alright, we will wait and see.
-
hah this thread is up to you again. i changed my mind, I am gonna do it once, and do it right. GO big or GO home. FI BL FTW
-
well i see that db-r has refurbished 1500d for 375, which yes is a lot of money to me, BUT it will pay off. I won't risk clipping with this amp right? i figured i'd go with it as long as i can get it for that price. If the 1200d seems like a good price to me i may consider it, but i don't need to go about and clip it.
-
ok thanks for the quick replies. I am sure I will have many more questions once i order everything when it comes to install.
-
oh, a quick question for ya how many ring terminals should i order, and/or what other kind of terminals? And i need to get a new battery post correct?
-
well, it is just a cavalier, so take into factor that it is a narrow car and small engine bay also. So i might just order 12-15 ft.
-
alright so i am ordering 1/0 from welding supply. Do I need any fuses for the big 3? I am just going to order enough for the big 3 right now. How does 15 ft sound? or less
-
I know what ya meant, by grounding it to the frame. Most people that have put systems into a cavalier, use a ring terminal with a self taping screw and a locknut in the spare tire well area. But my current amp is ground to my seatbelt bolt. Figure order 25ft or 30? Thats ground/power/big 3. Think that would be enough 1/0 gauge?
-
well it is actually about the size of a corolla lol. It is a 2000 Cavalier Sedan. And with that - wire, wouldn't it come off the amp and just use about 4 feet, and ground that to some clean sheet metal? I would need to run it inside of my car being that I live in Michigan and winters can get pretty harsh up here. I am not about to go drill some holes in my car either, as you probably can understand. I will try to get my big 3 done before winter hits.
-
so correct me if wrong, I DO need 0 gauge for that amp right? And one run of 0 to positive, and a short section for the ground to chassis. Where abouts did you run you + wire, being that it most likely will not fit in the plastic near the door jambs. oh and i can't get the amp/sub combo right now, I am waiting till spring or summer yet. I have some tires to pay for and about 1k to pay for on my car yet, then I should be set for saving up.

i just am throwing my idea around of which amp to get at the moment really. I am set on getting the BL, i really want that power. It is just hard for me to spend that much, but I understand why you say go with sundown, it will last me. I am just 17 and work minimum wage, but i still do want to go about this. I will look more into the sundown 1500d. Is that a 4 gauge 2 or 0 receptor?
-
And what about the Sundown 1000. Does that put out 1000 maximum right?
-
needed to get this topic going again. I had Chris help me with a setup a while back and it turned out to be almost 1200 dollars easily. I really do not need/want to spend that much, but i do want the loudness and quality of the BL. I see the sundown 1500d, but it is still just costly for me. Why do I need to run 1/0 gauge wiring anyways, doesn't the amp only accept 4 gauge. I just don't understand the need for a distribution block for one amp right? Sorry if this sounds newb. Just haven't worked with high powered setups before. I was thinking of the BL 15" with the Flatwind coil on the Hifonics 1208d, but everyone cares less about the hifonics. Just need more input on this.
-
hah, i understand your meaning chad. I ran track and soccer for my years back in middle school and most of high school. My hip already pops and my left knee hurts somehwhat when i run. My dad runs/walks about 4 miles a night, so i figure i would start with him by running/biking/rollerblading.
-
get me some info too, if you could. Just a starting exercise schdule for a month or so, just to get started. I am starting running tomorrow, and possibly hitting free weights every other day.
-
alright awesome, what db level can i expect from the SSD, obviously ported enclosure too. Definatly need to know which options to order with it.
-
Alright so it looks like I am going with the 15" SSD (need inputs on what options to get) and most likely the kicker zx750.1 What size enclosure should i go with (ported) and what tune. It is mainly for rap, so a 33hz-35? And it will be for a 2000 Cavalier.
-
yes i do watch what i eat, just being that heart disease runs in my family, and don't need to start now. I am just looking to get more build and become tone too. I had worked out for quite a while then lost intrest like last month and i got bored with it. I was lifting with a friend, but he was way to weak and couldn't keep up with my workouts, and I got sick of always having to change the weights for him and waiting.
-
what is the comparison in loudness and clarity for the ssd though. I most likely will not go with kicker now that I have heard this.
-
listening i am intrested too, about the same build 6'0 153lbs. 17years old. I would like to know about this too.
-
What is a 15" Solobaric L7 in comparison to a SSD, mainly listening to rap and on occasion rock. On the Kicker zx750.1? Thanks
-
the amp is by far nothing great. I got it free from a buddy, he didn't want it any more. It is a Lanzar Vibe 250. Puts out 1000W max at 2ohm. It is a 2channel amp btw. I was just going to take it easy on the gains, and use that till I get the money for the Kicker amp, being that sundown is too costly really.
-
bump* I plan on getting 15" SSD with flatwind coil. Is there any options I should get otherwise? I want to get the Kicker amp that Chad recommended, but I am going to run the FI on my current amp till I can afford the Kicker. Should I get Dual 1 or 2 Ohm also?
-
or would it be worth it for me to run THAT kicker amp, and get the Q in a 12 or 15". Just minimizing my options now.
