Hey I like my 07 much better... Especially whats in the trunk...
-
Think I'm gonna look into getting an alpine. I like the iva-w205 and I can get a good deal on it. I have a heard alot of good things about them.

Hello, I have a 100.4 running a set of infinity mids and highs and 2 kicker 8 midbass speakers in my doors. When I first installed it all, it sounded good. Now over the past few days, the speakers have been getting distorted and static sound in them. Now they are at the point that you cannot hardly even hear the music. I have replaced the rca cables, removed every speaker from the amp to see if there was a loose or grounded wire, and removed the head unit and checked every connection. No success... Cannot figure this one out... Maybe someone can help me fix this problem.
-
Ok. Got a different amp from a buddy and...you guessed it...same thing. So it apparently is not the 100.4 causing the issue. Also i tested all the speaker wires where they would connect to the amp with my dmm to check ohms and they all read correctly. If there was a wire grounded, wouldnt that change the ohms? Not sure where to go now. Maybe a different brand head unit?? Anyhow here is a pic of the trunk of my mustang I took with my phone (not best quality). That's before I tore it apart looking for the problem... http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt64/rd.../sundowncar.jpg

How do you post a pic on the forum? I have a pic of my trunk so far and wanted to post it for everyone to check out. Can't figure it out.
-
Friend of mine is going to let me borrow a small amp to put in the car in the place of the 100.4 to see if it makes a difference. Let you know what I find out.
-
I have replaced rca's using 2 different sets, no help.
-
The subs actually sounded better, for the first 15 mins or so the head unit was working fine.
-
I don't know what else to do now. I'm at the point where I may just take it all out. Been working on this install for 6-8 months and it just seems like one thing after another.
-
Ok. Finally got a new head unit in yesterday. Put it in today and....same thing?!?! Static in the Mids/Highs. It sounded fine for about 15 mins. Then it started getting static and raspy sounding again. Its weird. If I turn the volume up to like 3/4 and listen for a minute or two, then turn it down to like 1/4, then it sounds very bad and is full of static at 1/4. If I leave it at 1/4 for a while, it almost seems like the static starts fading away a bit. I don't know. Anyone have any ideas????

What's funny is that I have never had a problem with rca's on any head unit I have owned. Never. Pioneer, kenwood, sony, alpine...no problems. Guess I was due?? Oh well. Take it back on Monday and see if I can get a new one.
-
Changing the ground did nothing. Guess I'm going to get a new head unit under warranty. Hopefully I can just get a new one and not wait for it to get repaired. Only used it for like an hour at most.

The subs have sounded weak from day one. I have 2 nightshade 12's and they just do not sound very loud at all. Have not been able to figure that one out either. Guess it makes sense now if all the rca outs are no good. I will try the ground change at least.
-
Well apparently it has something to do with the cd player (great ). I hooked up a seperate input using a different source and presto, perfect sound. Why would both rca outs go bad like that? Never, ever had that happen before. Is there anything else it may be with the install of the cd player that could make static problem? Just trying to eliminate everything before having to get a new cd player.

I'm just going to take a minute and cool off, then go back out and check it out again. Never hurts to check through it again I guess.
-
Hey when I was 16-17 I was bumping some old Rockford series 1 12's with a punch 150. That's funny!!
-
I'm not sure what the problem is. It's weird. The volume goes up to 34 on the cd player and I can put it on like 6 or 7 and you can't hear anything. When i turn it up to like 8,9,10 you can start hearing the music, but with a ton of distortion and static. When it was working fine last week, I could turn it up to 27 and it would scream. Now I am scared to even get that loud, dont want to destroy the speakers.
-
Honestly, I'm very frustrated. I have been working with this system install forever and it always seems like something. In over 16 years of car audio installs, I have never had so much trouble as I am having now.
-
It's the Sony XAV-W1. I would attach a pic, but i do not know how.
-
I paid over $500 for that cd/dvd player. I can't just try another radio. Is there any way to fix the problem? I have used sony cd players for years and never had a problem.
-
Well, I just switched the RCA's from the front output to the rear and same thing. Maybe not RCA outputs going out. Anyhow, the cd player is a Sony XAV-W1. I have used 2 different sets of stinger RCA's, some no name Wal mart type RCA's, and some audiobahn RCA's. All the same results.

I guess it could be. Its brand new. Been used since I installed the 100.4. Maybe 2 weeks.
