ahh swapped out amps... Looks Like I'll be there with the SAZ3000D and two Clif Designs CD1200C's.... I'm only getting about 1000watts on my fusing but should be competitive in the class.... 6ohm btw gonna book the hotel tonight..
-
working on making it there... running 370watts & a pair of 12's in S1 MECA It's louder than you think
-
sounds like outta phase to me.... reverse the wires on one sub....... to check
-
still don't understand people that put stuff infront of the port...... what the heck does that prove..... I'll utube a plastic sack infront of a fan if moving an empty sack is impressive
-
don't mind the mess either... its just rigged up good enough to work.. not to be left in.. It's getting pulled out tomorrow or sunday.. ***put it in yesterday
-
it's just a junk test box.. not by any means something I'm proud of.. tuned 32... the box is actually a Test SPL fart box that I"ve just shut down some port to tune lower... I'll get some flex vids tomorrow .. it does a pretty good number on the lil car

How About a Side by Side by Side by Side by Side Comparison?

UPDATED.... I cleaned up the results and calculated the ohms.... When I made the orginal post I failed to mention that the swiss was tested with a Visonik 10 in a different box-I was only really concerned about the big amps anyway Here's the exact numbers... (well as exact as I could get... the visonik ohm is probably lower do to the heated coils from repeated burps trying to get it to hold longer) All Big amps were tested using the Single Nightshade 1.2ohm resting roughly 2ohm with rise---I've provided calculated ohms to be a little more exact.. Test frequency was 60hz Amp______________Power Produced_Consumed_____WattsProduced_Watts Consumed_Eff_____~OHM Swiss SDX1000A____45.2v 13.1A____ 13.10v 57.5A__ 592__________753____________78.6% _3.45 Visonik 4000XD_____45.0v 20.2A____ 12.95v 74.2A__ 909__________961____________94.6%__2.23 Sundown SAZ3000D_77.0v 31.0A____ 13.10v 219.5A_ 2387_________2875___________83%____2.48 Massive P-3000D____91.0v 37.8A____ 12.00v 360.0A_3440_________4320___________79.6%___2.41 And the sundown wired down to lower ohms... .8 resting Sundown SAZ3000D_72.0v 48.0A____ 12.40v 378.0A_3456_________4687___________73.7%____1.5 Massive and Visonik are 2-ohm rated amps... The other two are rated at 1-ohm Tested with the car off 2A 12v power supply connected.... * The visonik kept clipping out... (low input voltage...?) ** The massive clipped on full burps-low voltage.. my batts were getting tired by then. (low input voltage) ***I'll be testing the visonik again to get better numbers... I've added another batt and raised the ohm load so hopefully I can get some good numbers on it. -
wow that's a huge box and a ton of port for daily... looks like over excursion/abuse

SECOND chance and I still lost darn.... 3rd winner rushnrun!! -
x2 for the most part.. Every time I take a box apart and wood breaks first... other than a few poor glue joints, normally a joint that I over-used glue... MDF and particle board absorb the glue to a certain extent this absorption is what makes a good sturdy joint.. **IMO liquid nails is a horrible choice... it is flexible an not easily "absorbed" by the wood (I don't think it absorbs at all).. Just use a good quality wood glue and brace properly.. I personally always use screws or at least brad nails... I don't have the desire/time (or clamps) to properly build a screw less box.. but it could be done on a small scale. **I carpet or bondo screwheads and paint..
-
*** it'd be louder if your box didn't "choke" the airflow of the port at the hatch.. (I'm assuming it almost touches the hatch all the way across... Looks like it would..)

Woofers have nothing to do with where your car peaks at.... it's the car that determines it... It should peak around 48-50hz in that vehicle..

decent amp, power hungry as all get out... Puts out a decent amount of power.. I owned this one before I tested power output so I'm not real sure on what they can do... I think I paid 600 for my amp, ran it a whole season.. did well.. **I hated the wiring hook-ups.... you have to unmount the amp to access any of the wiring... meaning you also have to have it fully wired up before mounting... Just a pain when you use terminal cup-less boxes.---the wiring pain is why I sold mine, it was very annoying.. Other than that I liked the amp... I swapped mine for two soundstream rub1000.2's back in the day... the pair of 1000.2's outperformed the amp when hooked to the same woofers/box (I gained 1-1.5db from the amp switch) -
**Behringer is over-rated as others have pointed out.. Good value for the money though. I had a couple of 2500's... I never tested them but my peavy xr8600 powerd box mixer and it seemed to put out more power... the responce was better the bass was tighter(and didn't have the hiss that the behringer had)... It is a decent budget amp (they worked well for me).. **the peavy was only rated at 1200watts ***also the peavy amps are also out of your price range. you'd be looking at 600ish to touch the same power output of the behringer which makes the behringer a good value Crown is a good brand.... You can pic up their 1400 watter for $500 xti-1000 from Parts express... you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere...

If your trunk is totally sealed from the cabin of the car everything is pretty much gonna rattle how it is.. Your best bet would be deaden the heck out of the rear deck, put a gasket between the speakers and the deck.

yeah that beats the heck outta my 82 plymoth horizon hb that I had to drive... my parents "made" me by it.. they found it paid for it then I paid for it by working at hy-vee.... it did start my love for hb's though... Nice ride

Perfect amp for 15" SSD
rushnrun replied to ADK's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
check my F/S listing.. I'm sure you'll find something you'd like I wouldn't worry about having a ton of power for that woofer.. try the amp you have first and go from there -

they can do 1 ohm... it's just not recommended by kicker... I didn't have any issue's with my zx2500.. I ran two dual 1 ohm solo x 10's on it wired to 1 ohm... the amp puts out a little more power at one ohm.. not a ton more but a little... like a 10-15%% increase is all I ever saw... with loss of efficiency. As long as you know what you're doing you can do it... good wiring/power is the start of a good system -
odyssey battery
rushnrun replied to calvin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The battery has plenty of cca to be a starting battery (1150cca) and more reserve capacity than a kinetic HC1400 (the pc2150 is 90AH and the kinetic hc1400 is 60AH--atleast I'm pretty sure that's what it is) The PC2150 is a group 31 batt and Is gonna be pretty hard to fit into most stock battery locations. ***Just so you know, Basically... High CCA (instant power) is better for SPL apps, High AH (reserve) is required for Street beating ****I was able to run my ZX2500 daily @ 1 ohm on one of these batts + the stock batt and stock alt... I had no issues... Granted I don't run it full tilt all the time--I pretty much crank it for half a song then turn it back down.. 150+db's hard on the ears -
anybody know what wrong?

The frame is the best... but even just the trunk floor is 20 times better than where it's grounded now.. -

rushnrun replied to snowbikeboy12's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
hinge of trunk=ground=problem.... bad idea from the get go... sounds like a loose connection somewhere though.. has to be loose power, ground, or remote line for the amp to just shut off with no lights -
