I'm between the two HU
RajunCajun replied to Bigmike's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well in all seriousness you really can't go wrong with either. They are both very similar. I personally have used both. I like the menu setup on the Pioneer more than Alpine, but the Alpine seems to have a bit better EQ / Time alignment. There are pros and cons to both, but basically what it comes down between these two units is personal prefence. Search this forum and numerous others; you'll find many topics comparing these two. now for my vote: ALPINE FTW!!!! -
@fuzzyping My amps were listed eD Nine.5 & Nine.4. I know its eD, but they were free I can't complain too much. Most probably upgrade them later to sundown amps. @sick6ness Sadly no. I will have to fabicate kick panels. Though there is a nice opening behind the factory kick that vents down and to the outside. I may do a little modification to the factory kicks.

I've driven around my 2006 altima about six months now listening to the factory BOSE system. While it is nice, I felt it somewhat lacking. Thus I began my search. I've come to decide that I would like to build an SQ oriented daily driver from scratch with my only contraint being time. I'll have to tackle this in the few hours I have after work in the evenings. Enough of my life story, on to the build. Source Alpine IVA-W200 with video bypass, bluetooth interface, and IPOD adapter. (Shipping) Alpine PXA-H701 (Planned) eD Nine.5 & Nine.4 - can't complain much, they were free BNIB from my brother-in-law. Front Stage Second Skin Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner (Planned) Mach5 MLi-65 (Shipping) MB Quart QSD 210 - 4" Component Set Rear fill (this is a passenger/family vehicle) MB Quart QSD 213 - 5.25" Component Set Sub 10" SSA Icon in optimum ported box built by Fisher Customs. (Planned) Big3 All Knu Koncepts wiring and fuses I'll post pics as soon as I start the deadening / Big 3. This should be an exciting / fun learning expereince.

@Matt Yeah I'm a Louisiana boy. Thanks for the offer, but I'm a new and shiny person. I buy very little used goods. Its not that its used its just that I like to know that I'm the only owner of it. @Kharps I'll give sealed a shot, worst thing that happens is I order another box. If I run a pair of 10s they'll probably only pull maybe 300 wrms each. Whats the minimum to get these guys going

Mainly a mixture of rock, metal, punk, techno, maybe some rap here and there. I know since my main taste steer toward rock more than anything else sub bass isn't really as big an issue as the mid bass range. After I posted my last reply I realized that I have more room than I thought, because im removing the factory Bose 6x9 from the rear deck. With that done I'll be able to slide the box farther back into the trunk.

After a little consideration, a 12" Icon in the standard Fisher Customs box is a little bit bigger in terms of space that im willing to give up. Was thinking about a 10" in the FC combo box. What are your thoughts on it in terms of output and clarity with that box? Forgot to mention I'm doing a total install and taking out all the factory Bose equipment.

I picked up a pair of Mach5 MLIs, gonna give a 3 way a shot. Once I get a little bit more cash gonna try to get Fisher Customs to fix me up with a 12 Icon and box.

Powering it with a eD Nine.5 I have laying around. Front stage will most likely be the MB Quart QSD 4" components I have in the closet ive never used. Maybe now would be a good time to look into an active 3 way front stage... just need another amp for mid bass. Decisions, decisions.

At the moment I'm in the market for a new sub. I've narrowed it down to the ICON or a SSD. I read a really nice review on the ICON on DIYMA that fell into my power range. Now on to my question. With stated power which would be a better choice ICON or SSD+copper coil? Box is dependent upon driver selection.
