    Questions on double baffle

and with that being said... .75 extra length will make a bigger change than the slight increase of air space not displaced by the .75 length of port. looking at about: .5 hz change in tuning for adding length and .05hz for removing length-from the inside and adding to baffle/increasing net volume.

    Questions on double baffle

Not enough to make a difference... it doesn't have to be that exact... it'll tune the box like .002hz lower.... (not an exact just a for instance) not noticeable...

    Questions on double baffle

just shave .75" off the port length and make the 2nd baffel identical to the first

    Big Boy/Monster/Nightmare sub updates?

Haha... good luck with it if I decided to build you one. I'll start beggin as soon as I get my junk 10 close to 50
  5. FEDEX has done that to me before... Ordered a woofer that was shipped out in a wooden crate/cardboard.. received the woofer in a tripple layered cardboard box filled with packing peanuts, no invoice, the label was cut off the other box and re-taped onto the new box.... the woofer had the magnet broke clean off the basket.... it was a B!@#$ to get taken care of... took like 45 days to get my money back.... All shipping companies have similiar issues... I could go on all day about shipping issues... 1 in 5 things I receive is damaged by the shipping company (and I get shipped ALOT of stuff)

    Moving on

Missed the high notes....... that's the issue? tune the box higher then..... or turn off your low pass filter...... being that it's a kicker mono amp the max on the low pass is set at 250hz (i believe) How high of a note are you talkin...?

    Recommendations

Not to be an @ss but why are you looking for suggestions again???? you didn't listen to ANYONE the first time... The amp you have is OK (not something I'd choose but ok), the box you have is a cheap prefab, the woofer is sub-par at best.. look into something like a fi SSD or a Q, some SSA DCONS, get thumpper or fisher to build you a box, use your existing amp and enjoy something quite a bit nicer that what you have now. If the woofers and box cost a little more just Save up your pennies and buy a better amp down the road.... If you never wait and save to get something decent you'll always have sub-par equipment..

    JL audio W1v2

a video is not a review.... Honestly by all your posting, you don't know enough about car audio to give a review.. Take some time, learn a few things then do a review... You're trying to review a bottom of the barrel subwoofer in a prefab box running off an OK amp all of it has been thrown into the back of a quadcab truck.. You're posting a video that just proves it doesn't have enough output to do any sort of vehicle flex (the stock 6x8 can rattle the truck just the same)... Take some time and think before you post random stuff that you'll just catch flack for later.

That didn't take you long to want an upgrade.. What amp are you using? how much room are you giving up?

Quickie question, hopefully an easy one

Anyhow, I'm VERY familiar with the H2 woofers (I build boxes for them all the time--it's the best woofer that the local shop sells) have you seen very many problems with tinsel slap or anything else that could be making a popping noise? i really dont think i have been over-exerting the sub, especially it started immediately after i took it out of the box to wrap the box in vinyl. put it back in on the same amp and everything, then all of a sudden, loud nasty noise From what I've seen almost all of them developed some sort of slapping/popping sound (some worse than others).. I've never really taken the time to look into the cause, I always thought it was the dust cap coming loose. I've seen two in a common chamber sealed box where one started it then a month later the other.. so I dunno... *I'd like to point out that most of the time the woofers were making that sound when the guys had me building their box... Normally their pre-fab box fell apart so they came to me for a "real" box. **it's worth pointing out that I don't see those woofers anymore since the HCCA came back out... I did my last box for them about 2 years ago--it was an old set that some kid had on a massive 3000d.

Quickie question, hopefully an easy one

I assume someone decided it's a safe medium and it's just been adopted by forum users. I don't know where this came from/originated. however from my time in car audio I've found that most noobs don't even know how to find square inches.... nor do they understand ohms, the term displacement, or much of anything for that matter. that's why they look to forums for answers and quite often are set in the wrong direction by others that just don't know... I've had several people complain to me about "under/over-powering" because what they've read on a forum.. I had a kid swear that I caused him to blow his woofers because I sold him an amp that put out less power than the RMS rating of the woofers (it was a zx750.1 amp for 2 L7 10's) He then bought a bigger amp, got the subs replaced and blew them again... I didn't hear from him again... ** when designing a box it helps to have a good grasp on algebra and geometry, then it's real handy to understand the physics behind all of it.. Experience through trial and error can be one of the best learning tools.. (however not very cost effective)

    Fi BL VS Nightshade poll

wow a bunch of people posted while I was typing...

