I have a single rl-p 18 in 5 cubes tuned to 27hz, with 64sq in. of port. im running it with a aq2200d at 4 ohms. my question is that when i play songs with notes around 28 hz, its not really that audible, and doesnt move much air at all. Its probably just because its in a trunk. but I thought it would be alot louder on those low notes, considering its tuned to 27hz. My ssf is set around 30, i think that could be it, but i want to ask before i mess something up. thanks!
-
i fixed the ssf, and it definitely is picking up the lower frequencies, but it still isnt as impressive as i thought it would be. i think its my box. could it be that about 5 cubes is too small?
-
Well ive decided since i still have a week or two before i can start building my box, im going to design a ported box instead of a sealed box for my single ss rl-p 18. im going to stick with the suggested size and tuning(5cubes, 27hz) but i want to use flared aero ports. So here are some questions. 1) what diameter port should i buy and how many?( i kind of want two for the looks, but if ones better, let me know) 2) do you measure the flare of the port when tuning it? 3) were is a good place to buy them? thanks for the help!

Alright. thanks! Do i have enough port area? its about 64sq in.

well i dont want to try active because i dont think i am capable of doing it right. lol. And i do care how it sounds, but i think if i got a set that are "close" to the same as mine, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Do you know any that are comparable to mine?

aq2200d amp settings
mwerling1212 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i finally hooked up my system today, but i need to set up my aq2200d properly. i know how to set the gain with a dmm, but i couldn't turn the gain up high enough to reach the voltage i got.(54.41) Also what should i set the ssf/lpf to. The dial for lpf is only 20-200 or something like that, nothing in between, so were should i set it approxiamately? same with the ssf. My substage consists of a ss Rl-p 18 in 5 cubic foot box tuned to 27 hz. thanks! -
hu settings

thanks everyone for the help! i used the tutorial and set my gains properly. my amp does not have a hpf so i just set my hu's hpf to 80hz. i still havent installed my sub and amp yet so ill adjust it when i get there. -
I need some advice on my amp and hu settings. I have polk momo 6.5's running off of a zx200.4, bridged to 100.2. I have to turn my hu up to around 58 out of 62 for them to be decently loud, but i want them to be louder at a lower volume so i dont clip. I have the gains all the way off. when i go to set the amp up with my dmm, should i just put the volume at 45 out of 62 because the gain setting tutorial says put the volume about 3/4 the way up? Also, there are two gain settings on my amp. would i set each one up independently? And my final question is when i set up my amp, should i set the hu settings such as the high pass filter before i tune it? thanks for the help!!!

I tried crimping it with vicr grips, but it wasnt that tight. i could pull it out. is there any other tool that will crimp it better? -

Any suggestions before i go to sleep? -
well the 6in ports are way to expensive so i thinks ill just go for a slot port. Anyways, thanks for the help!
-
someone help me out please!! i want to build the box now, but i want to make sure i order the right ports.
-
I was also wondering if the measurement the calculator gave me is the length for both of the ports, or is each one supposed to be that length? can someone also help me out with the my other post above this one. PLEASE!
-
so ill just get two 4in ports from parts express, and cut them to length. Is that the right amount of port area? also, its going in a trunk, so were should I put the ports? I was thinking sub/ports back, ports driver side one on top of the other. does that sound ok? thanks.

how would you use a dmm to find a ground that has 0 ohms resistance? -
