Looking for 1.5 DIN Stereo
rob682e posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey all, I'm looking for a 1.5 DIN bluetooth capable deck. I haven't been able to find anything online, my local shop said they have them but I would rather get a nice internet deal first. At this point I'm open to any company as long as it is a decent functioning deck and won't look bad in the truck. Thanks a lot for any info, -Rob -
Looking for 1.5 DIN Stereo

I would like a 1.5 for cosmetic reasons, it's for a 2001 Silverado 2500...it's looking like I'm going to have to get a 1 DIN but we'll see. -
I'm no professional but posting this thread prior to placing your order may have been a good idea :-/. Good Luck.

Yeah, the wiring job looked great (to me)...when I took the sub out yesterday I wasn't sure why I only found screws in those holes. Oh well, leave it to the noob kid to fix it.

Hey all....in the past month or so I've had an issue on going with my standard BL 15". On a certain low note it will make this clanking, metallic type noise. I took the sub out today, not that I know what I'm looking for but apparently I shouldn't let it do this anymore since it could become damaged. I have a Kicker ZX1000.1 hooked to it. Would this be an issue with my box or is it something I would need to send the sub back to the factory to fix? Thanks -Rob
-
Well the installer only put screws in the top 5 holes and not the bottom 3....So that could have been it.
-
The subsonic frequency isn't adjustable on the ZX1000.1. Call me crazy, stupid, whatever but I put the sub back in today and it doesn't make the noise anymore for some reason....
-
No that was just me being a nub...I haven't gotten to door speakers yet so there was a note in a song that I thought was a low the sub/box wasn't hitting but it ended up being a high that just sounded chitty through my speakers. And I adjusted the settings wrong, not the shop, when I got it. I told the shop I wanted a box made, I had the specs already drawn out but he didn't think it was necessary and went ahead with the prefab...him being the professional he should know but oh well. I have been happy with it so far but this issue is kind of iffy. I don't have the money to have him build a box nor the skills to do it myself...or the resources/time now that I'm away for college.

There is no distortion at all. It seems to be a specific low note and it's not the lowest note. If you're implying that I'm overpowering the BL, I doubt it but as I notice you've figured out, I don't know my stuff all that well. And yeah, pretty much I got to be friends with the shop and they take care of it for me...I don't do well with math and hands on stuff, might explain why my major is computer forensics, not auto tech.

The subsonic filter is and has been on since the install. I can't give you an exact number and I don't have the money to buy a meter I'll use once...college isn't cheap. I'm about 3 hours away from home where the shop I usually go to is.
-
Pretty sure it's around 4ft^3 and tuned to 35hz...it's a prefab. Here's a pic... Gain is at 50% on the amp.

Hey all, I just got my car back today from the shop. I have a Kicker ZX1000.1 hooked to a BL 15". I looked at the settings the shop owner left the amp at and was just wondering if he left them low or what. He has the Gain at 50% and the Bass boost at 3, goes up to 18. It was pretty loud on the way home and I still had not got the radio all configured so I'm just wondering here.
-
Just got off the phone with him...he said the box is pretty close to 4 cubed and the port is tuned to 35. Changing the box out for a 30hz probably isn't worth it so I guess I just need not play Late Night Tip.
-
That sounds about right...when I was planning my own box I had it a bit longer at about 3.8 after displacement with a 32hz port. I'm really not sure how to go about this with the guy at the shop, I don't want to like offend him or something...it's my money and now it's my money wasted. I don't have the time to build a box, I'm leaving for college next week and won't have the resources to do so there. Thanks for all the help.
-
Had to go the hardware store...Correction...still doesn't hit the low note on Late Night Tip, ganna have to talk to the guy at the shop I guess.
-
Yeah...when I first was getting this all setup at the shop, I made it clear I wanted to build a custom box for it but I think the guy underestimated the sub so he went ahead and ordered one.... I went out for a bit this morning and messed with the settings. With the Bass Boost at 0 and the EQ Flat it sounded a lot better, However, it didn't sound loud enough so I had to turn that bass knob up. I ended up with it at about 75% and it was still very clear sounding while shaking my car. I tried Late Night Tip again and it did hit that low note ok but I think this prefab box may have been a mistake...still louder than anyone in this area when I get it all set right. Some pics.. Sorry they are so big, I hope your browser resizes them as mine does.
-
I honestly couldn't tell you...when I went to pick the car up yesterday the store owner went to come outside with me to check it out and all but a little incident happened and he freaked out on his wife and got all pissed. The box appears to be 3.5-4 ft^3 and maybe a 3 inch port but that's all I can visually see.
-
Thanks a lot!! There is a preset EQ of "Flat" so I'll go out where I won't bother anyone tomorrow and get all of these settings right. I don't know if this was some of my settings but I was kind of surprised when I listened to the song "Three Six Mafia - Late Night Tip"--There's some points in some of the bass lines that it actually went too low for the BL and it just kind of went from BOOOOM to sounding really dull and quiet for that low point, then it would go back up. Thanks again for the help.
-
Yeah so must be I'm just completely not educated enough to run my own equipment, it seems :-p. I think one of the frequency settings was like a cutoff for the sub, pretty sure I put that at 64hz, lowest it goes it 50.
-
Sooo...just was out for about a hour ridin around. I turned the bass boost on the amp all the way down. I had the EQ set to a preset of Super Bass or something like that, that didn't really sound too good so I set it to "Powerful" which sounded alright. There's also Bass Boost on the deck settings which I set to +6, not sure if I should have that turned down or not. I have the Bass knob up front for the amp and I didn't really didn't feel comfortable turning that up passed about 20%, it was really loud and kind of shaky sounding. I don't have more than 2 hours on this sub yet so maybe it just needs that 15-30 hour break in period I've read about. I'm pretty much a nub with most car audio stuff...there's a few frequency settings I don't understand on the deck and they aren't explained the manual. I have a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB. From all I've read on these forums, I'm sure this sub can take more power than I'm able to throw at it but me being a nub and all, I don't want to blow up my new toys. Thanks, Rob

After some time being away and such I'm getting ready to order an Amp and a BL 15". I've been looking to buy a Kicker ZX1000.1 but I have yet to be able to understand the relation of ohms between amps and subs...I'm terrible at math. The amp does 1000W RMS at 2 ohms so does that mean I would want the 1 ohm option with the BL? --Thanks for any replies.

Also, if I have the space available should I go with the largest in the range of recommended volumes for a box? I'm really shootin in the dark here hehe...been reading stuff on google all day but any help is appreciated.

Since I plan on building my own box I have been messing with WinISD...Everything seems well except when I got to the Vent Mach, I understand what Vent Mach is but the entry field will not allow me to put anything in, all that is there is Qes/Pe! in red. I may not have everything else correct, I wouldn't know if I did have it wrong.... If needed I can screen shot other things...thanks for any help.

I won't be doing the install myself...at one point I was quite familiar with the Big 3 and was getting ready to do it on a Caddi Deville I owned at the time but it ended up not being able to pass inspections so it got junked. That was about 3 years ago so it has escaped me by now...when I take my car in to get everything installed would getting the cables changed out be a common operation for audio shops? I actually have about 10 feet of 1awg cable, a fuse holder, terminals for the battery and the terminals that you crimp onto the cables from when I was planning on doing it.

Going in a '99 Limited Explorer with stock alternator...I have a 1.5 farad cap to add to it...so don't think I can do much more than 1k watts.