    Fi BL VS Nightshade poll

I have nightshades Not real fond of them for any daily use--they're OK but...(they just don't get low enough... I normally run some sort of "Sound Q" woofer for daily so not fair for me to compare)... **I only ran the NS for a few days for a "daily" feel... didn't really have it in long enough to be fair. I havn't heard the BL's.. It all depends on what you're looking for.. I cannot give you a comparison just my thoughts on the one.... BTW When I purchased the Nightshade I didn't expect to like the sound of it... For me they're just for SPL use for the time being.. It was kind of a get loud quick approach... I've seen several guys jump in db just from swapping to these woofers.. So I figured what the heck (I'll use the Shades until I find/purchase a 10" sub that can do what I need 150+ stock at the head ).... I believe BigJon has had both he could give you a fair comparison...

Quickie question, hopefully an easy one

X2... I would assume that the 14sq in per cube was recommended once somewhere so everyone just jumped on and used it.. I've used it in forums just to keep from an argument (IMO it's not a terrible recommendation). However it's not something that I go by. Anyhow, I'm VERY familiar with the H2 woofers (I build boxes for them all the time--it's the best woofer that the local shop sells) From what I've seen about 1.5-2.5 cubes tuned 30-32hz works well running 2 4" areos or roughly 30in^2 of slot port works well.. (I almost always use a slot port) (I feel that the 1.5 cube is actually a little on the small side for this woofer... but I've always been a fan of a bigger box) **granted with that small of a box and that much port you have to side fire the areo's in a wide box, the slot port works better being it's easier to get the length by making a 90 and going across the back of the box So after all that... I'd suggest trying to go to 2-2.5 cubic feet (after displacement) and run a slot port w/somewhere in the ball park of 30in^2 surface area

    D*** FUSE!

The fuse is for under the hood.... It's to protect your ride.... Fuse should be as close to the battery as possible 8-18inches... (where ever a safe mounting location is) The fuse under the seat won't help anything...unless you have rear batts... but then you still need one under the hood.. Use some solder or use visegrips to crimp that terminal on better..
  20. ** Your wire needs to be the proper gauge/length to support certain fuse ratings... If not properly fused the wire can melt before the fuse blows charts can be found on line for gauge requirements for any given load/length of wire.

    1996 Explorer Heater core Removal?

well d@mn... about an hour after I posted that she called and said she doesn't see any future with me.. apparently I spend too much time w/car/stereos Shoulda saw that coming... guess she was mad.. I assumed she was playing....

    Impounded

I picked up two eclipse titanium 12's, 1"mdf sealed box, soundstream 10.0A (or something like that) all for 100 from the tow guy here in town.. At the time I didn't realize what it was worth.. I sold that amp for $25 turns out on ebay it sells for 500+ the woofers I sold dirt cheap as well... I've kicked myself ever since... I bought the stuff when I was 15 and didn't have a car or any clue of what the "good" stuff was

    1996 Explorer Heater core Removal?

**Notice the "for sale" by the two vehicles.... Also notice I chose the two that are least likly to sell And She's not my wife... (she's not even living in my home)I've got some serious commitment issues... please refer to list of stereo projects that have been altered and not finished **seriously though she's gotta finish up her degree before she's settling down... This last civic was kinda the "last straw" with her though... She's finally on the "why do you have 5 cars when you can only drive one... I get the truck and a car but what the hell?" In her defense I do have two 2 good gas milage cars, 2 4 wheel drives and one "sports car".... she only suggest the reduction of one 4x4 and one economy car. so I keep a toy, a winter car and my car to drive to work.. that's my defense...

    1996 Explorer Heater core Removal?

on the positive note at lunch today my boss opened up my truck and set in a present.... an Odyssey PC2150S Battery it's a $300+ batt.. he said I might as well have it before someone steals it off the shelf Our business has been real slow and the workers are pretty know for "losing" things... they steal the batts and sell them... You'd be amazed at the number of batts we "lose" in one month
