they're for sale anyhow, Just sayin' No sense in bashing some other company over what one person spouts outta their mouth that offens you All woofers have their pros and cons.... Personally I've never had a single issue with my solo x's, L7's or L5's for that matter... then again I've heard some horror stories..... I believe the same can be said about almost any company **Again not bashing anybody... I've been waiting for a steal on a fi woofer so I can test them out..

make sure you put that batt on/in something, otherwise any acid that escapes will be eating up your carpet.
-
The other fuse acts just as the front would. if there's a short in the center of the car it stops the current from the back battery.. I.E. Front Batt__Fuse ________*short*___________fuse__Rear Batt__fuse__Amp if you don't fuse the rear batt in that manner a short can potentially burn up your auto. in the case of a center short ast illustrated both front and rear fuses will blow and save you from burning something up. I know it seems redundant but better safe than sorry...

I ran the old style DMX 15 for a while... (old style being 2002ish) I swapped in several different 15's and ALL out-preformed, Concept CPT-15, MA Audio SYnergY 15, MA Audio 15XL..... ect..ect.. I've yet to run a nightshade but... with my experience with the DMX I'd say the Nightshade should put it down easily. Not that the DMX is a bad woofer... Just wasn't for me. I paid 650 for the dmx and sold it for 150 shortly after just to get rid of that paper-weight. *on a side note the DMX didn't do bad on low power apps but when you added some Juice the other woofers really put it to shame And not to totally bash the DMX: The dmx did well in a 4.5 cube @ 35hz in my Box-S-10 Blazer. 147's sealed on the dash off 1800 watts the other woofers were louder...

Just clean up the inside of the doors-use a mild de-greaser on the sheet metal, wash and let dry then apply the mat.. I put one layer of my on my 05 then covered it in Cascade Spray on liner. The difference in mid-bass was very noticable and the reduction in road noise as well. The transmission hump could use a few layer's if your's is anything like mine was. I had terrible road noise down the center of the car.. I removed everything and deadened the whole car. My 6-S-hatch had a handy blank that unbolted that was the perfect size for 00. I unbolted the piece drilled it out and rebolted.. it was directly behind the strut tower on the drivers side. **If you're needing the dash install piece and wiring harness I have mine outta my 05, I just traded off the car 3-weeks ago so I've got a few left-overs from it. the dash piece has a light scratch from my carless removal...

My New Amp For Testing
rushnrun replied to rushnrun's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm going to redo the .8 ohm test today as well as redo the 2 ohm to see if I get remotely the same results... I like to test several times.. human error can play a big roll with these numbers.. however if I get roughly same number 10 times it's probably correct... Or I keep making the same mistake * the 5k number seems unrealistic to me, being I was only able to get 4.5k on the test right after... and quickly diminished to only 3k after just a few 5-10 second "burps"... I need a bigger battery bank -
My New Amp For Testing
rushnrun replied to rushnrun's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well after a full night of charging and a tested 13.3 volts resting (my work batts float there) I went to test today. the first run wasn't impressive 2800 watts at .8 ohm 25 hz then I got to checking and noticed that I had the master volume set at a quarte on the computer (i'm using my lap top to play the tones... on the headphone jack..) anyhow, turned up the master and tested again: 98 amps and 52 volts was the readings..... at 30 hz...... 5096 watts maybe this thing can put out some juice after all... After that test I was only able to test into the mid 4k's 4500-4650... and promptly only able to get 2800-3200 after the batts were tired.... So if you've got the power supply this thing just might be the beast... -
My New Amp For Testing
rushnrun replied to rushnrun's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well I'm done for the night... unfused: roughly 11.8volts input 25 hz roughly .8 ohm 2950 then I swapped to 2 ohm and test again... 11.8ish volts 25 hz 2 ohm 1490 watts... think my batts are done for the night... the best output was 3800 at 1 ohm but keep in mind that was on fresh batts (and a very unhappy woofer) **on a side note I did test 25 30 35 and 45 hz... 25-35 all were roughly the same output 2880 at the lowest, 45 hz cause the amp to shut down on low voltage at roughly 2600 I may test more tomorrow... Other than that the amp is now for sale... pm me if interested... Make a reasonable offer and it's yours... ***edit I kept typing .5 ohm when infact with the rise I was looking at more like .8 ohm so I changed it
