    1999 Ranger regular cab

its 10:30 at night on a saturday and im about to go work on it instead of going to the bar. Im going a bit different route than most, everyone seems to think a 6" aero port would be awsome, I happen to think two 3x5 external box ports would be pretty sweet ( and a hell of alot cheaper ) Im going to go put them together now, spent all day laying them out cutting pieces etc, I should be updating my threads with new pics later tonight, if everything goes as planned I will be installing it all tomorrow ( minus painting the box, I want to make sure it sounds good before I spend the time and money filling snading and painting it )

I should alo say, i probably won't do a fiberglass box again unless I absolutly have to. This was just a I want to be different option. I could have done the whole thing out of MDF and been done a week ago. I didnt really get the curves I was hoping for but I think it should be a pretty stout box when done. I just need to figure out my port or ports now :\ box is sitting at 2.314 cubes after displacments right now. NOT including port displacment because I have no idea how to fgure for ports.

I just did it for the sexy look alan head bolts have , but yes it also makes repeated removal a snap and you can do it 100 times in a day and never worry about the screws coming loose

they are just a 1" long threaded insert that will except 1/4 X 20 macine screws. you can pick them up at lowes in the bolts section or online from parts express. im not sure what the technical name is but if you go to lowes it wont help you anyways they are morons I had to spend 15 minutes looking in all the bolt / screw bins to find them

    Fi Sub Setup Questions

I have the same amp, and I have a Fi Q 12" with BP Power option, that amp is a pretty good power match to the Q line, I would recommend the BP power option with whatever size driver you want, build box to specs. 1200 Wrms is a bit much for a standard Q they are rated at 1000Wrms but with the BP option its a solid setup.

12" Q concerns about Xmax and my box

OKAY NDMstang65, do you think a half inch baffel will adequetly support the Q ? I can get a 1 inch recess if I have to im just concerned about the sub breaking the baffel. Scrapping the box isnt really an option as ive already got about 8 hours and 100 bucks into it.

12" Q concerns about Xmax and my box

So it appears I may have made my box a touch to large and now im concerned about my sub hitting the back of my seat. I originally intended to recess the sub .75inches in a 1.5 inch thick ring. Not being familiar with the metric system I wasn't aware until about a hour ago of how big 27 mm Xmax was. Unless im mistaken that means the subs cone will have a hair over 2 inches of travel from peak to peak before getting into distortion. My concern lies with forward movement. I figured for .75 inches of forward movement, to find out now after the box is being constructed by me ( out of fiberglass ), that I didn't figure right. SO, how accurate is the 27mm measurment? Is it truely Xmax or is it actually Xlim?? Pic of my problem, sorry the pic is at a funk angle, the ring is touchig the seat ar the top of the ring/box. The ring is 16" and the sub is a 12" the pat that is touching is actually 2" above where the sub will be. Do you think I will be alright?

Problem with getting my 15" Fi Q to sound right.

could be a few things... whats that box like? and if i were you i would scratch that ED off the list of things to buy. care to say why you would scratch the nine.1 ? is it some logical reason or is it your biased dislike for the owner of the company? I will be the first to admit their speakers suck period, however they make solid amps that are under rated. Ive been running a nine.1 @ 1 ohm pushing 1200 Wrms for 3 years and not had a single problem with it. I am so satisfied with their amps that I just bought 2 more. a nine.2 and another nine.1, I gave my old nine.1 to my brother who is now running it at 1 ohm with 1200 wrms. Plus they have a 5 year warrenty, id love to see another company come close to that. In my experiance as long as you dont abuse the equipment IE running it below the rated ohm, they honor their warrenty hands down. All your out is shipping. I hear too much good stuff about the NINe.1 to scratch it off the list. my point exactly man, I see this on all the forums. Not bashing any particular brands but company X comes out wit a amp rated at 1kw @ 12 v and it produces 1.2KW @ 14 V everyone rides companys nuts eD produces solid amps for 5 years but in the case of edead V1 try to pass off asphalt based deadener as a cutting edge product. ( bad choice anyone will admit ) 5 years later they have completly scratched asphalt for butal based products and everyone still gives them crap as a company. Even though you will be hard pressed to find a BAD review for their subs or amps. Are they the best money can buy? Definatly not. Are they best in their price range? IMHO yes indeed. Id also like to add eD customer service is pretty damn good. Alex in particular. Props to you bro.

Perhaps you didn't understand me. I refuse to use paypal period. I will not support a buisness that is run by a bunch of crooks. If paypal is your only option I guess I will shop elsewhere.
