i already have the bl.... someone asked why not go sealed and i explained the bl line wasnt made for sealed enclosures, meaning im not going to go sealed. i realize no one said that, i already bought it, made a box for it, and now i want to see if a diff box and tuning will help.

what kind of job do you have at 16 and can throw 3 stacks on a system? please tell cuz i am in dire need of monies anyways.... nince system and dont be bumpin that chit everywhere.... you're pretty young and seeing a 16 year old with a bangin ass system just tells the older crowd to come get it. im not ragging on you im just helpin you out since your lucky to have this stuff!

memphis 2500d
carbonmonoxide replied to 2noma0s's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ive never heard anything bad about Memphis. in fact i dont think ive even seen one debate on what problems Memphis products have. im sure theres been user-fault problems as with anything, but as far as Memphis having problems with their own products, i havnt heard or seen anything. so if i were you id grab it up, but id also look around for something cheaper aswell. its all up to you though. -
well i think unrated from ca.com has got a design for me, he owns a cavalier himself so he knows what can fit and what wont. i got pictures, no dimensions yet though. will be a nice box from what i saw. anyways, thanks to those who tried helping, cavaliers are a headache for boxes and getting loud but i figured id go the best way by contacting someone with a cavalier. thanks again

i cant go sealed, fi's bl were not made for sealed enclosures... a member on ca.com has a 98 cavalier, and said he can fit a decent box in there with out modifying anything to the car or box, so if that all goes well i can post up pics. thats sort of why i wanted to go with the aero ports to minimize more box space and still sound allright. i've never glassed and i dont want to go that route

Im in Clearwater, where in FL are you? Welcome!!

yes, the opening is about 34'' wide, 15 1/2'' deep, and 16 1/2'' tall. the opening from behind the seats is an arch shape, meaning the taller the box is, the thinner it will have to be to fit through, i found this out because the last box i built had to be put in through that way. but, it being so thin and long, it slides around too much, no room for amp because if i dont lean it on the box i cant close my rear seats, and the sub is already to close to the trunk to scoot the box up any further, i cant move the amp to the most spacious side of the trunk due to my rca's being too short. so i need a box that will fit in between my trunk supports, thin so my amp can sit right behind it, like my old old box, but it was tuned real low and 2. 75 cu ft. how to you put a box in the trunk in half? theres barely enough room to move things around back there, i couldnt fit a drill in there at all. thanks for your help!

i need a design for a ported box, 1.8 - 2.5 cubic feet, tuned at 30 - 37 hz. now i say those varied like that because i need you to work with me on what design will fit best in my trunk, because its a ****ing ***** to get any box ive made in there. i will take pics, measurements whatever. even my setup now and previous to show roughly what can fit. its a 2004 cavalier and has the tiniest openeing, but lots of tunk space. and for the port, id like to use a aero port if theyre worth it, if not ill just go with the slot port at 30 hz. id like the design simple, i dont have lots to spend on the design, i can build it myself. its for a 12'' fi bl running on 1000rms

sub/ amp problem
carbonmonoxide replied to carbonmonoxide's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the zx1000.1 doesnt have a variable setting for the subsonic. just an on and off switch. so if its playing below the tuning, does that hurt my sub? or just make it sound like its distorting? -
sub/ amp problem
carbonmonoxide replied to carbonmonoxide's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I checked the rca's, the wiring on the sub, and nothings broken or loose. im coming to realize its just the cd, but its an actual bought cd, so the quality shouldnt suck ass on it, anyone else have problems with jeezy's cds? just on his my gain needs to be set wayyy down otherwise when the sub starts playing low notes it sounds like its bottoming out. now when i pop in booty bounce bopper on a burnt cd, it wangs like crazy and sounds clean. so is it possible that the cd could have been causing it? -
lately my kicker zx1000.1 has been acting wierd, when i first set everything up, it sounded great, then, not so great. before the sub was broken in ( a 12'' fi fully loaded bl in a 2.25 cu ft box tuned at 32 hz), i had the gains set and everything with the dmm. now, at the same voltage, my sub sounds like its distorting badly, and i have to turn the gain all the way down. my hu's setting are set to -2 of all bass enhancement. and im not using the bass knob for the amp either. do fi bl's sound like this when theyre broken in? i know there more of a spl type sub made to get loud, but i have only had 2 other subs so i may just be overreacting. any help guys?

first off the box is too big liike stated before. too big of a box can decrease the power handling of the sub. two, your low pass filter needs to be set on the amp, to about 100-175 hz. the bass equalizer should be turned down all the way. the subsonic filter keeps your sub protected in a ported box from over excursion. your in sealed so i dont think you should use it. on your pioneer headunit theres TONS of buttons to tune your sub. turn the sub level up until you can hear the bass. dont use the loud or sla buttons unless a track is really chitty on quality.

I have a 12'' BL in a 2.25 or so cu. ft. box ported at 32 hz, and a Kicker ZX1000.1 running at 2 ohms and it doesnt seem loud enough, and i dont want to clip it to death. im wondering if a different amp can help? its a fully loaded bl so im sure it can take 1500 rms, what do you guys suggest? right now for electrical i have 1/0 for the amp and battery, ive done the wire upgrades for the grounding in the engine compartment, except for the alternator because of it being mounted by my chassis rather than near the hood. any suggestions there besides the alt positve wire?
