Of all the boxes I've seen glassed ( and I've seen a few ) I've never seen one crack or break because of resin and I'm not talking about 1200 watt systems. LOL And then they wouldn't have cracked or broke without the resin either. I never said that when you resin MDF that the box will break automatically, just that resin does not add strength but reduces it. that's i guess the question i'm getting at. aren't there better ways to increase the rigidity of mdf, or stiffer materials that can be used in place of mdf?
-
if the overall goal is more rigidity why not use a stronger material to begin with? i don't see the point of buying mdf and then wasting time adding resin to make it stiffer, when it appears to me the end result would to make the mdf more prone to fracturing. i'm guessing with resin you get a harder surface that is structurally weaker than the original sheet of mdf, i'm not saying it's going to shatter dramatically like glass but it's possible you could get hairline fractures that would grow like cracks on a windshield.

I'm betting it is a firing pin block setup, so when it drops the hammer there is a block over the firing pin so it strikes the block instead. Its the way my Firestorm .380 is set up. And when you racked the slide, are you sure the slide went back fully closed? On that stye of setup it won't decock until the slide is fully closed, now if this occurs and you flip the safety off, it will close the slide completely, and if you go to reengage the decocker, it will decock. The slide only has to be a little bit back, (1/8" would do it) for it not to decock when racking the slide with the safety on. Something easy to do on a new non broken in gun and being easy on it. that's exactly what was happening, the slide was hanging up 2mm from coming all the way forward and leaving the hammer cocked. for some reason it allowed the trigger to catch when you pulled it and it sure felt like a dry fire not a decock. imho i'd rather have no safety than a defective one, even if we were trying to make it malfunction, there's no excuse for that. my ffl said he's going to take both the 944's and a 90 that was doing the same thing up to the range and test the to see if they'll fire on safe. in the meantime i need to find an alternative handgun for myself because i gave my dad the gp100 for his birthday in april and i feel naked without one... thinking a colt 1911, or possibly a kimber but i hear they're a mixed bag. i'm looking for 4-4.5" barrel, under 35oz unloaded, preferably all stainless with dot sights. here's what caught my eye last night: colt lightweight commander; 26oz unloaded, alu frame and stainless components.

soooo i had an interesting experience today. went to check on the backorder status of my ruger 345, ended up playing with some similar models. i was looking over a ruger kp944ht, and i had the decocker/safety set to safe, and when i pulled the slide back a little to "peek" the chamber it cocked the hammer but the slide didn't come all the way back forward when i let go! this left the hammer cocked which is bad because it is supposed to decock the gun when the slide is pulled with safe is on, so i went to flip the decocker again to uncock the weapon and it dropped the hammer! of course the gun was unloaded but that's not a good design feature. i brought this to the attention of my ffl and he was mortified. the trigger would also catch when the slide wasn't all the way forward with the safety on, allowing the gun to fire. so i don't think i'm getting a ruger anymore....

the difference between two twelves and a single fifteen will depend on how much space you have for an enclosure. one is not inherently better than the other; the twelves will have a little more cone area but the fifteen will have a little higher efficiency, having two motors will allow you to distribute more heat than a single but will displace more volume in your box, etc. etc. etc. there's a little give and take with each setup which makes it a wash in my opinion. personally, i would (and did for my own setup) go with a single fifteen because it's cheaper and will require less space for about the same output. you will be much happier with a single woofer in the optimal enclosure than if you end up with two twelves in the minimum recommended enclosure size. twelves really only start to get interesting when there's four or more of 'em anyways

time for my last pre-major lower division final ever! goodbye SBCC! hello UCSB! :D

and he obviously didn't read either of the two threads i posted. buzz: if you don't make some effort to read a little about how to effectively ask questions here you won't get much back in the way of advice/help. if your goal is to be a menace and wake people up late at night you might as well look into another hobby.

bahahahaha lol @ the first comment:

i have an SX 15, it gets the job done. what you're asking isn't really a question. if you gave us some more information about your goals it would be easier to help you decide. try and give us the information addressed in these threads: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=13994 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=22849

I live on the second story of my townhouse and the neighbors were behind the place making noise last night at about 9:00. I kinda wanted some peace and quiet and I almost yelled down "Go away, 'batin!" haha!

i hate home depot, but with no real hardware stores within 30 miles and a home depot 500 yards from my house it's a necessary evil.
